Prologue

As soon as she arrived at the coffee shop, she quickly looked at their usual place, near the window. She heaved a sigh of relief seeing that the table was empty, meaning he's not there yet. 

She ordered two americanos and thanked the barista before walking to the table. She quickly glanced at her wristwatch and saw that ten minutes have passed since their supposed to be meeting time. She didn't mind it though, those 5 years of being with him taught her how to be patient and understanding with situations like this. 

Looking at the window and watching different people walk and pass the shop lets her mind wander through things. Things that happened these past few days. Deadlines. Late night meetings. Him.

The past weeks have been hard for the both of them. Their relationship began to be a rollercoaster ride: one minute they're so happy in each other's presence, then another minute, they find themselves in a heated argument. 

At first, she felt it's normal since it's really usual for couples to take a break from being so sweet to each other and once in a while, fight over things. But their fights became so frequent it became a routine and to be honest, it's bothering her. Good thing he agreed to meet this afternoon at this cozy, little coffee shop to at least talk about what's happening to them.

The sound of the wind chimes distracted her thoughts and she immediately looked at the door, just to see him walking towards her with his camera hanging on his neck. She knew it, he just took a break form work. 

"I'm sorry I'm late, got stuck on a photoshoot" he reasoned, his face shows different sides of an emotion she could hardly point out. 

"It's okay, here's your drink" she told him, handing him his coffee. He smiled a little before sipping the hot liquid.

"So...how was work?" he asked and she just shrugged. So many things happened and she practically released every rant she have to him yesterday, on their late night call.

She noticed his displeased reaction. She sighed inwardly, will they fight again? Over this small thing? She was about to say something when he beat her to it. 

"I think we should stop this" he told her, looking at the now half full cup of coffee. She looked at him and was about to agree, thinking he was talking about all the fights and drama but she quickly frowned when she realized it's not. 

"This. This thing we have. It's getting predictable. We will fight, we will make up. Then fight again. I tried to patch things up, believe me. But everything's seems to be...ugh I don't know. But I know you're thinking the same thing" he continued, looking straight at her. She was shocked, but deep inside, she knows he's right. 

"Okay" that's the only word that came out of and it was his turn to be shocked. That's it? She won't even try to talk to him about it? Just agree and say okay? It ticked him off but realized it's not worth the fight anymore.

"Thank you for the memories though, I had fun. Being with you was crazy...but yeah it's really worth the 5 years. Sorry for everything I did to make you decide to end this. Good luck with your life, thank you" she finally had the courage to continue.

"Yeah. Thank you too, I'll cherish those memories we had. Sorry it has to end this way. We both know we tried but...." he paused

"...it didn't work out. I know" She was the one who continued and that was it. Silence took over them and the ringing of his phone broke this awkwardness.

He quickly nodded and stood up, causing her to stand up as well. They looked like business partners trying to end a deal.

They ended everything with a handshake.
