“Learning to trust is one of life’s most difficult task.”
She couldn’t believe the nerve of him. How dare he. As quickly as her anger rose, it abated leaving her exhausted. She had been working herself up waiting for a phone call that never came.
He had called faithfully every night at eleven and they chatted for as long as they could, but often, their conversation lasted no longer than fifteen minutes. Between her new film and his commitments abroad, it took a bit of juggling. It had been a little more than one week and she thought they had the routine down perfectly until today. It was twenty minutes past twelve now and she has still yet to receive a single call. Well, there was that one from her mother asking if she was ever going to find a boyfriend and get married, but she had fended off the questions and quickly hung up, afraid that she would miss his call.
Half past eleven. The silence buzzed with anticipation.
She tried to leave a message, thinking he might be too busy to pick up the phone but was met with the voice of a woman speaking in a foreign tongue. She had hung up and apologized, thinking she had dialed the wrong number. A check on the phone records proved that she hadn’t.
Half past twelve. The silence was overwhelming.
She couldn’t help but wonder. Her mind runs wild.
