A story inspired by “Aladdin”

On the streets of Seoul, South Korea, there is a clear distinction between people of high status and those who always received the “shorter end of the stick.” Where society’s rules were to never associate with anyone of lesser wealth than yourself unless they work for you; The corporate suits and ties and designer handbags were what ruled these streets by day, but by night, these streets were ran by the gangs and hoodlums, the es and the party people. These two worlds were never meant to touch until one day; fate brought together a boy from the slums and an uptown girl. However, what brought them together was a complete lie. What would you do if you fell madly in love with someone and then found out that everything about that person was a complete lie? That all they wanted was everything you had?

The daughter of the CEO of Woolim Entertainment. She has tan skin and dark brown/black hair. To many, she is known as Princess Jasmine because of their similarities: the skin tone, the hair, the eyes, and the personality are all the same. There is a well known joke her father would like to say, “It’s as if Disney was inspired by my daughter when they created Princess Jasmine,” or “It’s like she just jumped right out of the movie right?” She is 19 years old and has a kind personality but that could quickly change if you get on her bad side. She is spunky and her quirks but overall, she just wants her fairytale ending.

Jung Daehyun-

(The Aladdin) Daehyun is a boy from the slums who lives to eat and eats to live. He was homeless for the majority of his life and has no family whatsoever, he finally found a home with a group of boys who called themselves B.A.P. Although they are flat broke and live in a small apartment that is literally a whole in the wall, he couldn’t be happier to have those boys by his side.  Daehyun is 19 years old and is known as quite the charming lad, “He will throw a smile your way while robbing you blind!” Which is what he does best, food is expensive and since getting paid at the end of the week doesn’t cut it to feed an apartment full of boys, he has to steal. Daehyun is known to be adventurous but also quite mysterious, he doesn’t talk much but his eyes tell you everything.

Yoo Youngjae- What is Aladdin without his partner in crime Abu? Youngjae is 19 years old and is a total know it all. If Daehyun needs a plan to steal food, Youngjae is always the one to provide it. He is usually the insightful one when Daehyun needs someone to talk to and asks for advice.

There will be the rest of B.A.P and also Infinite.

Their roles will be revealed throughout the story.

Foreword

It was early morning when Daehyun woke up, he was always the first to rise while the rest just slept in the room they shared. Sighing in content at the sight of his “brothers” as they all huddled close to one another as they slept: Yongguk was spread out with his right arm smothering Himchan’s face, Youngjae was spooning Himchan, and Zelo and Jongup were cuddled close together to stay warm. The sight was quite touching to Daehyun, however a small frown was set upon his face when he heard the growling of the youngsters’ stomach.

“It’s time to grab a five finger discount again.” Daehyun grumbled while he made his way off his mat on the floor, trying not to step or trip on any of his brothers.

After he got ready for his shopping spree, he went back into the bedroom and tried to shake Youngjae awake. Daehyun always depended on youngjae when he had to go food or clothing shopping, Youngjae was always the one with the plan. Since they were so broke and they were practically living off of nickels and dimes, it was important for them to find other means of getting what they needed and stealing was always the first option.

“Youngjae pabo, wake up we need to go shopping again.” Daehyun whispered as he shook the slumber struck boy.

“Mhumnh what do you want?” Youngjae asked in a hoarse voice while rubbing his eyes.

Daehyun smiled at his friend’s current state, Youngjae was never an early bird but more of a night owl; that boy stays up all night playing on his stolen gadgets.

“We need to go get food, there seems to be a monster growing in Zelo’s stomach and if we don’t feed it soon we might become lunch.”

Youngjae yawned as he nodded his head in understanding, “Just let me get dressed and then we can head out.”

                                                                                                                             ***

It was the bright sunshine-filled day that came peaking through the curtains that woke up Emi from her peaceful sleep. Stretching her arms above her head, Emi looked out of her window and smiled as the sunlight danced on her skin. The day was beautiful and there wasn’t even a single cloud in sight, on days like today, Emi would always sneak out of her house and explore the city that her father always forbade. Being the only heir to a multi-billion dollar business made Emi a target in more ways than one, causing her to always have a bodyguard(s) with her at all time. She has never fully experienced Seoul the way that other natives had, she was always in her room or at Woolim working with her father.

She glanced at her cell phone and saw that it was only 5 in the morning, which usually meant that everyone in the mansion was still sound asleep. Smiling to herself, Emi skipped to her giant walk in closet made of white marble and chose her disguise for the day. She never liked to dress like the rich girl she was when she would head out on her adventures because she knew that once she was discovered missing, her bodyguards were bound to go searching for her.

She dressed herself in a pair of blue jeans and teal tank top with a brown hoodie over it just in case she was going to be searched for. After she was done dressing, she walked over to her small pooch who was sleeping soundly in his bed,

“ I am going out now Raja, if you see any of those big scary men do your best to scare them away, alright?” Emi whispered as she let her fingers run lightly down her dog’s fur getting a shudder in response.

