The Start Of Our Friendship(?)

Incomprehensible Love

"M-Monkey...?" EunHyuk stared at the smirking boy in front of him. DongHae slowly stood up and frowned when he realized that his victim was taller than him. Whatever. It was just a few centimeters anyways. "Yes, monkey boy. Don't you have a mirror? You look like the humanification of a monkey." EunHyuk's eyebrows raised and went under his black bangs. Before EunHyuk could give a comment, the teacher arrived and he went back to his seat, taking one last glance at DongHae. The other boy simply sat down and pulled his cap lower, probably preparing for another nap.

"Good afternoon, class. I will write down the items you need for this subject, so make sure to copy them in your notebooks. After you're done copying, you are all free to do whatever you like, but make sure that you do not make a ruckus."

After EunHyuk was done copying the words on the board, he immediately felt a nudge in his ribs. He turned around and was met with SungMin's death glare. "W-What?" EunHyuk gulped loudly. SungMin sighed and turned his chair to face EunHyuk. He leaned back into his chair and asked: "What happened to you when we entered the class earlier? You got all nervous and quiet all of a sudden." EunHyuk smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his head. "I guess I...I'm just not used to being in a class with so many students..." SungMin raised an eyebrow to indicate that he didn't believe a word his seatmate just said.

"Tell me the truth, EunHyuk. I'm not stupid." EunHyuk looked down at his lap and fiddled with his pants. "I...It's nothing. You don't need to know." SungMin sighed. "But I want to know, and you are going to tell me." EunHyuk looked up at SungMin, returning his glare. SungMin flinched. "I can tell you, but only after you explain your change of attitude earlier when we were heading towards the cafeteria. You said something about nobody liking you---" SungMin clamped both his hands over EunHyuk's mouth and shushed him.

"Okay, fine. We will talk about this, but privately. Do you want to come to my house after school today?" SungMin asked. EunHyuk blinked a few times, trying to register what SungMin just said to him. However, he seemed to have mistaken EunHyuk's dazed response as insecurity. "If you still don't trust me yet, which I can completely understand since we've just met, how 'bout I go to your house instead? I don't know why, but I really think we need to sort this out." EunHyuk nodded slowly, and SungMin beamed. "Yay~ So I'll go home with you after school then! Wait, let me text my bro."

Unconsciously, EunHyuk smiled, feeling a surge of excitement from making a new friend.

What EunHyuk didn't know was, DongHae heard their conversation and he glared at the two students with clenched teeth. When EunHyuk turned around slightly, he quickly pulled his cap lower to cover more of his face as he grimaced and pretended to sleep.

SungMin tried to contain his laughter as he saw how EunHyuk pulled out shoe lifts from his school shoes. Before he could say anything to the pouting boy in front of him, he spotted a woman who he supposed was EunHyuk's mother.

"Good afternoon, auntie."

"Oh my, what a polite child! Hello! Now you go upstairs with Hyukkie here and I'll get you sweet children some snacks, okay?" EunHyuk's mother cooed at SungMin's cute face and she pinched EunHyuk's face as an after-thought. EunHyuk politely removed his mother's rough hands and excused themselves.

Once SungMin entered EunHyuk's room, he gaped at the sparkling clean room. "Whoa...you sure are a neat freak, aren't you?" EunHyuk laughed and placed their bags in a corner of the room. "Sit on the bed while I change for a moment."

SungMin hummed as he watched EunHyuk take out a shirt and a pair of shorts. "Would you mind if I change here?" SungMin smiled and shook his head. However, he couldn't help but gasp when he saw EunHyuk's abs. "You...you work out?" EunHyuk looked at his friend, then at his muscles. He chuckled and explained: "Not really. At first, my muscles started showing because I did most of the work when we first moved here from our old house in another neighbourhood. After that, my sister caught me shirtless while I was gaming. Since then, she has bought me all kinds of equipment to maintain my abs."

SungMin giggled and nodded in understanding. "Yep, girls are like that alright." EunHyuk raised an eyebrow at SungMin's direction. "What? I thought you told me you only had a younger brother." SungMin nodded in agreement and replied, "Well, I have a mum, a bunch of female relatives and female friends, you know."

EunHyuk was already done changing when SungMin finished his explanation. "Since we're on that topic already, care to tell me about what you meant when you said that 'no one likes you that way'?"
SungMin took a deep breath, and said: "Alright, I'll start first then. As you probably know already, I have tons of female friends, but the thing is, none of them sees me as a man."

EunHyuk pulled out his desk chair and sat on it, listening intently. "I just have this mindset that I should be polite and treat girls properly...and they love it when I'm gentle, caring and cute, so I continue to do all those things, but it seems like this kind of personality would only attract friends, not girlfriends. Believe me, I have never had a proper girlfriend before. They were girls who treated me like I'm special, but in the end, they would end up dating manlier guys, and I just don't know what to do...this is honestly making me feel more and more insecure as the days pass..."

