Second Meeting

Gentlemen

“So why did you do it?” Kim Gura-ssi asks as his eyes bore into my being as if he was God and I was a sinner on Judgement day.

“It felt right,” I shrug, ignoring his stare along with everyone else’s in the audience. I know what everyone is thinking and they’re wrong. They’re all thinking that what I did jeopardised everything but they don’t know her – at least not like the way I do.

This morning as we practiced, someone had barged in and informed us that we were going to debut. Of course, we were all excited. We’ve decided that we’d celebrate later in the week, that it was only right if we spent time with our families first to let them know the good news. I couldn’t go back home because not only was it far but I didn’t have the money. It killed me not being able to see them… especially umma but she’s the reason I’ve worked so hard to debut.

Eagerly, I called my family back home. My heart was beating fast and tears strolled down my cheeks as the words, “Umma, I finally made it,” came out of my mouth. There was silence on the other line and somehow I could tell umma was happy for me.

“I’m very proud of you son,” the shaky voice of my father spoke. I missed him. I missed them all and the next words he uttered hit home. “And I’m sure she is too.” I took a deep breath and said my goodbyes after I had promised appa I would come home once I had earned enough money.

I was sat in my room alone as everyone had already gone their own ways. The silence was suffocating me so I went outside and let my feet take me to wherever. I was lost in my own thoughts and it felt like the world had disappeared. I walked through the dim lighted sidewalks and before I know it, I found myself overlooking the Han River. Surprisingly, there weren’t that much people around but then I suppose it was quite late already so that could explain the lack of people.

I walked along the river, letting my thoughts take over once again until I heard someone sniffle. I thought it was probably just someone who had caught a cold or something but the short sniffles turned into a loud sob. My eyes widened in surprise and slight concern.

Remember what I said about being a trainee and the perks of it? How trainees had freedom because no one recognizes them?

I approached the sobbing stranger. “Are you okay?” I asked. At first, I contemplated because well I didn’t want to pry but then my conscience demanded me to make sure she was okay. “Wait, that was stupid because you’re crying… Sorry. Ermm,”

Okay, so I was nervous. I never had the chance to comfort anyone. I didn’t know what to do.

She let out a weak laugh and my heart cried. My sister used to do the same thing before she completely stopped laughing at all.

“I’m fine,” she finally said.

“Noona?”

My voice shook and the girl looked up. She gasped.

“A-ah… errm,” she fiddled uncomfortably on the bench as her right hand went up to her eyes, wiping the tears off violently but before she ends up hurting her eyes, I took her hands in mine. She looked at me confused and I merely ignored it as I sat down next to her. Silently, I put my right arm around her and guided her head to lean on my shoulder.

“Just let it out noona, I’m not gonna ask you what happened. I’m just here to lend my shoulders,” I smiled down on her but when I saw the tear rolling down her cheek, I felt like someone had beaten me into a pulp.

Back then, I always cried alone and it felt lonely and all I wanted was someone to lean on but I didn’t want to be a nuisance to anyone so I learnt to it all up… but it was hard… very hard. So I vowed that if someone needed a shoulder to lean on, I would be there because I don’t want anyone to go through what I went through.

Noona had fallen asleep minutes ago and I looked down to see her face. Even under the moonlight, you could tell her eyes were swollen and her nose was red but even then, she looked beautiful.

I don’t know when I fell asleep exactly, but I was awoken when the first ray of light kissed my face good morning. I looked down to see noona still peacefully sleeping and I couldn’t help but smile lightly. This noona, who slept on my shoulder last night, was the most amazing Dara Park.

Minutes later, I felt her move. I watched as her eyes fluttered open. “Good morning noona,” I whispered. She looked up and offered me an apologetic smile before getting off me.

“Oh god, I’m so sorry.” I could see the panic in her eyes and I couldn’t help but laugh at her cuteness.

“Noona, it’s okay.” I gave her a smile in which she replied with a loud sigh.

“I bet you’re really curious why I was crying,” she said.

“Yes, but it’s none of my business so I don’t really care if you tell me or not,” I shrugged.

“It’s Minho,” I watched as she chewed on her bottom lip.

“Lee Minho?” I asked, not sure as to which Minho she was referring to. There were rumours around about 6 months ago that the two were dating.

“Ani,Choi.”

“SHINee!?”

She nodded.

I blinked.

Shocked was an understatement. I was baffled – completely mind blown.

“I-I didn’t know you two were dating…”

She let out a chuckle.

“Two years,” she said softly.

How can I have not known?

“Don’t worry Chanyeol, no one knew about us apart from Dongwook.”

Now my curiosity was seriously in frenzy.

“Wh-what happened?” I hesitantly asked.

“He cheated,” she shrugged simply.

Chapter 6: Did Chanyeol really left Dara without paying the bill? OMG! He pulled this prank very well. Hahaha. I bet it will take Dara a life time to forget this embarrassing moment and the guy who caused it. Naughty boy, he's not even sorry.
