Blue Tears of the Sea

Blue Tears of the Sea [one-shot]

-OC POV-

Recently I've went to this bookfair with my Korean BFF, Lime, and got a book at the RECOMMENDED category, written by some Korean dude called "Pureun Bada", which literally meant "blue sea". My first impression was that the author's good-looking, until she told me that he is a famous author in the country and this was his first book to be translated and shipped worldwide.

Wow.

I didn't hesitate to buy it. I trust Lime because she knows all the good books.

Lime read it before, and we talked about it in the car. She commented that this author has a very special writing structure.beside writing as a first point-of-view, it comes like a music album, one title track with a lot of sidetracks. This one too, with one themed short fiction (which Lime said are normally based on his life), with several small drabbles to fill in. The foreword and cover, of course, are made based on his "title story" too.

FOREWORD

I'm happy that you, who is reading this, bought my collection of drabbles, and what the others call, a big comeback. Haha~ Yes, after two years, I'm back with another list of your favourite catoegorized stories.

This time I themed my list: Blue Marble.
There are many stories in here end twisted and sad, especially the title story, "Blue Tears of the Sea". For the first time, I'm using real names as each's characters respectively, as in I'm writing this story as Do Kyungsoo's perspective. That's my real name, buddy.

I hope you all would continue supporting me in the future, and wish you Merry Christmas!

Also, if you're reading this, Kai, wish you and Soojung a happy family!

Your author to be,

Pureun Bada -Kyungsoo-

Yeah, so that was what he wrote in the foreword. I immediately flipped to the next page for the most anticipated, title fiction.

~BLUE TEARS OF THE SEA~

Well,

This all happened quite some time ago.

"Could you help me pass these papers to Kai, Do-Do? I've got some urgent stuff to do." one of my colleagues passed me a stack of papers clipped together.

"Oh... sure." I answered immediately and brought the papers to my boss, which is Kai's room. I knocked a few times before I went in the room. My favourite room of the whole building.

"Amber noona asked me to send you these, Kai." I opened the door and saw Kai smiling on his phone and then only noticed me at the door. He gestured me to put them on his desk before he kissed his phone and disconnected.

"Soojung, right?" I smiled and teased my boss. He's been dating with this girl whom we knew since high school... say, about seven years ago. Well, if you wanted to know how the story started... I'll explain, but not now.

Kai said nothing but put up a brighter smile. "It's Movie Day (November 14th) today, " Kai put his spectacles on before he starts reading the documents I've sent earlier. "We're going to watch a movie tonight, which means we're closing down early today. Mind spreading the news?"

"Wow... really?" I just faked a smile. Jealousy always pop out of my mind when I hear the couple going for a date or what. "That... that's great news."

Kai giggled as he continued reading. I didn't want to make the peaceful silence convert into an awkward one, so I just went out and told my colleagues the good news.

"Kai said we could leave early for Movie Day, guys." I shouted as everyone clapped and shouted for joy. Seriously, no-one would like to be stuck in a cramped office floor for 8 hours just to type and publish books. Yes, since you all know who I am, of course I work in a publishing company.

"Hey guys, why not we have barbecque tonight? There's a branch somewhere here that my friend's family owns. Shall we dine-in there?" Luhan, clinging to his partner, Sehun's arm, suggested and got positive responses from everyone... except me.

"Sorry, folks, I'm not feeling well today..." I faked some coughs and rejected. Kai, who just walked out of his room heard it and gained concern. "What, Kyungsoo? Are you okay?"

"I'm... okay... just... yeah..." Another few faked coughs came in the way. "I just don't feel like partying tonight. I'll be fine, guys. "

As I see everyone, and every couple leave the room, I took a deep sigh and sat back on my chair. I arranged all the documents and scripts on my desk and decided to surf the web. As usual, it's all packed with fanmail. And more fanmail. I just couldn't believe I've became so popular since I started writing, while I'm still sitting here, doubting my writing skills.

Until I've recieved an e-mail from the UK.

It was an invitation letter to join their company.

That's me for you. Do Kyungsoo. Well known as "Pureun Bada" or Blue Sea in my country.

Well, as I promised, let me share my story with you.

Kai, Krystal (or Soojung) and I were best friends since high school. No-one knew I, surprisingly, had a huge crush on the tanned boy. Yes, I had a crush on Kai.

I wouldn't tell anyone that, and I hadn't to anyone, until you read this. I expect mouths in big circles screaming "Oh, my God" at this page. Haha.

Well... I had no idea how Kai actually found out that I liked him... and we kind of hung out for a while.

Soon after we graduated, we decided to open a publishing company together, since he liked doing businesses, and I was popular for artistic stuff and writing, I was the cover illustrator and author to most of the best selling books (you know that).

One day, this drunk driver decided to speed towards a crimson red light and knock me and Kai down. I was okay, Kai was unconscious, though. Which was why I had to send him to the hospital. On that white bed, the doctor responded to everyone that, our unfortunate Kai Kim Jongin, has lost his memory.

Now, here's how his and Soojung's story started to develop. Since I had to be at the office quite often for illustrating, I had to stay up late every day in the room before the accident. Imagine now he's in a critical situation, and I, the co-owner, had no choice but to take his place temporarily. I couldn't go to see him until midnights, so I asked Soojung to take care of him when I'm gone, since she's a part-time worker at a bakery just opposite the hospital.

One day he finally woke. Under Soojung's eyes. He thought Soojung was the one who saved him from the accident, which he knew was the reson why he is in the hospital. That led his heart to the girl, in which we silently broke up. And which broke my heart as well.

I always wanted to tell him the truth, but...

Well you see me as a man, but I, honestly, have a heart more fragile than a girl's. I wouldn't bear to see anyone get hurt because of me. Not even my enemies. Yes. Not even enemies.

