Bearable
Idiots in loveSunggyu limps slightly through the dirty alleyway that reeks of an ungodly scent which wafts to him, scrunching his face in displeasure he pushes the heavy door of his small apartment open and grunts at the pain shooting through him from putting weight on his injured leg. Letting the door bang shut he kicks his shoes off not caring where they go and throws the light switch on, discarding his leather jacket on the floor he limps to the battered couch and collapses in a heap groaning from the relief his leg gets.
After laying there for a few moments peacefully he forces himself to move as the electric pain in his leg begins to intensify again, rolling up his trousers his face twists with displeasure as he views the injury, his calf is red and bruised, the skin increasingly sensitive. Limping his way to the kitchen he roots around for an ice-pack which he presses against his skin cursing all the while.
With his spare hand he turns the kettle on and grabs a cup of instant noodles tearing the packaging open with his mouth. With his meagre meal he carefully manoeuvres his way back into the lounge which proves difficult with an injured leg and a cup of steaming hot noodles but he manages nonetheless because this is something he’s done time and time again and as they say, practice makes perfect.
Although he wouldn’t even be in this position if punks knew their place in life, a bunch of brats who didn’t look older than 18 decided it’d be great fun to try and trash his garage and maybe even steal some trinkets as ‘souvenirs’ but they were in for a shock when Sunggyu planted his boot in what he supposed was the leader’s face. Kids or not nobody messed with Sunggyu, especially not his garage that, ok could have been doing a lot better business wise but it was his no matter what.
Sunggyu had only intended to teach them a quick lesson and go back to work but he hadn’t counted on one of the boys calling for back up, soon enough an entire gang had surrounded the place and the guys behind Sunggyu that often hung out at his garage had also gotten involved.
Sunggyu himself wasn’t exactly a member of a gang having no real time to do that kind of thing but he was what they considered an honorary member since he supplied them with a place to meet up and all the scrap metal they desired to use as crude weaponry. Thus a full blown gang fight had ended up ensuing resulting in Sunggyu being struck in the leg with a blunt object, he didn’t know what it was or who hit him but as long as it didn’t bleed there was no problem.
This was how his days often went, today was just more hectic than he’d expected. He’d open the shop, maybe get a customer or two but mostly he’d sit and restore old bikes as the gang members drank themselves silly and scared away all potential customers with either their presence or their constant fights. It was mundane but that was just life.
His house was crappy and not exactly a place one would call ‘home’ but it did its job and kept him sheltered and warm, he couldn’t cook for but take-out and instant noodles were good enough besides any repercussion they could have possibly had on his health weren’t worries considering he worked out so much via the fights. Sunggyu’s life was by no means extraordinary or great but it was a life and he was fine with living it like this.
He saw no real point in going out and looking for something more, putting himself on the line for something that he might or might not get was stupid to him and he knew better than most how hard life was and how unfair the world was so he wasn’t going to try to take it on. Besides people like Sunggyu weren’t welcome out in the better world, so what was the point in trying?
The silence could have been suffocating if he weren’t already used to it, loneliness was all he had ever known so he was fine sitting there in his si
