It was June 2002. Your beloved dad passed away. You knew that your dad died, you would lose your one and only best friend. Yeah, you and your dad were very close, even closer than with your mom. But when your dad passed away, you didn’t even cry. You were still laughing, eating happily, playing, even running when your mom and siblings were sad and crying.

“Hanbi-ya, don’t run around appa…..” Your mom said weakly.

You stopped and stepped closer then you tip-toed to see your dad who was inside the coffin.

You blinked. “Appa…..”

Your dad laid down in the coffin wearing black suit with bolt head because of brain operation and his eyes closed. His lips made curve shape as he was smiling.

“Is…smiling?” You smiled back to your dad.

“Deep condolences, Mrs. Park.” You heard a sound behind you.

When you turned to that sound, you saw a man you knew. He was smiling with sympathy. His hair was dyed brown and he wore black suit. *Ahhh….. eomma’s boss!* But you didn’t know the woman and the boy beside him. The woman smiled but seemed flat, made her looked cold. She was holding the boy’s hands. You turned to the boy, but your mom called you.

“Hanbi-ya, greet Mr. Lee and Mrs. Lee…” Your mom reminded you.

You bowed and said, “Annyeonghaseyo.” Then you smiled and left politely. But you didn’t know someone was watching you.

YOUR P.O.V

Mrs. Lee is a bit scary….. I better leave. Then I smiled and left politely. I took some candies and walked outside. OH! There’s a beautiful garden! And a fountain too! I ran to the fountain and started playing around with the water. But I can’t get wet, or eomma will be angry huh… So, I stopped, and sat on a bench behind the fountain. I picked one of the candies I brought, the strawberry one, and I started eating it. While biting it, I looked up. WOW! There are so many stars! It’s beautiful…..

“Aren’t you sad?” I heard, then turned to that sound.

The boy who was with Mr. and Mrs. Lee! He’s standing beside me and his expression is flat-_- but he has small eyes that make curve shape, so the expression isn’t too flat. But what is he doing here?

“Your appa died. And you’re still playing around with the water, eating candy, and look at the sky peacefully. Aren’t you sad?” He said.

I blinked. Am I sad or not? I’m feeling as a bad daughter. Then I felt my cheeks heated, my sight became blur, and tears started coming out.

“Hiks… I…I…don’t know… Hueee appaa…..” I cried.

“Yah,yah… W-why are you c-crying?” He panicked.

“Hueee….. I’m a bad daughter haaa appa mianhaeyooo”

“Yahhh, stop crying, pleaseee”

“Haaa, I can’t…..”

I kept crying, until I felt something wrapped around me.

HIS P.O.V

Eoddeohke? She couldn’t stop crying! What should I do??? Ah! Eomma usually hugged me everytime I was crying. So, I stepped closer to her and lowered my body. I hugged her. I patted her back softly.

“I’m sorry…” I said sadly.

Suddenly, her cried stopped. Yeahhh finally! Then I pulled away. I looked at her, and wiped her tears from her face with my fingers.

“Don’t cry anymore, okay?” I smiled.

She blinked, but then nodded to my words and smiled.

I sat next to her and gave my right hand. “What’s your name? I’m Lee Byunghun.”

“I’m Park Hanbi!” She shook my hand and grinned. “So, Byunghun-ah, why did you come here?”

“I just saw you took some candies and walked outside. But you didn’t come back for almost half an hour. I thought you were kidnapped. So, I walked outside and looking for you hehehe”

“Oooh….. Ah! This is for you.” She handed me one of her candies. “This is my favourite, orange flavor. I save it for the last bite. But you can have it now.”

I took the candy. “Thank you. But why are you giving it to me?”

“Because you’re my new friend!” She grinned.

“Hahaha gomawo! Hanbi-ya, how old are you?”

“I’m 5, but I’ll be 6 on August!”

“I’m 8. So, you have to call me oppa, okay?”

“Ahhh, sirheo! Your name doesn’t fit oppa!” She sticked out her tongue and started running away with laugh.

“Yah! Come back!” I started chasing her with laugh too.

While you and Byunghun were running happily, his mom called, “Byunghun-ah, let’s go home…”

You two stopped and ran to both of your parents who were waiting.

“Aigoo, you keep running all day. Don’t you feel exhausted?” Your mom said. You just shook your head with a grin.

“Look like you two are being friends?” Mr. Lee asked happily. Byunghun smiled and nodded.

“Hanbi-ya, you have to come to our house next time, okay? So, Byunghun will have a friend at home...” Mrs. Lee said to me with a smile.

“N-ne…….” I replied. *She’s not scary at all?*

“Then, we are going, Mrs. Park!” Mr. Lee said. He and his wife then walked away.

“Ne, kamsahamnida, Mr. and Mrs. Lee.” Then your mom went back to your family.

“Annyeong, Hanbi-ya! We have to meet again next time!” Byunghun said while waving his hand.

“Annyeong, Byunghun-ah!” You grinned and waved back.

“Yah, it’s Byunghun oppa! BYUNGHUN OPPA!” He shouted while walking away.

You shook your head and sticked out your tongue. Merong~!:P
