Can you taste it?
The sweetness running in their veins.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Seriously... why do machines make that sound? Why can't they just shut the up?

The White Suits ran her body through the large cylindrical machine. The laser blue lights scanned her from head to toe multiple times before spitting out the most preposterous results.

"Well? Does she check out?" The faction leader snipped the report from the White Suit. He studied it carefully and then turned it side ways. Just as he thought... he couldn't understand a single thing printed on the strip of film-like paper. The compliance of numbers and alien characters set in matrices sent him back to the olden days of linear algebra. Indeed, it was the worse time of his life. He thought it was safely behind him. But apparently, it came back to haunt him once in a full moon. The man bit his tongue in defeat and handed back the report to the professionals. "So what does it say?"

"The subject appears to have the outer make up of a human but the inside is a bit of a mess. It's missing some very vital organs such as the lungs. Though the heart is there or what we think is a heart. It's neither natural nor mechanical but it runs the body. There is something else about the cells... They have the potential to multiply like a cancer though extremely fast. But unlike the kind we're familiar with, it's being controlled by the heart... or that thing that acts like a heart."

"What does that mean?"

"The subject has the ability to regenerate any body part it so wishes. But I wonder... what does it do about the skeletal system... This is all a very interesting concept."

"Are you sure this girl can do all that?"

"We can run a few hundred tests to confirm or... well, the other option is a little unorthodox so I don't think it's right to suggest something like..."

"But I'm guessing it's the quicker method of getting results."

"Of course!"

"Just say it."

"Simply hack off a limb and see if it grows back."

Junki and Jaejoong wandered the dank streets of London, or whatever this city was called, searching for Xinling. They came to a cross section in the road and stood there for a while until Junki broke the silent night with an irritated 'Well?'

"Which way are we supposed to go now?" Junki turned to the left and then he turned to the right. "All the streets here look the same. Are you sure we're not walking around in circles? Jaejoong. Jaejoong...?" Junki looked back to see Jaejoong sleep-standing with his chin on his chest and everything. It was a wonder he hadn't drop the flashing gadget.

Oh, spoken too soon. The thing slipped out of his listless fingers and cracked on the cobblestone road.

So much for tracking the Hunters with their own device. "It probably doesn't work anyway." Junki convinced himself. He walked backwards until his heels reached the sleeping Jaejoong. "Hey... Hey!" He gave his younger brother a nasty slap on the cheek.

"Wha-What happened?" Jaejoong looked up at Junki through his droopy eyes.

"You fell asleep while standing here. You know, the least you could do is sleepwalk if you're going to sleep on me. Then we could actually keep making progress."

"Can' hear yoo... Tie-ard. Don' wanna doo anythang." The words dribbled out of his lazy mouth. Was he drooling too?

"Wow. Has it been that long? She has only been missing for- oh." Junki forgot he broke his pocket watch long ago. He really hated listening to the seconds ticking away. It was always moving towards Death on it's own. So bothersome. "Okay. I guess it's been a while and it seriously took a huge toll on you. Ugh, this ing . You're always a pain in the when she gets kidnapped or thrown in the ocean or- wait a minute..."

"Waa dee yoo sae?"

"I can use you to track her location. ing incredible." Junki was in awe at how dense they both were. "All this time we could have just used you to find her and we never did it before? We're seriously brain dead." Junki grabbed Jaejoong and tossed him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

"When we get closer to her, you'll be a little more lively. We can work with this."

"Waa?"

Junki ran down the street like a masked robber with his bag of loot. "Can you understand me now?"

"Waa?"

He ran some more. "Can you understand me now?"

"Waa?"

The White Suits gathered around her but they didn't really huddle like the Hunters did. The whole scene looked more like a cult ritual than a football game. All they needed was a mask of some sort to look even shadier.

"That was unbelievable."

"Did you see how the muscles latched on to the newly formed skeletal structure?"

"The skin growth was the best part... but it went by too quickly..."

"Can we see it again? Cut off the subject's leg this time."

"How about we just sever all four limbs? That way, we can watch at every angle with ease."

"Good idea. Have the laser ray lowered and ready."

As they watched Xinling's body regenerate its lost parts, they couldn't repress the "oohh's" and "aahh's." It was quickly followed by a gasp and a choke when her eyes popped open like a doll. She looked scary... like really scary with all the blood and . They shivered.

Her lips moved but no sound came out and the White Suits glanced at one another.

"D-Do you th-think it's broken? Did we cu-cut off too many pa-parts?"

"The subject is in a rather bloody mess... It's only natural."

"But there's nothing natural about this."

"My clothes... Where are my clothes?" Xinling formed the words articulately.

The White Suits looked back down at the girl and puffed in relief. "It's fine. Superb phonetics too."

"Look. The limbs are almost fully covered with skin."

"That's good."

"My clothes..."

"It wants its clothes... where did we put it?"

"I think there was a boy that took it away."

"Right, that little cross-dressing Hunter."

The White Suits were busy talking amongst themselves and didn't notice the subject moving her fingers and toes. Xinling had fully recovered from their abuse (in the name of science). Really... they should have never brought her back. Just imagine the things she would do to their squishy, tender bodies... and she ain't got no soul to tell her it's bad.

They were so... so... dead.

Vampire Twins is a sister story to Wayward Lover and the two tales will eventually intersect. The twins are inspired by Subaru&Kamui.
