Dissonance

He watched as she wept. It was unnervingly silent as she tried to stifle her sobs which made the whole scene even more heart wrenching. As the silent tears made their way down her cheeks, reminiscent of stars falling from the sky, there was nothing more at that moment he wished for than the ability to recall what was once lost.
Yet, he was but just a mere human. Strong and weak. Powerful and powerless. All embodied in a single shell. Mortality, at moments like these would always be disdained, raged at. As as with mortality, comes certain limitations which includes the access to divine powers that he yearned for at this moment. Afterall, he was but just merely mortal. One who could only watch on helplessly as life continues around him.
He rubbed her back in calming circles while muttering soothing nothings in her ear. It seemed, for a moment that they were the only two people in the world, or perhaps the universe, even though it would be more precise to say that they were the only two in the large cold, sterile hospital room. Brought together, only by the knowledge that they would be the only ones who were starkly aware of a fallen star, a missing puzzle,the sudden dissonance in the melody. The only two who would grieve the star that never had a chance to shine, the puzzle piece that never had a chance to see how beautiful it could have been had it been present.
