Jongin probably underestimated the power of those people who had nothing to lose.
He never really thought about the refugees if he was honest. They were just estimated numbers, nothing more nor less than the numbers of vehicles thefts and  traffic accident victims. It had nothing to do with him and his superiors made sure that no one within the Special Forces was given the chance to think too deeply about the possibility of leaving the country.

It was only because the Korean participants within the Killing Games really gave the country a horrible reputation that anyone cared. But even after the dozens of raids on Chinese ships and even stricter regulations nothing really changed. That's why they used him to gain inside knowledge about the whole slave trading process. Even if they couldn't stop anything that happened outside their country's borders, it was essential to know exactly who it was they were fighting.

And now the whole plan was in danger because of a potential riot. It was really ironical in a way and he couldn't decide whether he wanted to help them escape or whether it would be best to break the whole thing down.

", is he dead?" Byun Baekhyun exclaimed and was on his knees next to Chanyeol to test whether he was still breathing.

"No. Just unconscious," he said. It probably was his first mistake. Siding with the guy who barged inside and closed the door wasn't really what he had in mind but Chanyeol in a blind fury definitely wasn't a good idea either. He already had more than enough near-death burn experiences, he didn't really need one where he couldn't even leave at his own free will.
The guy called Kim Jongdae obviously didn't know that reasoning though, as he smiled at him gratefully.

Jongin thought that it was probably best to wait and see. He figured that the legitimate owners of the ship would eventually get hold of the situation.

Just, nothing happened. Kim Jongdae who introduced himself as 'Chen' explained that they would have to wait for the right moment to get out and overpower the rest. He asked the others about their powers and tried to come up with a combat plan but was obviously slightly overwhelmed.  He seemed to know the ship really well but not what to do with the people he was trying to save.

Outside they kept hearing angry noises and for a few minutes Kim Minseok or 'Xiumin' as Chen called him who told them that nothing would happen to them as long as they just came out themselves to negotiate. Chen ignored him.

And the more minutes passed without any productive thought, the more did Jongin want to take the lead.

"I mean, you heard him. He said they won't harm us," Baekhyun said nervously and looked at Chanyeol who lay on one of the bunk beds, still passed out. He probably wondered whether it wasn't better to go outside rather than to stay in a room with hostile maniacs.

"They can make us stop," Chen said as he inspected an airduct at the back of the room. "And I mean, literally stop. If you're lucky they just freeze you in time until they sell you off."

"So what if we're not lucky?" Sehun asked and Chen smirked humourlessly as he stood up and looked at the pathetic bunch. Suho and Kyungsoo were sill just staring into space, Baekhyun seemed very much opposed to any of Chen's ideas and Sehun looked as if he was close to a fit.

"Listen," Chen said. "I'm just saying that you can't trust those people. I get it. They seem really likeable and you all probably really thought about your decision to join them of all people but seriously? Do you really think some Chinese people would help you out of the goodness of their hearts?" He shook his head in exasperation. "I mean, they would obviously charge you more if this was a serious business."

"They charged quite a lot though," Baekhyun said meekly.

"Right," Chen scoffed. "Thank you for proving that you refugees obviously know about making money."

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Baekhyun spat out sarcastically. "I didn't know that you were not just a mere refugee like the rest of us but what, the modern Superman?"

Chen was about to retort something, when the ship suddenly moved violently. Chen was swept of his feet, Chanyeol almost fell off the bed and Kyungsoo burried his head in his arms.

"What was that?" Sehun who had clung to the ladder of one of the beds yelped.

Before anyone had a chance to answer, someone banged on the door.

"Chen!" they heard Kim Minseok yell. "Please, come out already! We're going to crash and not even that cell will save you when the whole ship explodes."

Chen looked extremely spooked and instinctly moved to the door before he stopped himself. It could easily be a trap.

"Chen, please!" Kim Minseok yelled. "This isn't a joke. I don't know what's going on with the ship but it's getting out of on control and none of us knows what to do."
