Chapter 2
My Husband's WifeThe clinking of fine silverware is the only sound that is heard in the dining room of the Choi's; that is until his son looks up at Seunghyun with those big round eyes and innocently asks.
"Where's my baseball, daddy?"
He turns to his son, and looks back to see that everybody at the table are staring at him. His wife raises her brows and speaks.
"Did you lost it, little Seunghyun? I'll help you find it later, okay?" She coos, feeding her son food with a spoon.
Seunghyun looks down at his lap; somehow he feels like his mother is giving him a knowing look as if she knows he went up the hills.
"Daddy hit it reallllyyyy hard, and it flew up the hills!" Little Seunghyun says excitedly in his seat, making his wife shifts her gaze over to him. Even his dad takes his eyes off the newspapers.
"You hit it where?" His wife asks him, her tone slightly interrogative as if she is asking why he returned home late last night.
He clears his throat and speaks clearly.
"Up the hills." He is just about to clarify that he didn't go up there until his mother stands up and goes into the living room.
"You just have to tick her off in the morning." His dad comments flatly as he returns to reading his newspapers.
His give gives him a pointed look as she continues feeding their son. He gazes away sheepishly, not knowing why an adult was being scolded for hitting a ball too hard. Anything that brings up the topic of the hills behind the mansion seems to inspire a heavy atmosphere.
His mother returns to the dining room moments later. She crosses over to him and puts his son's baseball in front of him, to his astonishment.
"Here. Don't do that again." His mother says sternly, giving him the eye before going back to her seat.
He stares at the ball, surprised and curious. So she went up the hills herself? She enforces the rule and she broke it herself?
Did she go up there to find the ball or did she go for something else?
The thought that she went up there to find the ball was illogical. She didn't know he hit the ball up
