Description
Chungae Cho was an illegitimate child. A child born out of her father's affair. Having her mother die while giving birth, she's adopted into her father's family. She is now always looked down upon and always second; behind her older half-sister, Eunae. Eunae was perfect to everyone in their eyes, including Chungae, herself.
Eunae was always the one to set the example and always good and respectful. Those were the main points as to why the Tuans chose her as their future bride.
But not just that, they needed the Cho's for good business.
It's a good thing that their son, Mark, is friends with Eunae. It makes the whole deal easier.
But what happens when Eunae is suddenly kidnapped and killed?
Her death impacts everyone, including Chungae and Mark. Will they still go through with a marriage between the two companies? Can Chungae take Eunae's spot in Mark's heart?
Foreword
I stood behind the rest of the family as they crowded near Mark to celebrate his birthday. On his right side, of course, was Eunae. I watched silently and bitterly as she helped him blow out his candles. Oh, how I wished I had someone like him in my life.
Mark chuckled afterwards and Eunae gave him a hug, passing him a gift. The families awed as I looked away. I couldn't handle any more of the 'cute' couple, so I headed out to the patio.
I pulled down the skirt of my dress as I sat down on one of the seats, only to be quickly joined by someone not too long after I had situated myself.
I squinted to look up at the person as they sat next to me. "Too sweet for you?" I stopped squinting and rolled my eyes at the person.
"You should already know why, Jinyoung," I said, running a hand through my hair. Jinyoung smiled, "Oh, yeah! You have a crush on Mark. I forgot!"
My eyes widened as I reached over to cover his mouth. "Shhh! You idiot! You can't say that in public! I'm going to get killed!" I harshly whispered to him, looking around. Jinyoung's smile got even wider as I finally let go and sat back down.
"Oh, come on, Chungae-yah. Lighten up! It's his birthday and he invited you!" I scoffed as I leaned back into my chair. "He probably only invited me since I'm his girlfriend's sister. It's protocol." I sighed and rested my chin on my hand.
'I just wished he would notice me...even just a little.'
