Chapter 16
Imagine You, Imagine Me.Part 2
I didn’t visit Singapore the next six month. However, Kris’ study in Singapore was finally coming to an end. Kris will be back home. Knowing that Kris will be back home made me smile. I think being at our familiar place, this home, will be better for us both. I hold onto my promise. I e-mailed Kris once every few days; I called him as well. I felt that our relationship had began to be better.
I once asked Kris about Jane, I asked him once and that was it. He said he had settled it and I chose to believe him. I was happier at home; I became much more cheerful than before. Every time I exchanged e-mails with Kris or every time I talked to Kris on the phone, I was looking forward to him coming home. I began counting down the days and today is the day.
I manage to plan a welcoming party as well for Kris with my and his friends. We were all very excited, for them it’s been a year since they last saw, talk and played basketball with Kris. To my friends, it’s been a year since they see me with a genuine smile standing next to Kris. I arrived at the airport with my friends. I checked the arrival making sure it wasn’t delayed or anything.
Seconds turned to minutes, but to me, seconds felt like a minute, a minute felt like an hour. I stood in front of the arrival holding onto a sign saying Welcome home, Kris. It kind of felt like a déjà vu.
“Do you see him?” I asked Alex, who was tiptoeing. I don’t really know why he was considering he’s already 184cm.
“I see him!” He exclaimed and point towards an area. I tried tiptoeing but I couldn’t see anything. “He’s coming! He’s coming out!” Alex said and waved enthusiastically.
My friend, Jess was also waving next to me and that was when I saw him. He smiled and waved back towards us. Alex immediately jumped onto Kris and gave him a big hug.
“I miss you buddy!” Alex said and Kris was nodding as well. Kris came up to me and gave me a hug. I hugged him back and like always, he put his cheek on my head.
“Welcome home” I whispered and hug him tighter.
“Thanks” Kris let go of our hug slowly and ruffled my hair. He then gave Jess a short side hug. Alex helped Kris with his trolley when I hear a familiar voice.
“Kris!” It almost shouted, “You need to help me with my stuff as well” I turned around and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Kris lied. He lied, again.
