“Please Grandma don’t leave me.. I promise I will be a good girl for you, I promise I will give you everything, I promise I will take care of you and love you just like the way you did to me. Grandma, please...” Dara sadly says as she hugs her grandma’s coffin.

Her grandma just died this morning. She was died at the age of 71.

She had a cancer just like Dara’s mother.

But Dara felt so grateful, tough. Because her grandma realized that she had a cancer right after she felt there’s something wrong on her body. It went different with Dara’s mother. Her mother realized she got a cancer when the sickness was on its highest stadium, No one can’t save her.

But Dara’s grandma, as soon as she received news from the doctor about her cancer, immediately she did the daily check up and regulary went into the hospital.

“I live for too long already Dara-ya.. I’m so ready if God wants to take me away.” Dara remembers her Grandma said those words to her just three days a go. Dara cries harder and louder.

Dara rubbed her trembling hand on the coffin’s glass. “Grandma! Please wake up, I don’t know what to do without you.. Please don’t leave me!” Dara whines, continuously hugging her grandma’s coffin.

“You have to be strong Dara-ya, your grandma surely will be sad if she sees you being like this..” Her neighbors wishper as they try to calm Dara’s down.

Dara turns to them. “How to be strong when your one and only family is now leaving you!?” Dara yells and turns her back again to continue her crying show. She lost her cool. She doesn’t care anymore. She just couldn’t believe this kind of reality. Her grandma, left her? “Grandmaaa….” She calls her grandma desperately again, hoping her grandma would wake up and smack her head for being too loud.

‘What would I do without her?’ Dara tought.

Dara hears some gasps from behind. But she doesn’t give a because she is too busy to do her crying mess.

Suddenly, she feels a light tap on her shoulder, Not bothering to turn around, thinking it might be her annoying neighbors again, Dara ignores the tap on her shoulder. “Grandmaaaaaaaa please wake up!” Dara continues sobbing like crazy.

The tap on her shoulder grows harder and impatient. It literally shakes her shoulder. Dara turns around to face the culprit. “What the hell!? What is your prob—”

Dara gasps when she sees the culprit who has been bothering her.

His feature looks like an angel, So handsome and beautiful at the same time. He has a very-very perfect face, plump lips, fierce eyes, thick eyebrows, high and tight jaw, beautiful chin... He is so captivating, gorgerous, what a perfection.

“Who are you?” Dara dumbly asks him.

The guy clears his throat. “Sandara Park, right?”

Dara frowned. “Who are you?” She repeats her question.

He rakes his seemingly-soft hair frustatingly. “How to say this..” The guy curses, confused with the explanation he has to give to Dara. He cleares his throat once again. “uhm.. My name is Wu Yifan, Please call me Kris.”

Dara stares at him from head to toe. Totally doesn’t understand the whole situation plus the stranger in front of her.  “What do you want from me? Err… Kris Wu-sshi?”

“It’s nice to meet you Sandara.” He trailed.“You might be confused and shock, but I really have to say this...”

Her frown getting deeper and deeper. “What is that? Just tell me, Kris Wu-sshi.”

“Alright.” He takes a deep breath before opening his mouth again. Carefully he says, “Well... so, from now on... I’m going to take care of you. You will be under my protection.”

Silent.

“WHAT!?”

Kris covers his ears immediately. “My ears..” He growls, cupping his aching ears.

“What did you just say!?”

He heaves a deep sigh. This is going to be hard, he tought. “I—“

“What do you mean by taking care of me!?”

“It’s—“

“Who the hell are you!?”

“Kris. My name is Kris.”

“I knew your name already, Mister. But that is not my question! Who are you exactly and what do you mean by—“

“Will you calm down first!? I will answer all your  goddamn questions but please just calm the down first!”

Dara clamps quickly. “S... Sorry, I’m too shocked.”

“It’s okay..” Kris shortly replied. “Ah... I’m sorry to... I didn’t mean to curse at you... “

She gulps. “Y... yea it’s okay... I guess.”

“…”

“Kris-sshi.. I don’t understand.”

Kris looks up. “Of course you didn’t understand. I suddenly came and confusing you. Sorry... once again.”

“It’s okay..” Dara shortly says.

Silent.

She coughs, “Err..when I said I don’t understand it means you have to explain to me, Kris-sshi..”

“Oh.. I’m sorry… Okay, wait… Where should I start?”

Dara rolled her eyes. “From the very start, please.”

“But the story was too long.” Kris lazily groans

She gasps. “GAAAH! I’m going crazy here! Really, I should’ve woke my grandma up!”

Dara takes the envelope Kris gave her awhile a ago. “What is this?” she asks him while frowning confusedly.

“Just read it. I made a deal with your grandma, about 5 years a go.” He replies as he takes a sip of his coffe.

They’re now in her living room, after all those awkward moment, the funeral of her grandma, she decided to bring him to her and her  grandma’s house instead. They need to talk about this. About who was he and what was his connection with her grandmother.

“5 years a go?”

He nods. “Yeah.”

Dara opens the envelope and takes out the paper inside of it. She reads it with a loud voice.

“To my dearest kid, Wu Yifan.” She starts. “Kris, I already made the clearer version of our deal 5 years a go. Did you remember your promise to me? You promised me to take care of my one and only granddaughter, Sandara if I passed away. Kris, I love her to death. I love her with all my life. But sadly, I know I won’t last long. I’m too old already.”

Dara let her tears fall. Kris reaching out his hand to wipe her tears away.

She was shocked at first with his sudden action but she let him be. Surprisingly, she already feels comfortable with this man.

“I’ll continue.” Dara says with raspy voice. Kris nods. “Okay..”

“I wrote this letter to remind you, Kris-ah. I just want you to take care my granddaughter. I know she will be sad and lonely as I leave her. I want you to be around her, to be the person she will ever need. You’re the only one who I trust to take care of her, Kris. Please keep your promise, okay?” She weakly smiles and continues reading.