"But hyung, I thought you said you practiced martial arts? Won't that make you manlier in their eyes? I'm sure some of them are serious about you...maybe you just haven't noticed?" EunHyuk leaned his body on the backrest of the chair, resting his head on top of his arms.

"Yeah, but I don't practice martial arts to show off...most of the girls I know have never seen me using my nunchucks before. I only practice to protect the girl I like in the future." SungMin sighed and looked at his lap, depressed. EunHyuk pushed his chair using his feet towards his bed. A few centimetres in front of SungMin, EunHyuk smiled and ruffled SungMin's hair. "It's alright. I'm sure your soulmate will come to you in time. Someone once told me that your soulmate would reach you with time. You don't even need to search. You'll know when they appear. So don't be depressed, okay, hyung?" SungMin looked up at EunHyuk and flashed a small smile. He nodded and urged EunHyuk to explain his sudden change in behaviour when they entered the classroom that afternoon.

"W-well...I don't know how to tell you this...Y-You'll hate me if I tell you the real reason..." EunHyuk bit his lower lip and looked at SungMin, feeling unsure. It was SungMin's turn to ruffle his dongsaeng's hair. "Hey, I told you about my insecurities that I've never shared with anyone before. I was scared that you might hate me too, you know. It's fine. I swear I won't hate you no matter what you're going to say next. And mind you, I'm a man who keeps his promises." SungMin gave a reassuring smile and EunHyuk couldn't help but to smile along, thinking that SungMin's cutesy-act for girls aren't all that scripted and fake at all. It seems as if his hyung has natural aegyo.

"Okay...um...you see...I...Lee DongHae..." EunHyuk stuttered with a flushed face. SungMin patted his shoulder and asked in a low voice, "What about him?" EunHyuk looked at SungMin, face getting redder by the minute. Suddenly, a few knocks was heard on the door. EunHyuk abruptly stood up and dashed to the door, startling SungMin.

"U-Umma! Oh, thank you so much for these lovely bis---" EunHyuk's mother slapped him lightly across his face. "What are you on about? What a weird son I have..." She muttered, annoyed. Then, as if she suffers from being bipolar, she turned to SungMin with a hundred-million watt smile. "SungMin~~ssi~~~Oh, look at these biscuits! I baked them yesterday!~ Care to have a try?" SungMin nodded politely and took a piece of chocolate-chip cookie. He took a small bite and overreacted. "YUMMMMM~~~ I've never tasted anything more delicious!"

EunHyuk scoffed and SungMin glared at him slightly. However, EunHyuk's mother seemed to buy the act, too well, in fact. "AWWWW~! THANK YOU! I'll make sure to make more for you, okay~" She shoved the whole tray and a carton of milk to SungMin and slammed the door shut. SungMin sweatdropped while EunHyuk stood up, grumbling.

"Right. You were saying?" EunHyuk gulped as he looked at his hyung who was throwing death glares at him. "You were trying to stall for time, weren't you? To think I even confessed such a dark secret..." SungMin grumbled and a purple aura surrounded him. EunHyuk squeaked and quickly pushed his hyung down to sit on his bed after placing the tray of food on his desk. Of course, he didn't forget to stuff a cookie into SungMin's mouth first. While he was crunching on the cookie like an angry cookie monster, EunHyuk regained his composure and continued in a barely audible voice, "I...like Lee DongHae..."

SungMin spat out the contents in his mouth. EunHyuk's eyes widened in alarm as he swiftly wiped off the substance on his floor with a tissue. SungMin just stared into space.
"W...What did you just say?" EunHyuk looked up at his so-called friend, annoyed. He glared before reality downed upon him. He blushed and became just as flustered as he tried to repeat his confession.

"I...I-I-I l-like Lee D-Dong...H-Hae..." EunHyuk clenched his eyes and waited for SungMin to call off their friendship. Instead, he received a hug. "Why?"
EunHyuk was startled at the sudden question. "Why...what?"

"Why do you like him?" EunHyuk hugged back while he pondered over his answer. He was just so relieved that SungMin did not push him away. "I...love at first sight?" SungMin let go of his friend and EunHyuk clenched his eyes in fear. "Hmm..." SungMin mumbled absent-mindedly. "Okay. Give me some time to do research him." EunHyuk's head shot up and his eyes met with SungMin's. "Research...Lee DongHae-ssi?"

SungMin crossed his arms in front of his chest and nodded. "Yes. Love at first sight does not exist. I have never felt it before, and the people around me who believed in this 'love at first sight' thing always end up getting hurt. I don't want that to happen to you, so let me make sure that Lee DongHae-ssi is a good guy first." SungMin flashed a small smile and EunHyuk teared up. Touched, he hugged the life out of his friend. SungMin chuckled and hugged back, comfortable with the happy friendship that has formed between them.

I'm supposed to stay away from DongHae-ssi until SungMin finishes his research...I'm supposed to...but...

.

.

.

"Yo, monkey face. I hope you haven't forgotten that you owe me one now."

Lee Dong Hae is my classmate. Who literally sits behind me.

