ROTTEN MONSTER

My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark

4366545524_b92277056b_o

It was dark outside.

The cold wind howling at the windows. Begging to penetrate the darkness within the house.

Already 2 a.m in the morning.
***
In a dark room, lit by moonlight, sat a small seven-year old boy on his bed.
He sat there shivering, with his eyes practically bulging out of his face from fear.
He wrapped his arms around his knees, as he buried his head in them, in a protective position.

The drumming of his own heartbeat was the only thing he could hear.

He concentrated on the moonlight that came through the window and cast a grid-like shadow when coalescing with the window. He couldn't utter a single breathe.

Beginning to draw circles on the bed with his fingers, anticipating the grunting sound that he heard downstairs below his bedroom.

He knew his father had come home.

Once again, he heard shouting and screaming and his mother’s cries. The same thing everyday since he could remember.

This routine has made his senses become more acute. His hearing became sharper-his mind always working.

He had little sisters to take care of. He couldn't let the twins get hurt. He couldn't allow himself to be selfish.

He knew. He just knew his mother gave up. She no longer fights back. She stands and takes the punishment.

'She doesn't deserve it.'

His father is drunk again, he concluded.

Cautiously he checked the closet door across his room. Making sure it was locked properly.

It became a part of his daily ritual to take his little sisters and hide them in the closet whenever their father had not come home at the proper time.

He knew what was to come.

So he did what he could. He couldn't let them get hurt by that monster.

Suddenly he hears the breaking of dishes. The screams from the woman turn to silence.

There is an eerie silence.

The whole house is at a stand still. As if everything is frozen.

The wooden floor boards begin to creek.

This is the longest silence imaginable.

In the dark. All alone.

A heavy set man is climbing the stairs towards the little boy's room.

His voice drunk and playful, "Changmin-ah, Daddy just wants to play. Where are you hiding?"

What does he want? What could he possibly want now?

The little boy, Changmin, feels a shiver run down his spine. He gulped. Wishing his mother would stay by his side and embrace him. Protect him forever.

"Umma. Please say something," he whispered-indicate to me that you are alive-he thought.

He hears the creaking noises coming closer to his door...
Something breaks on the floor, probably a bottle of whiskey...

He twitches.
Frightened, his chest begins to tie in knots.
He can't breathe...

As if it is the calm before lightening strikes you.
He knows what's to come...
He begins to hyperventilate...
Trying to calm his body, he begins to take short breathes. His gathers his body closer together.
He can't hide.
He can't let his sisters get caught.

He is oldest...

He must protect.

The door of Changmin's room is smashed open. It smacks against the wall and splinters easily under the giant man's large arms. The drunk comes into the room, whiskey on his left hand. His right hand covered in blood.

Changmin looks up at his father, Yu Huan, with large round eyes. Fear set deep into every bone of his body. He lets out a shuddering breathe, realizing he wasn't breathing all this time.

Yu Huan looks down at his son. His eyes crazy and a smile on his face. He can barely stand up straight. He appears to wobble back and forth as if the floor is made of styrofoam.

His face is covered in scratches and blood.

"Changminnie, wanna play a game with Daddy?"

The small boy looks up at his father. Afraid of the mischievous underlying tone.

Something is wrong.
"Changminnie I need you to find a shovel," Yu Huan said with a big smile on his face, making his cheeks almost reach his mismatched eyes. A large deep-set scar ran down from his temple, fresh.

Changmin isn't a stupid boy. He's seen plenty of movies to see why someone would need a shovel. By looking at his father's appearance he feared to go downstairs to see what had happened.

Paralyzed to where he sat, his face grew deathly pale.

Yu Huan, in his state of psychosis, did not like the fact that his son sat there expressionless. He took it as offense and disobedience.
He set the bottle of whiskey down on the floor.

Wiped the blood off on his jeans.

Changmin realized he wasn't bleeding...it was someone else's blood...

"Umma..." Was the only word he could utter.

Yu Huan stopped smiling.

He didn't like that word. That word had a face. That he didn't like.

He snapped.

He grabbed the boy by the hair.

And slapped him across the face.
Changmin cried out in pain.
Tears ran down his face.
No...he has to be strong...

Yu Huan's eyes saw what they had done. But they weren't actually seeing. They weren't understanding. His hands moved of their own volition. His mind just wasn't sober.

Clouded.

Darkness.

He has gone too far into the darkness.Uncaring. He lost his humanity.

Once again, he grabbed the crying boy and punched him this time when he made another whimpering sound. He just didn't like looking at his own son. He resembled his wife. Too much. Just too much.

Constant nagging. Always.

He didn't want to hear any of it. He knew what kind of a scum he was.

He just couldn't stop. The darkness completely enveloped him.

