brief Summary: An institute designed for training teenagers who are suspected to be different is harboring a much darker secret, and the kids are starting to suspect things aren't right. 

plot: The Institute is unkown to most until they, or a member of their family, is contacted by them and persuaded to attend. Usually, teenagers are plucked from their normal lives and brought into a new environment of people just like them. They tend to arrive here just as they're beginning to realise their difference- that they have abilities. The Institute helps them with their ability and teaches them to utilise it to the best of their ability. The Institute is a live-in facility and houses a fair amount of 'psychics', all of whom form a close bond with one another for the reason that: they're all freaks. But what happens when these freaks start to realise that something with the Institute just isn't right? What happens when they find out that they're all being brought together for a much darker purpose? 

Characters: 
This would focus around the teenagers that are now apart of the Institute, having been brought there because of their particular psychic power.
I would definitely advise going with plotlines for this to avoid getting ridiculous and over the top ideas for abilities. My suggestions are:
-Premonitions in the form of visions or drawings
-Healing by manipulating life energy or chi
-Telepathy; preying on weaker minds to gain their energy; a dangerous power
-Communication and Control over animals
-Dowsing; being able to locate something from afar with the mind
-Psychokinesis; using the mind to move or levitate objects
-Psychometry; the ability to determine someone's thoughts or feelings by touch
I wouldn't suggest having a lot of characters since it might get confusing.

tips + suggestions:
-You could definitely involve romance between people in The Institute as well as the strong friendship (or even negative relationships) they would have.
-Read up on the abilities and powers to make your writing mor realistic
-Get a lot of drama in there! Think of it like the Institute is really a terrible organisation banding together vulnerable children with powers they don't even understand and using them to get something they want.
