I roamed aimlessly on the streets; I didn’t know where to go or who I could possibly visit in broad daylight. It was only eleven in the morning, not too early yet not too late. It was nearing mid-July, several weeks before her birthday. This year, I won’t be able to celebrate it with her again.

“Jung… Daehyun?” A hoarse voice hesitated in front of me. I stopped kicking the pavement rocks and looked up from the ground. It was one of my university friends, Kim Himchan. He was quite popular with the ladies back then.

“Kim Himchan… How have you been?” I walked closer to him, taking him into one of our manly hugs – a clasp of the hand, a force that draws our chest to bump against each other, a pat on the back, and back to square one.

I observed his outer appearance. He must still be popular with the ladies with his handsome features – minus the bloodshot redness in his eyes and the swollenness of his eyes. Not to mention he does have those dark circles under his eyes and the heavy eye bags.

“I’m doing pretty well these past few years. Became a model for clothing brands and earned quite an amount. How about you?” Ah, it must have been work that caused the puffiness on his cheeks as well.

“The usual. Eat, work, sleep, work, and it repeats daily.” I chuckled at how eventful my life has been. He nodded his head in acknowledgement.

A sudden curiosity invaded my thoughts. Himchan was quite close with her so he must still have been in contact with her now. Curiosity got the best of me. Even if we are no longer together I can still ask about her well-being, right?

“Do you remember Moon Minhee? How is she doing right now?”

Himchan didn’t speak for a moment. I thought something was wrong until he opened his mouth again, to speak. “I was just on my way to pay her a visit. If you aren’t busy at the moment, you can come along.” I nodded slowly, processing his question in my mind.

“I don’t have work on Sundays.” I assume that answered his question as he patted my back. The gesture seemed as if he was giving me precaution but I tossed that thought away.

“Let’s go.”

We walked and talked, updating ourselves with questions and answers of our lives ever since we graduated from university. It was like a girl’s hangout with the exception of us being two grown men.