The bottle of whiskey was the only thing that could make him normal. He felt comfort in the liquor. It held his soul.

It didn't talk back to him. It didn't hate him. It only gave him pleasure.

He loved the way it made his blood rush and relaxed him.

It made him happier than his wife.

He married her for her money. He needed it. She was beautiful. That was a plus.
Gorgeous.
But...
Smart as well-That was a minus.
She found out about his double life.
...that he had another woman on the side.
...about his other son.
... his dealings with the triads
...that he was leader of one of the most notorious drug rings between Japan and Korea.

What was he going to do? Kill her?

The charade went too far along already.

He became too well known as a public figure.

The name Shim never leaving the lips of people's mouths.

'What a hero! What a philanthropist! Beautiful family!'

He loved the attention.

He couldn't sully the name in front of his civilian puppets.
When he first married her, it was all fun and games. He promised her the world.

He built himself up to be the perfect world class police detective.

The nation's hero.
So wonderful they transferred him from Korea to Japan to become a diplomat between the two nations.
Perfection.

They had the perfect wedding.
Three perfect kids-Changmin and twin girls, So-jin and Joo-jin

In Korea- here he was the perfect father and husband. But, behind the scenes, when he went on important missions, to Japan, there he became a true leader. , alcohol, ion. All the women money could buy. He became a free man. He created his own underground Garden of Eden. Garden ofpleasure and .

But then came his girlfriend from Japan. The raging became angry. Her son had become forgotten.

Junnosuke.

Years earlier she came crawling to him with a pregnant belly demanding he claim fatherhood and pay child support. He didn't deny her. Instead he bought her a nice house far away from him. The starved thirsty wanted more, of course. Gold for her is like oxygen.

She unveiled little bits of his past and present to his wife- Chung Ae- opening her eyes to his true face.

Their relationship began to decay.

The masks came off.

You can't hide the under the carpet. The whole room will stink up eventually. The vile odor spreading and becoming like poison.

***

“Changmin-ah,” his mother would come to his side every night and hug him really tightly against her bosom. Constantly she would remind him that everything would be ok.

Children always know that something is wrong.

When in his mother’s embrace his fingers would trace along the bruises on her face. Her lips dry and cracked, tears pouring down from her eyes. She held her son closer to her chest. Trying to envelope him completely. Protect him from the ugly world that she dared to walk into.

Changmin kept that broken image of his mother in his head. As his father continuously beat him, he reminded himself that he has to be strong.

Such a small child. Baring the world on his shoulders. Not understanding, he knew he can't be a shield  He was far too small. But at least he can become the main focus of his father's attention. Even if he died right now on the floor of his bedroom. He knew at least his sisters were safe.

He gave them clear instructions. If anything-run-just run-don't look back.
"Your mother is quite special," Yu Huan smiled, "she bore a punk child like you? Junnosuke can take bigger punches than a piece of like you."

Another insult and another smack ran across Changmin's face as his father grabbed him by the collar of his white, now blood stained, shirt.

Changmin felt rage now. He was mad.

A sound came from the closet.

A small whimper.

Then a thud.

Yu Huan turned around.

Realizing the girls must be in there.

"."

Changmin bit his father's hands and he quickly got out of the big man's grip.

He grabbed the bottle of whiskey, while he was distracted.

Yu Huan nursed his bitten fingers, Changmin's antics angered him only more. His drunken stature was an advantage to Changmin on the other hand.

Today is the day we run away from home girls.

Yu Huan's attention changed from the closet and back to his son.

Changmin jumped on his bed to give himself more height and he began to mock the older man, daring him to get closer.

The older man in a blind rage came running after him.

Changmin gripped the whiskey bottle tightly and smashed it across his father's face.

Yu Huan fell on the floor with a loud noise.
Changmin quickly opened the closet door. His sisters ran out to give him a tight hug, frightened. He grabbed both their hands and ran down the stairs.

He ran straight out the back door. His eyes did not want to see what had become of his mother.

He put it out of his mind.

Thankfully, thanks to his smart brain, he packed both the girls with  backpacks full of water, snacks, and a stash of $120,000 that he stole
from his father's desk.

None of these things will last them a long time and he had no idea where they will go. But he had one thing set on his mind-

He will do everything to protect his sisters.
That is his main goal.

Chapter 12: Wow, either you updated insanely fast or I'm been behind on my reading. I automatically went to this chapter and I got so confused until I realized that I missed two other ones. Wah! Well, the relationships between each other are really starting to build will at least the one between Yunho and Jaejoong and Yoochun and Changmin which is really cute and loveable to see. I really liked the way that Yunho handled the whole abandonment thing with Jaejoong. It wasn't quite like a lover but almost. I mean their relationship needs to be based on trust and understanding first right?

