Boa’s POV

I entered Jae’s studio. It was full of instruments, and I could still smell his scent in the place.

I smiled and approached the piano.

Even if he had many pianos he always used the shinny white one in the middle of the room.

I didn’t find an explanation for it until he explained to me that it seemed really similar

to his father’s piano that his mother had to sell in order to gain money.

I sighed and sat on the piano bench.

Jae had told me that the project had been delayed and he had to stay one more week in Canada.

I missed him, but I knew the project was important for him so I just gave him

all the encouragement I could by phone.

I opened the cover of the piano keys and put my fingers on them.

I haven’t played the piano in so long.

I looked through the window and the moon was shinning beautifully in the sky.

Alone, no stars…

I sighed before I started playing that melody.

That melody that made me open up my heart and that always held an unknown meaning that only Jae knew…

The melody he played for me in the chapel near the lake so many years ago.

But I remembered it completely because it was the first one I played by my own in the piano.

I begged Jae so much for him to teach me to play it until he finally accepted.

And as I played and remembered I felt a pair of hands on top of mine.

I turned slowly and saw Jae behind me.

“Shhh…” was the only thing that escaped from his mouth.

I just turned to look at the piano keys were our hands were playing.

I heard the beautiful melody again and smiled.

“I missed you….” He said as soon as the last note got lost in the air.

“I missed you too…and I missed this melody….”

He hugged me from behind.

“Let me tell you a secret….” He said and sat beside me.

I looked at him and he caressed my face.

“This is a magical melody…”

I smiled and put my head on his shoulder.

“Seriously….how do you think my father convinced my mother to marry him?” He said chuckling.

I looked up at him with wide open eyes.

“Shhh…” he said and I put my head on his shoulder again.

“You didn’t want to tell me about your past that day…did you?”
 

“You just followed your ‘new friend’…you didn’t want to tell me that

you were regretting accepting to sing with me and less your whole story…

But I played the magical melody and it worked.”

I smiled.

“I don’t think it was the melody…” I said snuggling next to him.

He smiled.

“Don’t you believe in magic? That melody opened the possibility for you to open up your heart to me that day.”

I gave him a peck on the lips.

“I do believe in magic, but why do you wanted me to share my heart with you in that moment…?”

“I wasn’t sure either….not even now. I just went away to think and entered that chapel.

Then I saw you and the piano. And I wasn’t sure what I wanted to play….”

He hugged me by the waist and rested his head on top of mine… “But you inspired that melody in me…”

“That melody…..that melody that opened the possibility to open up my heart to you…”

“Uhum….The melody of a possibility…”

Because before that day we were strangers, classmates, but that day we became friends.

And our story began like that…through a melody that opened our hearts,

which made us discover more about ourselves, about each other and about friendship and love.