"Y-Yes...what would you like me to do for you?"

EunHyuk held in a sigh. He shouldn't have come to school early. He should have waited at the school gates for SungMin. He should have.

But he did not.

EUNHYUK'S P.O.V

How would I know that Lee DongHae, the seemingly bad student would arrive at school earlier than me?! Argh, I am in big trouble. I shouldn't be so happy about this.

"Y-Yes...what would you like me to do for you?"

Instead of replying me like a normal person would, DongHae grabbed my wrist and forcefully dragged me out of the classroom. Yes, I did try to escape, but only because I promised SungMin I wouldn't go near DongHae yet. If it wasn't for that, I would've been squealing by now. Anyways, DongHae yanked me to an unfamiliar location in the school. Then it hit me. We were entering the area of the school that KangIn warned not to go close to. I panicked and was stupid enough to think that DongHae was oblivious about this.

"D-DongHae-ssi...Uhm...w-we shouldn't go near here..." My voice cracked as we walked upwards through an old, narrow staircase. DongHae stopped and turned around to look at me. He was two steps above me, so I had to look up at him. "Why not?" DongHae glared. I gulped and mumbled, "My friend told me that we shouldn't enter this area of the school...it's dangerous..." DongHae smirked and continued to drag me upstairs. I kept protesting but I automatically shut up when we reached an old, metal door after climbing two dirty staircases.

DongHae slammed open the door and a bunch of scary looking guys came into my sight. It seems like we reached the roof top. All of them were freakishly tall or buff. Two tall guys stood leaning against a wall where the white paint had long fallen off. They looked up upon hearing the loud slamming of the door. The first guy with short, brown hair greeted us nonchalantly and went straight back to playing his PSP. The second guy that was standing next to him, however, turned off his Ipod and walked over towards us.
He had dyed-red hair that reached just below his ears. He arranged his bangs and smirked at me. DongHae lightly pushed him away, complaining, "HeeChul hyung, don't get close to him!"
The guy rolled his eyes and patted my head. I looked up at him and bowed slightly. "Awww, you're so cute! Make sure to seduce my Hae well and make him completely yours, okay~? Oh, and call me HeeChul Oppa."

My eyes widened when he finished talking. "HeeChul...Oppa?" I repeated unsurely. He flashed me the largest smile I have ever seen and danced his way back to the gamer from before. HeeChul...Oppa...pointed aggressively at the gamer and screamed at us: "THIS IS KYUHYUN! HE LOOKS OLD BUT HE'S ONLY 15~~~~" HeeChul sang. I raised my eyebrows in confusion. I'm 15 as well, so why is he making such a fuss out of it? Ah, maybe it's cause he's 16 but is in first grade or something. The guy named KyuHyun smacked HeeChul on the head and growled like an animal. I squeaked and unconsciously stood closer to DongHae. I only realized this when DongHae left my side to fist bump a tall and muscular guy. I stood there awkwardly, but soon the guys started to approach me.

The first guy to reach me was extremely tall. He looked down at me as we shook hands. When he introduced himself as Zhou Mi, I noticed he had an accent and later found out that he was from China. The next guy that shook my hands was also Chinese. His name was HanKyung and I was slightly intimidated by him, since he looked much more muscular as compared to Zhou Mi.

Luckily, a smaller guy appeared...well, he's still taller than me, but at least he acted cuter and well, friendlier. He greeted, "Hi, I'm Henry! I'm...My mum is a Taiwanese and my dad is a---" Zhou Mi interrupted by saying, "He's a Canadian Chinese."

I finally mustered up the courage to laugh and Henry pouted cutely. I guess they weren't as scary as I thought. All of a sudden DongHae came and did a headlock. I almost choked as he dragged me to the tall guy he was talking to. The guy smiled sweetly at me and I blushed, thinking about how handsome he was. I almost missed his introductions.
So his name is SiWon---"Yah! Why are all of you trying to seduce MY catch?!" Everyone present went mute all of a sudden. I shivered and took a step away from DongHae, who had long released me.
"Oh no you don't! I haven't even talked to you yet!" The bell rang, cutting off DongHae's sentence.

Everyone groaned and started to exit the rooftop. I followed suit but wasn't able to do so since DongHae grabbed my collar and pulled me towards him. When the metal door was shut, he glared at me with full force. I couldn't help but stare at him in bewilderment.

"Yesterday...you went back home with a guy, didn't you?" DongHae gritted out. I looked at him nervously and opened my mouth to reply, but he cut me off. "From today onwards, you are my property. You are not allowed to bring people home with you, and it is compulsory for you to follow me wherever I go, and you have to follow all the orders I give you." DongHae poked my chest and glared up at me with a pout. I wanted to squeal at the cute sight but I was too busy gaping.

"W-what? But all I did was wake you up from your nap a bit!" DongHae's pout deepened and he wailed about how the world was unfair and that I was the one in the wrong. I sighed and somehow, by the end of first period spent on the rooftop with this rude-mouthed kid, DongHae had convinced me to agree to his whims.
