No Absolute Way

Description

They weren't suppose to meet. It was impossible.

They weren't suppose to interact with each other. There was absolutely no way.

They should have never crossed each other's paths.

These two should have never met eyes in the first place. Not just because they weren't suppose to, but because

it was impossible

There was an approximate zero chance these two could have ever met.

They should have just moved on with their own lives,

but he couldn't..

.....

Do you want to know why?

Foreword

I watched her slowly walk towards the alter. Each step she took, brought us closer to our future. I can't help but feel the urge of nervousness. The calming music from the nearby piano off the alter was no help. I feel so nervous that I feel like I'm about to melt into a pile of goo. What if she trips? What if the beautiful white dress she's wearing rips? What if I get too nervous and forget what I'm suppose to say once she steps onto the alter?

What if?

The fear inside of me took over. I can't think straight. I can feel the trickles of beads of sweat slide down my forehead. What if I ruin the whole entire wedding? I can't. She'll hate me for the rest of our lives and she'll never accept my love for her again. It'll be all of my fault.

My best man nudged me on the side, hinting me to calm down. I quickly glanced at him and saw him glaring at me. He doesn't want me to ruin this either. No one does. Why can't I just relax? I always see these wedding scenes in dramas, and the groom does his job perfectly. I should've practiced this part while I had the chance!

My best man nudged me again, snapping me back to reality. I realized that she was only one step from stepping onto the alter. I cleared my throat quietly and readjusted my tie. You could hear the soft cries of my mother and hers in the crowd. I took one last deep breath before the ceremony started and readjusted my black tie that hung tightly around my neck again.

I looked up and met her eyes. They were filled with hopes and joy. She couldn't wait to say our vows. She looked extremely beautiful in the white dress that she and my mother picked out together, with its 7-feet long train. Her brown, flowing hair rested above her shoulders.

How could I ever love another?

"LEE TAEMIN!" I froze in shock. My eyes widened at the familiar voice. I felt stiff. Oh no. The whole wedding is ruined. I felt too scared to look up, but I couldn't help myself as I looked to meet my future wife's eyes. For some reason, her smile didn't disappear, but she was.

She was disappearing.

Her whole body was fading away, like the wind was blowing her away. My jaw dropped. I looked around and found our families and friends slowly fading away as well. I looked back at my best man. His eyes narrowed at me before disappearing. I quickly turned back to her, and found her leaning in for a kiss. I stood there frozen like ice. I couldn't move. I waited patiently for her soft lips to press against mine, but our lips never met.

-------------------------

It was a dream. The wedding was a dream. I found myself lying down tucked in my bed with my roommate yanking my arm. I felt tears on my cheeks. I was crying. It was a nightmare.

"Wake up, TaeMinnie! You're going to miss your own wedding today! Hurry and get dressed! It's already 8!" he yelled. I quickly sat up and quickly wiped my tears with the palms of my hands. I remembered that my wedding with her is today!

I ran towards my dresser and quickly, yet gently, unhooked my tuxedo from one of the hangers. I ran into the washroom and dressed as fast as I could. I only have an hour to get ready. I can't believe the day has finally came. I fixed the collar of my white shirt under my black tuxedo as I smiled at myself in the mirror, satisfied. I quickly went through a check-list in my head.

I have my tuxedo? Check.

I have the rings? Check.

Wait... RINGS?! Damn it! How could I forget? I should've gotten them months ago. I ran outside of the washroom to find my roommate fixing my bed like the nice Hyung he is. I ran to him and told him about the rings. He slapped my cheek gently before sending me off to the nearest ring shop which was just a block away. I ran as fast as I could. I can't mess the whole thing up now.

Once I found the store on the other side of the street, I dashed towards it and ran inside. I told the old salesman what my problem was, and he quickly gestured me to look  a few wedding rings. I scanned through the clear box filled with gold and silver rings, until my eyes landed on the perfect two. I quickly purchased them, without caring to look at how much it was. I handed him a handful of cash from my wallet, and he quickly sorted through it, and only kept the amount of money that was needed to purchase the rings. I quickly yelled thanks before I dashed back outside.

I ran without looking both sides of the streets before I ran across the street to the other side, without having a care in mind. My heart was beating as fast as I ran.