She grabbed her phone and opened the sliding door to her balcony making sure not to make any noise to alert anyone. She tiptoed to the railing and leaned out looking to see if anyone was around. When the coast was clear, she skillfully swung her legs over the rail and was now preparing herself for the jump from the balcony to the tree. It wasn’t too much of a risky jump, just one that required a lot of bravery on her part since she was afraid of heights. I mean let’s face it, if you lived on the second floor of a mansion which from there to the ground was easily 20 feet wouldn’t you be scared?

“Don’t look down.” She chanted to herself as she swayed back and forth to get a rhythm to jump.

“1,2,3!” She jumped and clung onto the branch of the old oak tree praying to every single god known to mankind not to let the branch break. She shimmied her way towards the truck of the tree steadily, she found her footing on the branch directly be her and felt much more at ease. She climbed down the tree easily with little hesitation until she reached the ground and silently praised the heavens for not letting her die.

She quickly made her way towards the back of the house which had a cinderblock wall covered in ivy, this wall was the only thing that separated her from the rest of the world, the world she wanted so badly to be a part of. She grabbed hold of the ivy searching for the hidden holes she made on the wall when she first started exploring. As she found them she began to climb over the wall and repeat the same process as before.

Once she reached the ground on the other side, she sighed happily seeing that she was finally free. She roamed the streets cheerfully as she exited her neighborhood and made her way towards the city which was a few blocks away from her home.

                                                                                                                            ***

In the city, Daehyun and Youngjae were looking for food stands that would fulfill everyone’s appetite. The streets were filled with business men and women crossing the streets to work and young adults who just had nothing better to do than roam around the streets. The traffic was its usual steady of terrible and car horns were what made the melody of hustle and bustle of the city.

“Have you spotted anything yet?” Daehyun asked Youngjae as he glanced around to not look suspicious.

“There is a dokkbokki stand a few feet away and the Ahjumma will be too busy to notice me sneak through the back to take some of the food.” Youngjae replied as he analyzed the elder’s every move within the food stand. “She keeps the fresh stuff in the oven behind her, I am able to distract her for long enough, you can get everything and make a run for it.”

Daehyun nodded as he gazed at the food stand, “Then let’s get to work.”

They made their way over to the food stand, Daehyun stayed behind so he could sneak to the back of the stand while Youngjae distracted the Ahjumma. When it was Youngjae’s turn to order, he quickly dived under the table and got into the work station.

“So ahjumma, how are you doing today?” Daehyun heard Youngjae ask.

The elder replied and was clearly engaged with answering the boy, while doing so; Daehyun found some plastic containers on the floor and quickly began to stuff them with dokkbokki until there was no more space. After filling three containers, Daehyun got back on his hands and knees and made his exit, signaling Youngjae from beside the stand that the mission was complete.

“Well Ahjumma, it was nice talking to you but I really have to go now. I hope you have a wonderful day and make a lot of money!” Youngjae said as he waved cutely to the ahjumma.

The Ahjumma was stunned, “Arent you going to order anything?”

Youngjae just shook his head and smiled, “I just wanted to talk to this pretty ahjumma before me.”

Without another word, Youngjae turned around and headed towards the ally where Daehyun was waiting for him.

“Did you get it all?” Youngjae asked excitedly as he saw the stuffed containers filled to the brim.

“Yep, now lets-“ Before Daehyun could finish his sentence, the sound of whimpering could be heard from around the corner. Being the good hearted guy that he was, Daehyun went to check on what was going on. When he turned the corner, his heart softened, before him were two young children covered in dirt. From the looks of it, they were homeless and hungry which was a scene that was all too familiar to Daehyun.

Youngjae, who knew what was running through Daehyun’s mind pulled on the boy’s arm, “Oh no you don’t, I worked my off swooning that Ahjumma and I do not appreciate my hard work going to waste!”

Daehyun turned towards Youngjae with a piercing glare that made Youngjae jump back a bit, “These are children, Jae. Look at them; I was the same way once too. You have no idea how difficult life is to be so young and have no place to call home. It’s the least that I could do for them.”

Daehyun made his way towards the two children,

“Hi there, my name is Daehyun. What are yours?” He asked politely as he crouched down to their level.

The boy who was sitting against the wall in fetal position looked up, his eyes filled to the brim with fresh tears while the girl who was sitting next to him hid her face behind the boys arm.

“M-my name C-Chisoo and this is m-my sister H-Hyemi.” The boy replied as he choked back tears.

Daehyun nodded and smiled, “Why are you crying?”

This time it was Hyemi who replied, “We are hungry, we haven’t eaten anything in three days.”

Daehyun’s heart broke into pieces hearing that statement and knew that what he was about to do was the least he could give to the children. “Well, I just solved that problem for you.” Daehyun then presented all three of the containers filled with dokkbokki.

The looks on those kids’ faces were so bright and full of life at that moment, it was as if all their problems went away for the time being. The happiness that was sparkling in their eyes made his heart swell, he may have  been a thief, a street rat, and a riff raff but one thing was for sure; Jung Daehyun had a heart of gold.
