Chapter 2

Story Of My Unspoken Heart

Author P.O.V

As the two of them entered school, they were stopped by one of Minho’s Track and Field members; Hyun Woo.
“Hi Hyung! Hi Noona!” He chirped. Smiling, Su Hwa gave him a small wave.
“Oh, hey Hyun Woo,” Minho replied, smiling.
“Hyung, I need to talk to you about something. It won’t take long though,” Hyun Woo stated, biting his lip. Cocking her head to the side, Su Hwa observed him as he showed signs of uneasiness. She found it odd because it was the first time she had ever seen him behave that way.
Shrugging it off, she decided to give them some privacy to talk. Turning to Minho, she said, “I’ll meet you at my locker?”
Minho nodded and removed his arm from her shoulder. Turning to Hyun Woo, she bid him goodbye and headed towards the direction of her locker. Once her figure was out of sight, Minho turned to Hyun Woo.
“So what’s up?” Minho asked and he couldn’t help but to notice the uneasiness coming from Hyun Woo.

--------------------

Opening her locker, Su Hwa’s eyes landed on the picture pasted on her locker door. It was a picture of her and Minho. In that picture, Minho had his arm slung around her shoulder while his other hand held a trophy. A large grin was plastered on his face. Su Hwa was smiling too but what both she and Minho hadn’t noticed was the sadness she had in her eyes.
Upon seeing the picture, her lips tugged up into a smile and as her eyes travelled to the small note at the bottom of the picture, she smiled even more.

“To my 눈송이,
I did it! I finally did it! I won my first trophy!
Honestly, I wouldn’t have done it without you. You’ve been the one supporting me.
You were also the one to cheer me up whenever I was down.
Thank you for being by my side throughout the thick and thin.
I’m glad I met you and I’m glad you’re here to stay.
You mean a lot to me. :)
From your 개구리 왕자”

Su Hwa was brought back into reality when she felt a pair of hands grip onto her shoulder. Caught off guard, she flinched and let out a soft yelp. This resulted in a laughter coming from the culprit; Choi Minho.
“Gosh, you should’ve seen your face,” He said, laughing harder with each word.
“Aish, this kid” Su Hwa muttered as she turned around and flicked his head, earning a small yelp from him.
“Yah, what was that for?” He said as he rubbed his raw forehead.
“That was for scaring me and then laughing,” She replied.
“Hey, it’s not my fault you were in your own world. And I couldn’t help it; you looked hilarious,” He said as he started cracking up again.
“Meanie” She muttered as she pushed him lightly, causing him to chuckle. As she turned to take the necessary things from her locker, Minho’s eyes fell upon the photo on her locker door and he couldn’t help but smile upon seeing it.
“Hey I remember that picture,” He said, smiling. “It was taken two years ago and it was also the day I won my first trophy.” He added, smiling at the memory. Su Hwa smiled too but then it hit her.
It was also the day I tried to confess to you but failed to.

Flashback

“Su Hwa! I did it! I won my first trophy!” Minho exclaimed as he ran towards her and pulled her into a huge hug. He was sweaty but she didn’t care. She wanted to be in his arms forever.
But forever didn’t exist. And even she knew that.
As he released her from his grip, she concealed her sadness with a large grin.
“I’m so proud of you! See, I told you; you could do it! Congratulations!” She exclaimed.
“Thank you,” He smiled.
“It was all thanks to you. You’re the reason why I won. You gave me confidence and always supported me. Thank you. I don’t know what I would do without you,” He added as he pulled her into another hug. Without knowing it, his words had a greater impact on her than he had intended.
“I’m going to do it today. I’m going to tell him the truth,” She thought in her head. For the first time, she was prepared to do it.
She was ready to confess.
“Hey Minho!” Upon hearing his name being called, he released her from his hug yet again. Turning to the direction of the voice, he smiled.
“Hey Dae Ho!” He said as Dae Ho, the school journalist, made his way towards them.
“Would you mind if I took a picture of you and your trophy for the school’s paper?” Dae Ho asked.
“Not at all! But you’d have to include Su Hwa in the picture,” Minho beamed.
“Sure!” Dae Ho replied, smiling at her.
Su Hwa’s eyes widened. Turning to Minho, she shook her head and said, “No, no. It’s okay. I’m not the one with the trophy. You are.”
“But you’re the reason I got this trophy. So just look at the camera and smile.” With that, he slung his arm around her and smiled at the camera as Dae Ho prepared to take a picture.
“1,2-” Recollecting herself, she looked at the camera and smiled.
“Thanks! I’ll give you a copy of the photo later. Well, see you guys around,” Dae Ho bid them goodbye and ran off. Once his figure was out of sight, Minho turned to Su Hwa.
“Thank you. Really.” He smiled.
“Do it now, Su Hwa.” She thought upon seeing the opportunity held out right in front of her.
“Minho, there’s something I have to tell you,” She said, sounding calmer than she had expected to.
“Sure, what is it?” He asked but before she could answer, someone called out his name.
“Hyung! Coach wants to see you!” said one of his Track and Field members.
Turning to Su Hwa, he said, “Hey, later okay? I have to go.”
Su Hwa felt her heart sink but made sure not to show it.
“Sure, I’ll see you later.” She smiled and gestured for him to go. Bidding her goodbye, he went off.
As she watched his figure disappear, she sighed inwardly and thought, “I’ll just tell him later.”
But ‘later’ never came.

End Flashback

--------------------------

“Hey, we better go now or else we’ll be late for class,” Minho said, snapping Su Hwa back into reality.
“Oh. Right,” she nodded, closing her locker door. Just as they were about to make their way to class, she remembered something.
“Hey, what did Hyun Woo talk about to you? It seemed pretty serious.” She mentioned and just like that, the atmosphere grew tense. Minho froze upon hearing her words and tried to string a sentence but couldn’t.
“Minho?” She said softly, noticing the sudden change in his demeanour.
Snapping out of his thoughts, he shook his head.
“It’s nothing, really. We should head to class now,” He replied but she didn’t buy it. She knew something was up but she didn’t want to pester him anymore so she simply dropped the topic.
“Okay then,” She said as the two of them made their way to class.
Meanwhile, Minho couldn’t help but to feel a lump form in his throat.
I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I couldn’t bring myself to.
