Chen frankly was disappointed when the people inside the cell just stared at him in bewilderment.
It was probably because he didn't really make clear just what it was they were supposed to be afraid of but he figured that the power breakdowns, him knocking out Luhan and Xiumin freezing the complete corridor without any sense of aim after Chen threw that can with oil at him were enough to shock any average human being. But well, they had light in this room, so they probably didn't realize the graveness of what he did.
For a few seconds he was unsure himself what he was supposed to do when he remembered that Luhan and Xiumin were still outside and would soon get back on their feet again. He had been close to being stabbed to death through Xiumin's uncoordinated icicle attack before, so he really didn't want to run into that risk again. So he closed the door and opened the control next to it to make sure that no one could enter from the outside.

It was then that someone finally reacted. "What the hell are you doing?" Chanyeol snapped and jumped up in an attempt to drag him away from the door.

"Saving our lives, my dear Canlie," he muttered as he elbowed Chanyeol.
He knew that Chanyeol could become a problem. Chanyeol was so stupidly happy about being saved from certain death, he didn't seem to notice that he was in the hands of people who could and would get rid of him eventually. Chen knew the Chinese, he had bought stuff from them for years. He knew how they ticked and he knew that they weren't to be trusted, especially not if their job was to gain money through illegal means.

"How is it saving anyone's lives if you shut us in?" a guy in the back asked coolly and Chen sighed. He didn't know what he expected but he these people could have at least given him the kindness to answer questions in the proper order.

"Well," he said after he made sure that the door was safely locked and looked at the guy in the corner who seemed neither surprised nor as freaked out as the others. "As long as we're in this room, they can't get inside. It's power proof. So we're safe as long as we're here."
Chanyeol touched the door and looked as if he tried to melt it down in vain, just as if he wanted to prove Chen's point.

"So it's true?" another tall guy who seemed very spooked asked and stared at the door Chanyeol now started to punch. "They're going to, you know, sell us?"

"Bingo!" Chen said, glad that someone finally asked the right things. "While we are in here, we can think of a way to escape the ship."

The corner guy nodded in the direction of Chanyeol, still not impressed. "So why is he trying to get out?"

Chen shook his head. "Because he's an idiot."
And so was he. It would have been easier to shove Chanyeol out of the door but Chen's own stupid loyalty towards his countrymen stopped him from doing so. He even tried to be reasonable with Xiumin, that would-be Chinese who was still treated like a mere slave despite everything he did. It was Xiumin who attacked him first after Luhan got that tiny electric shock because he was trying to rip off the apparatus Chen used to gain control over the ship.

"Oh, shut up, Kim Jongdae," Chanyeol muttered, his hands balled to fists. "Just how much of an ungrateful are you?" The temperature in the room suddenly rose dangerously. "And anyway, if you want to run away so much, why can't you just do it on your own?"
Chen figured that the idiot probably really was him. There should have been better ways than to lock himself into a room with Chanyeol, the occasional choleric.

He frantically thought of things to say that could soothe him but all he could think of were more things that would probably make him furious. He really should have excluded Chanyeol from this damn plan and anyway-
Before he had a chance to panic, Chanyeol's legs suddenly gave way under him and he fell to the ground with a thud. The corner guy stood behind him and sighed.
When everyone just stared at him he shrugged and explained, "I know him. He always burns things when he gets angry."
