Kris silently sits next to his brother, the two admiring the view of Kellis out of the bay window together. Other students are quietly chatting over their breakfast in the cafeteria, the attendance spotty as hopefuls favor going to the academy's auditorium to see if they're qualified for the last four spots of Guardian status.

"The sun looks like it's chasing Kellis, doesn't it?" Luhan asks and Kris hums in agreement. The sun's rays are peeking over the Earth's left side while Kellis orbits to the right. The two satellites have a clear view of the other and Kris is grateful he and his sibling are able to bask in this moment together. They've been close since Kris was born, Luhan immediately fawning over him and always pestering their mom to let him hold little Yifan, Luhan getting rejected until they were slightly older. When Yifan could walk steadily, Luhan took him everywhere and always held his hand. When the time came for Luhan to attend school on Earth, Yifan cried and threw tantrums until his brother came home to play with him.

Time rapidly passed and by Yifan's first year in middle school, he was already taller than his older brother and appeared more mature in the face. When Luhan graduated middle school, he was chosen to attend the academy on Mokari and made Yifan promise to try and get accepted as well. Yifan studied vigorously and was also accepted at graduation for entrance to Mokari. By that time, Luhan had grown attached to a silent ravenette who made Yifan feel uneasy. The boy almost never talked and, now years later, he still wasn't sure how his voice sounded. Luhan told him that Zitao, the ravenette, was just shy and that he openly talked when it was just him and Luhan alone.

Yifan was the first to be called into the auditorium and receive the first Guardian title. A chip was implanted under the skin of the back of his left hand that attached him to a dragon that roamed the vastness of space and was said to be as dark as a black hole. With a flick of the wrist and a valid reason, Yifan could summon the dragon. He was then given the codename Kris.

Luhan was summoned second, taking the second Guardian slot, and was appointed to be a disruptor due to his disarming appearance. The power of telepathy was bestowed upon him.

No other students were summoned individually afterwards and students would proceed to check their status routinely. Luhan had advised Zitao to go before they left their shared dorm together and Zitao agreed. When Zitao suddenly sat down next to Luhan at the special Guardian table, Luhan couldn't help but throw himself over the raven in glee.

"My name has been shortened to Tao." He spoke softly as Luhan clung to him. Kris tried to imprint his voice in his mind because it was only a matter of time before he'd stop talking for another decade or two. Luhan beamed once he let go of his roommate and nudged his brother's shoulder.

"Aren't you happy? The three of us get to stay together and embark on this wonderful journey into the vastness of space! How many planets do you think we'll visit? Can we land on Jupiter, Kris?" Luhan's eyes glowed and Kris couldn't help but frown.

"Unfortunately, no, we can't land on Jupiter." Kris shot down Luhan's mood and the elder wilted. Tao frowned and patted him on the shoulder.

"We can see the moons of Jupiter up close, though. Some are pretty and you'll be able to take pictures of them." Tao reassured and Kris gave him a small smile as Luhan perked up again. The three of them were shocked, literally, when a strong electrical current surged throughout the tabletop. As their heads slammed down on the table, they heard chuckling approach their table.

"My, my, how revolting it is to have these punks for teammates."

"Yes, quite shocking."

"But, I'm ecstatic that I can mess with them whenever and up close. How do you feel, Yixing?"

"I'm stunned. Why, there isn't enough megawatts in the entire vastness of space to ignite a flicker in my current state of surprise, Jongdae."

"So sad. Hey, punks," Jongdae kicked at Kris' thigh and smirked when he only groaned in response. He looked back to Yixing. "Could you help our new friends out, please?"

Yixing smiled and lightly clapped his hands three times, the paralyzing pressure on the three instantly lifting. Kris stood up immediately and glared hard down at Jongdae.

"Hello there, tall one, how's the weather up there?" The shorter grinned before knocking on Kris' forehead and pushing down on his shoulders with unseen strength. Kris was baffled as he sat back down in his spot, Jongdae and Yixing chuckling. Luhan frowned and Tao stayed silent.

"It to have these losers for partners. I vote we ditch them on the first hostile planet." Yixing grinned as he sat atop the table next to Tao. Jongdae hummed and plopped down next to Kris, the latter grumbling under his breath as Luhan clutched his hand underneath the table.

"I agree. They probably have the useless set of powers, anyway. I mean," Jongdae snorted at Kris. "This bonehead has flight. What use is that crap when we get a spaceship?" Yixing chuckled behind a fist before nudging Tao rudely.

"I heard little batman here has time control. Whoop-dee-doo, how useful is something that will hinder your teammates?" Yixing spat and Luhan used his other hand to hold Tao's, the tension rising in the air. Jongdae got up from his spot to walk next to Luhan and bent down close to him. He gripped Luhan's jaw and forced him to face him, Kris and Tao growling lowly.

"Pretty boy here has telepathy. Let's talk nasty while no one listens, cutie." Jongdae winked before kissing Luhan's cheek, standing up and high fiving Yixing afterwards. Luhan looked down, his cheeks tinting red in embarrassment. He tightened his grip on both hands under the table to prevent both his brother and Tao from lashing out.

"From here on out, you'll address me as Chen. Hell, they should have called me Zeus with the awesome power I have." Jongdae cackled as he conjured up an angry ball of blue lightning, the sparks giving his face a terrifying glow.

"And I'm Lay, the healer. Try not to get your sorry asses hurt too often, I'm not a nurse." Yixing grinned.

"Where's the last punk of the group?" Jongdae frowned as he looked around the cafeteria for their last teammate, the boy having yet to show up. When the air in the cafeteria began to turn frigid, Jongdae and Yixing grinned at one another. Soon enough a short male with his hands shoved in his pockets walked up to the table. He snorted and only removed one hand from his pocket to greet Jongdae with a friendly handshake. Yixing draped an arm over his shoulder.

"Minseok, my man, glad to have you here." Jongdae smiled and Minseok clicked his tongue.

"Can't say the same since I was hoping we'd have better looking teammates. I mean, look, that kid looks like he's twelve or something," Minseok snorted and Jongdae and Yixing laughed at him. Luhan, Kris and Tao shivered as the air grew colder around them. "Look, the little punks can't handle a little cool air. How pathetic." Minseok spat and the three sat on the opposite end of the table, Minseok propping his leather boots onto the tabletop.

"I take it the giant oaf is our so called leader. The name is Minseok, , but I was assigned the name of Xiumin. Either way, don't call on me for stupid things, I'm not a babysitter." Minseok released the cold air around the opposite trio and chuckled when Luhan huddled closer to his brother.

"I heard the leader of Kellis had the idea of joined dorms. The officials agreed and said we should get the same system so we could have a chance to bond. Three rooms, I got dibs on the pretty boy." Jongdae his lips and Minseok hummed.

"I call Mr. Talkative." Yixing winked and Tao narrowed his eyes.

"I guess I got the model wannabe." Minseok crossed his arms and Kris glared at him.

This was going to be a very long process.