I'm glad the story is starting to move along a lot faster. Changmin got scouted for SM! Yay! He'll be able to be with his savior Yoochun and meet his pseudo-parents. Ahh, the anticipation. Hahaha and of course the eccentric people who posed as Changmin's parents are friends of Heechul. They are nearly as crazy as he is, of course in a loveable way. I'm also glad that Changmin's sisters are okay though. It is really sad that he won't be able to be with them but at least he knows where they are and that they are safe. I mean besides being with them that is the best possibility there is. Ahh and the dorky handsomeness of Changmin's audition video, so squisable!

There is so much to say but next up is Yunho. Oh, poor boy. I really do wonder how good his voice was before his throat problems though because I do love his voice and if it got worse I wonder just how wonderful it was before all of this. I hope Jaejoong figures out Yunho's struggle and helps him out and supports him just like what Yunho did for him.

Just waiting for next thing to happen excites me! I really like reading about their training days and to see people's views on how those days were like are really exciting for me. Of course you have your own twist with the whole mafia thing but I really love it lots! Please update soon and bring Junsu in too! I'm starting to miss that duck- dolphin. Made the cut off for length of review!

Chapter 9: You are indeed evil in delaying Yoosu but it seems like Yoochun already has a bit of a crush on Junsu judging from how he asked Donghae whether an unspecified someone would be at the gathering. It's cool how you included Donghae as one of Yoochun's contacts though, SM Family connections indeed. And I'm glad that Changmin is settling into life with Yoochun okay but I can't help but worry about his sisters. The fact that they are in Beijing makes me feel really uneasy but hopefully nothing horrible happens to them!

Poor Jaejoong though, I'm guessing this is around the time period he finds out he is adopted? It was pretty creative of you to connect that to the whole hamburger incident though. I always thought it was a little weird that Heechul and Jaejoong had a falling out just because of that. I hope Yunho helps Jaejoong out of his funk and maybe a confession of feelings will occur? And one thing I did think was weird is the fact that you had Donghae call Yoochun hyung. I'm pretty sure that they are both the same age so they could be calling each other casually rather than with honorifics.

I am literally dying for more DBSK interaction though. The delay of cute, innocent Junsu is killing me. Yoosu or not, I want Junsu. I always thought his friendship with Eunhyuk during their training days was heartwarming. The fact that Eunhyuk always protected and comforted him in his hard times and sincerely congratulated him for debuting first represented how strong their friendship was. And hahaha, I can see the bad influence Eunhyuk is giving Donghae by showing him . But thanks for the fast update! I can't wait to see what happens next! Loved it! :D

Chapter 8: Yay! A fast update and the way Yunho and Jaejoong became friends was really befitting. Simple yet cute? And the fact that Four Seasons came together was really good, they do all have strong personalities and I'm really glad you added all those facts about Yunho and Jaejoong like the fact that Yunho was always really protective of Jaejoong and the fact about Yunho's girlfriend and Heechul. Thanks for clearing up the thing about the timeline! It was really helpful, and honestly, even though I'm a bit biased, I really found Yunho's teeth charming.

I'm kind of anticipating the entrance of the ever cute Junsu because honestly he probably had the worst when it came to the training days with his voice change. But I'm glad that Yoochun got introduced in this chapter and I'm happy that Yunho and Jaejoong are already going to put him under their wing. And Yunjae finally occurs even though its not official, at least they acknowledge their feelings! I'm anticipating the next chapter! I love it! Hopefully you won't get too fed up with my somewhat overly long reviews....

Chapter 6: Gah! This story seems so interesting to me, just the plotline you've semi outline for us is making me anticipate what is to happen next. To be honest I am dying to have more DBSK interaction. They family and togetherness just makes my heart flutter. Just the fact that Yoochun is treating Changmin like a little brother is heartwarming and the beginning of Yunjae is starts to appear in this chapter.

The characterizations you made of Yunho and Jaejoong, especially in their training years is so realistic because in interviews they have said how they have felt in kind of an obscure way and I'm glad the portrayal is spot on. The fact that Yunho has been there so long and mixed with so many different groups must have been hard. The thing is though, I thought Yunho an Jaejoong were in lots of project groups together despite not having debut for awhile and you had them together in the previous chapter and then not strangers in this one. I'm a bit confused since it can't be a time jump since Changmin is starting to get close to Yoochun in this one and in the previous chapter Yoochun just found him. So....if you could clear that up, it'd be greatly appreciated!

I can't wait for Junsu to come in or have Jaejoong mother Changmin. I don't know why but I always find the members babying Changmin so adorable and I really love Changmin/Jaejoong mothering scenes. They are just so adorable. Ahh, my comment has gotten so long with my rambling and I have more to say but it's getting a bit too long..... However! If you can't tell I really love your story a lot so far and am dying to know what is going to happen next! Please update soon! :D
