Breathtaking
Fiction CollectionHe watched as the shadows of two figures become a stark contrast to the orange-toned sunset.
He watched Kibum gently tuck back strands of stray hair from the female's perfectly shaped face.
He watched on as she gave him a kiss of gratitude, and him replying with a smile.
A weary smile that had been resided on for two insipid years.
He followed them into their car, occupying the back seat. And through the back view mirrored, he watched.
He simply watched Kibum, missing his own reflection.
Without blinking, he watched Kibum steer effortlessly through the highway, past the bustle of the city, and finally stopping at a lone house at the end of a lane.
He quietly slipped out of the car, entering the house.
He sat beside Kibum at the rectangular dining table, watching him eat then feeling for his own stomach.
He hadn't eaten but he wasn't hungry.
He sat on the toilet bowl as he watched Kibum shower, steam fogging up the mirror. Kibum showered as per normal, as though he wasn't there.
Was that a tear that coursed down Kibum's face?
He watched as Kibum flipped to his side, pulling the covers along with him, fast asleep.
With slow steps, he walked towards Kibum, kneeling beside him. He hesitantly extended his right hand, reaching towards his face.
He couldn't.
He couldn't feel anything.
"Kevin, I miss you."
Kevin watched those 4 words softly spill out of Kibum's mouth, realizing he was just sleep talking.
"I miss you too." Kevin whispered, "Loved you so much it took my breath away."