Yeah... that was it...

One month later

"Congratulations Kai and Soojung!"

Confetti mess everywhere at the office entrance when Kai and Soojung entered the office. They just got engaged not long ago and are going to have a wedding somewhere next month, which is why Soojung paid us a visit today. We're going to decide where to hold the biggest ceremony of their lifes, which we still don't know where.

Yeah, we're going to celebrate it out of Korea. Kai's paying anyways.

"So where should we go?" Soojung, who clung onto her fiancé asked the group. Lots of responses were recieved.

"Let's go to Paris! I wanna climb the Eiffel tower!" Luna raised her hand and squealed out of excitement.

"I'd say China. The Great Wall can be a motivation for me to lose weight. I'm fat again." said Sungmin, our chubby-chubby writer.

"But Taiwan's full of bubble tea houses..." Sehun pouted as Luhan laughed and poked his boyfriend's nose.

"They're nice..." Kai nodded, while Soojung added. "But we'd like to go somewhere else... I remember there's this place in Maldives with this... what..."

"Bioluminescence?" Everyone looked at me as I finished Soojung's sentence. Next was a clap. "Yes, that's it! The bioluminescence sea waves! You guys have to see the pictures of it, they are gorgeous." Soojung took out her phone and started searching and showed everyone. They wowed at the glowing blue waves in the dark, creating a beautiful scenery.

"I'll check the ticket bookings and see if there are any resorts near those bio-things, then." Kai smiled and pecked his fiancée's forehead.

Why are those feelings coming up again. Those bitter feelings.

First night at Maldives.

And also the last night before their marriage.

I'm not the ones who can handle flights, so I couldn't join the others' games at the beach, while looking at the heavenly scenery of the bioluminescent waves.

Still, I haven't told anyone about the letter. But I already made up my choice. I'm going there. I even brought my resignation letter with me to Maldives, which I decided to give it to Kai after the ceremony. I wouldn't want to ruin his wedding mood.

Midnight

I went to the beach alone after feeling better. After hours in the toilet. Disgusting.

I leaned my head on a boulder that had the perfect angle for me to have a sideway view. Blue Sea... matches my pen name perfectly.

I suddenly pictured scenes of the future. I pictured Kai and Soojung, playing around with their children... taking family photographs... sending them to school...

My tears fell unknowningly.

It was as if the sky felt the same. Thunder raged and, soon, down came the rain as well.

Perhaps something in my mind wasn't afraid to be seen by anyone that I'm crying, that I began to cry harder. I don't know how much have passed, and I don't know how I was spotted, I was sheltered under an umbrella by Kai. I couldn't resist anymore, I went into his friendly embrace and continued crying.

Next day

"No wonder Soojung fell for you, Kai."

I forced the widest smile I ever could, while I comment on the tanned boy who's standing infront of me. No, he's a man now. A proper man who is ready to have a family.

"Thanks, Do-Do. I wouldn't want anything more than this. It's the best day of my life!"

Yes, I could tell.

"I'm so happy I met her in my life."

I'm happy I met you, too.

"Mr Kim, your bride is ready~" Luna opened the door and brought Soojung in. She's really, just really, pretty in that light blue gown. To be honest, I would've fell for her if I was Kai, too. Well, now I know how he feels.

"You're pretty, Soojung." Kai walked closer to kiss his bride.

"You're handsome too, Kai." Soojung smiled back, as they walked slowly out and to the wedding hall.

I sighed of relief since no-one realised I wasn't following. I left the resignation letter and locked the door, as I walked back to my room. After changing, I packed my things and went out to the lobby.

Airport

I could hear him shout my name from a long distance. But I couldn't stop, I'm late for my flight already.

I hear his voice becoming gradually louder.

I hear him... crying.

"Excuse me, do you know when is the flight to UK?" Kai asked the reception counter, tears b in his eyes.

"It has just taken off, sir."

The worst news in his life.

He couldn't stand the tears in his eyes. He ran into the nearest toilet and bawled his eyes out.

He couldn't help but feel like blaming Soojung for not telling his the truth.

Soojung wasn't the one who saved him. Kyungsoo was.

He splashed water all over his face, trying to get over the sorrow, but his heart says no. In fact, it depleted.

A soft hand touched his shoulder, followed by the owner's voice. "Why are you here, Kai?"

Kai turned back. He saw his face. That familiar, innocent face, the face to the one he used to love.

Kyungsoo couldn't even say anything before he realised the taller smashed his lips against his.

How he missed them so much.

How they missed them so much.

I really like the style of narration used. I know it's somewhat first person POV, but I'm a little slow as of late so lemme just ask a quick question...

Basically, it's not really Kyung Soo's POV but it's the OC's POV reading the story which is in Kyung Soo's POV? I don't know if my question seemed confusing or it was so literal that there's no point in asking... I might be making a fool of myself here.

Anyway! This is a really nice modern take of the fairy-tale, The Little Mermaid. I did my own take on the song once and to say it was modern... well, I think it's safe to say it was pitiful. I made it into a drabbleseries because I had initially thought of the story in a music video-ish setting. So, the only way to express the scenes were to either be really descriptive or really simple. I went with completely basic.

A job well done! I like the setting for this story. The best version by far. I wish there was more I could say. Again, good job!! b^^d

Chapter 2: I liked the setup of someone buying a book to read the story. ^^

I liked the plot...it was good and to the point. Kyungsoo's perspective was represented correctly and fit the character you built for him in this oneshot.

The ending, coming from Kai's perspective was good also but I got confused as to the timing. Was it immediately after he read the letter that he ran to the airport or was it after reading the published book that he tried to track down Kyungsoo?

But good job...^^
