MINAH

I gasped in disbelief. I couldn’t believe it. No wonder Hyeri has been giving me an attitude while we talked, ever since she found out Kai and I were together. While I was having fun dating, she was suffering from a broken heart.

I gulped with my heart pounding crazily like a beast, as if I was in Hyeri’s position. “What happened between you and Kyungsoo?” I asked timidly.

While I waited for her to respond, I heard her sniffing and blowing her nose. It must’ve been really bad…

“Minah…” she began to say, before she had to blow her nose again. “You have no i-idea w-what he did to m-me,” her voice quivered as she spoke.

“He broke my heart. We were planning to meet at the park where we met, since it’s our one month anniversary. We were going to meet at 8 p.m., but I wanted to be there earlier to surprise him. Then things started to get ugly…” She started to cry again after her last sentence. I wish I was physically there to comfort her. Hearing her cry made me want to cry too, even though I haven’t listened to the rest of her story.

“When I arrived, Kyungsoo was already there. But that wasn’t why I was disappointed. I was disappointed to see that Kyungsoo arrived with another woman,” she continued.

I gasped again. “ANOTHER WOMAN?!” I shrieked. As I said that, my mother peeked her head in my room.

“What did you say?” My mom said annoyed. Oops, I forgot it was still very early in the morning.

“Sorry mom,” I mouthed to her. She scratched her neck in annoyance as she went back to her room.

“Yes, another woman,” she emphasized. “I couldn’t believe it either. I didn’t want to believe what I saw, until I saw Kyungsoo hugging her. What made me more mad was she was so glamourous, like a supermodel. She was tall, had slim, long legs. Her hair looked long and soft, her makeup was on fleek, and her style was amazing. And I don’t want to admit it, but her style is probably better than mine.”

“Omo. So what did you do? Did you went up to them?”

She sighed. “I didn’t have the strength to do that after what I saw. I just ran home like a wimp. After I pulled myself together an hour later, I texted him saying we were over.”

“Did he text or call you back?”

“Yeah. He left me like 20 to 30 calls and messages. But I didn’t have the heart to answer him.”

“Wow. I still can’t believe he would do this to you. He seems so kind and gentle though. I think you might have assume things too quickly,” I say in attempt to comfort Hyeri.

“Minah, I saw what happened with my own two eyes. I don’t think I’m seeing things. She’s a gorgeous girl. Who wouldn’t fall for her?” She said with a tired yawn. “All this crying and stress is making me tired. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

When we ended the phone call, I couldn’t help but think that Kyungsoo wouldn’t do such a thing. I’ve seen them interact before. He loves Hyeri as much as she loves him. He couldn’t possibly do the worst thing possible to break my best friend’s heart.

Maybe there was something fishy going on between Kyungsoo and that woman, or maybe it was all just a misunderstanding.

The next morning, I woke up to sound of my phone vibrating. With the lack of sleep, my head throbbed when I reached for my phone and answer the call.

“Hello?” I moaned.

“Good morning beautiful. Did you sleep well?” Kai spoke with a y voice. I immediately sat up from his charming voice as I ruffled my hair.

It was already 10:30 in the morning. Luckily I was off from work today.

Usually I would be overwhelmed from Kai’s charming actions, but I couldn’t help but think about what happened between Hyeri and D.O. “Mhm I slept well. I had a lovely dream because you were in it,” I teased lightly. “Did you hear about Hyeri and D.O.?”

“I heard about it this morning when D.O. came over to my house.” After Kai spoke, I heard D.O. saying, “Let me talk to Minah on the phone.”

“Minah, how’s Hyeri doing?” D.O. asked once he got ahold of Kai’s phone.

“She’s not doing so good... All night she’s been crying from her broken heart. Don’t you have something to say about all this?” I said furiously.

“I don’t understand what’s going on. I don’t know why she broke up with me.”

I snickered. “Heol. Don’t pretend you don’t know what you did to break my best friend’s heart. She saw you with another woman for God’s sake!!” I might have went a bit overboard, but as her best friend, I have to stand up for her. On the other end of the call, I could hear Kai gasping from astonishment.

“This is all just a misunderstanding,” D.O. panicked. “Hear me out.”

“Go ahead. You better have answers.”

“First of all, she’s not a woman I’m seeing, she’s my older cousin,” D.O. began. “I was having so much trouble planning the perfect date for our anniversary, because I love Hyeri so much that I wanted to make the night memorable. I called my cousin to help me because she’s an expert in these kind of things,” he finishes explaining.

“Oh.” I was left speechless. My initial thought of Kyungsoo not being this type of guy was right. He was just a love fool who would do anything to make Hyeri the most happiest girl in the world. “Sorry for misunderstanding D.O.”

“It’s okay,” he mumbled. “I understand why you would be so mad and Hyeri crying over this. But now I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

I snapped my fingers as an idea clicked in my brain. “I know exactly what we should do.”

“We?”

“Yup, both of us and Kai. We’ll make it the most memorable day for you and Hyeri.” After I told D.O. and Kai the plan, I quickly washed up and got dressed. I smiled thinking about Hyeri’s big surprise. She’s going to love everything that will happen today.
