It is the spring of 2013, Taeyeon is twenty-four and Leeteuk is twenty-five.

He smiled as he read the text. She was listening to the broadcast for that night. It was absolutely perfect. Looking up, he signalled to Eunhyuk next to him with a huge smile. 

“And to wrap up our final segment for the night--”

“Yes, to this certain someone who is listening, Leeteuk here has a special message for you.”

“Kim Taeyeon, if you’re listening to this late-night broadcast, I would like to tell you something. Throughout all these years, you’ve overcome so many tough challenges, big and small fights, and I know, personally, the feelings you would feel right down in your heart, the moments where it seems impossible to go on… Well those times are over now, and there are new challenges to face, again, big and small, but there’s one person who will always be there to face it with you, and that’s me.”

There was a moment of silence, and then a short sniff. Leeteuk was tearing up slightly as he spoke.

“Hyung, you can do it!” Eunhyuk patted his back encouragingly, smiling.

“So Taeyeon… Will you marry me?"

“Taeyeon-ah, all you need to do is call in to answer! Listeners, you are the first to experience such a wonderful proposal over the radio! Do not call in unless you’re Kim Taeyeon, please!”

The two of them waited with a bated breath. At the broadcasting station Eunhyuk scooted his seat closer to Leeteuk and nudged the latter, telling him not to worry.

Indeed, a moment later there was a caller. Eunhyuk, excited and thrilled as ever, hit the ‘accept’ button, and smiled widely.

“I will.”

Those two words echoed throughout the ears of the listeners and the deejays, but most especially, Leeteuk. Even though he didn’t know it, Eunhyuk had told all of their friends to gather in one place to listen to the nights’ broadcast, promising that there would be something special. They cheered as they heard Taeyeon’s voice come over the radio, and immediately called in right after.

Leeteuk--still dazed with happiness--absentmindedly pressed the button, and a chorus of voices resonated throughout the station.

“Congratulations, Leeteuk and Taeyeon!”

He and Eunhyuk both could recognize each individual voice, Hyoyeon, Jessica, Yuri, and Yoona… And even the guys, Siwon, Donghae… Leeteuk was touched, and without realising it, a teardrop escaped his eyes.

Eunhyuk smiled and spoke, “I told you there would be something special! Now, listeners, we would like to play a song that this dorky Leeteuk here who is in his own world of happiness, Taeyeon, please don’t worry about him, he’s still alive, would like to dedicate to his soon-to-be wife. Here is ‘Say Yes’!”

Meanwhile, Taeyeon, who was driving in her car, smiled and sang along softly. Halfway through the song, she felt a buzz in her pocket and a text was awaiting her.

Taeyeon-ah, you’re the most amazing woman to have ever walked the planet. I love you so much, so much more than you know. Quick, make a turn and come to my apartment. I’ll meet you there in ten minutes.

She looked up, and made a quick left turn, heading in the direction of his apartment, wondering what exactly he had in store for her.

A while later, she’d arrived at his apartment and took the keys from under the mat. (A set of spare ones was always left there if he wanted her to go into his apartment.) She opened the door and as she walked down the living room walkway, the lights along the floor lit up (his apartment had been made this way, sort of like Broadway-style) with different colours.

When she reached the end, Leeteuk was standing in a heart made by lighted candles, and was holding a ring. The whole thing wasn’t very spectacular. It was a simple proposal, but it’d made her smile no less.

He bent on one knee, and offered his hand. She stepped into the heart, careful not to step on any of the candles.

“Kim Taeyeon, will you… marry me?”

She nodded, smiling brightly, and he put the ring on her finger. He stood up and kissed her gently, wrapping his arms around her protectively. She was his and he was hers, a promise, for all eternity. 

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Wow. Just wow. I updated. O; I decided NOT to write the masquerade because I had zero inspiration. And I decided to fast forward to proposal year.
