Reunited

The little moments

“My darling little sister. When you read this, I’m already gone. Hopefully I protected you till the end. Hopefully you are actually alive to read this. I asked the bastard to give you this the moment he decided to end all ties with you, so I have no idea how long you have been waiting. I hope he wasn’t too rough on you, even though he probably was. I’m sorry for leaving you too soon. I’m so, so sorry. You were the only thing that really mattered to me. I didn’t care for the bastard and his business. I didn’t care for the witch and her protective nature of me. I cared for you. You were my only true family there. Don’t you ever doubt that I loved you! Whatever happens to you or me, you should know that nothing of it is your fault. Nothing.

The reason I’m writing this, is because of something I need to tell you. Something important. You are not their child, neither am I. You are from a wealthy Korean family. They kidnapped you when you were a baby. I’m actually only your cousin. I was with my father when they discovered where you were, after 3 years. I got caught trying to sneak into their house. They took me with you to Japan. Changed everything about us and moved back to Korea when everything seemed safe. We became all new people. Our parents searched for years. My dad found me outside of your school one day. I talked the situation through with him and we decided on a plan to get us both out of the kidnappers’ hands. They had been waiting to get a big amount of money. They knew you would be valuable around your 18 birthday, since you were at the ‘marriageable’ age and therefor very important to your father’s business. They did what they could to hide you. I stayed to protect you. It was my duty. I don’t know if they ever got to you in time. I hope they did or that you fought yourself free. You are strong, so if you are still with those bastards that took you away from home. Run and don’t look back. Your real parents live in Gangnam-gu. Your family name is Mun. So you are named Mun Jia. Now you know where I got your nickname from. Find them. No matter how many years have passed. Find them. They are waiting for you.

It explains a lot doesn’t it?

Keep my memory close, just like I’m keeping yours.

I’ll see you when the time comes. Love Nickhun.”

Jia looked out at the sea with teary eyes. Feelings of relief, sadness, joy and bitterness was covering her. “You babo.” Jia sadly said as she looked to the sky. “You should’ve mentioned this sooner. Now I’m even more lost.” Jia felt a warm hand touch her shoulder. She looked to see Soohyun stand behind her. “Are you okay?” Jia had let Soohyun read the letter before her, making sure it wasn’t some kind of death threat from her former father. “Yeah..” Jia sighed and placed her hand on Soohyun’s. “I really want to find my real parents now.” Soohyun wrapped both his arms around Jia and rested his chin on her shoulder. “How about we search for them as soon as we get back into town?” Jia gave a small smile. “Thank you for helping out.” Soohyun gently kissed Jia on the cheek. “Anything for you.”

“So how is she doing?” Eli worriedly asked as him and Soohyun was taking a break from work. “She seems down. I don’t really know what to do. I want to comfort her but at the same time I have no idea what to say.” Soohyun rested his head in his palms. “I want to be there for her and help her but I’m pretty much useless.” Eli frowned and poked his best friend’s forehead. “You know that’s not true. She freaking adores you dude.” Soohyun pouted. “No she doesn’t.” Eli raised his eyebrow. “Okay, I didn’t think I would have to use this but you give me no choice…” Eli took out his phone out and dialled Kevin’s number. “What are you doing?” Eli only smirked and walked a few steps away from Soohyun. “Yeoboseyo?” Soohyun tried to adjust his hearing so he would be able to hear who Eli was talking to but it didn’t quite work. “Yes it’s time for that. I assume you’ve already talking care of it?” Soohyun tilted his head. “What the hell is he up to?”

Soohyun hadn’t been able to get anything out of Eli and left work in an annoyed mood. “I need to get a friend who actually tells me stuff.” Soohyun sighed as he walked up the stairs to his apartment. As he reached his door, a smell of newly baked cookies came from the door. “I guess they had fun today. Just like always.” Soohyun smiled to himself as he unlocked the door. The moment he got inside, Dongho was around his legs. “There is my favourite son.” Soohyun happily said and picked Dongho up from the floor. “Welcome home!” Soohyun’s eyes went wide as he saw Kevin come out from the kitchen. “Kevin? What are you doing here?” Kevin flashed a cute smile and held up a plate filled with cookies. “This.” Kevin walked closer to Soohyun with a serious look. “And the whole Jia situation.” Soohyun glared at Kevin as he sighed. “So it was you Eli talked to on the phone?” Kevin proudly nodded. “We have a great plan for you!” Soohyun closed his eyes and breathed out. “This can’t be good.”

“You don’t think she would be too shocked?” Kevin shook his head. “I’m sure she will be happy, since she doesn’t have to worry about finding her parents anymore.” Soohyun looked at the address a bit sceptically but at the same time it looked familiar to him. “Okay. If you say this will make her mind ease, then I’ll do it.” Kevin clapped his hands together, so did little Dongho who was sitting on a stole in the kitchen. “Mommy!” He happily cheered. Both Kevin and Soohyun chuckled. “I see he calls her mommy now.” Soohyun nodded. “Don’t know if it’s good or bad though.” Kevin gave a sly smirk. “You basically need to marry her now.” Soohyun blushed at the thought, while Kevin just laughed at him. “Good luck mate.” Kevin patted Soohyun on the shoulder and waved at Dongho. “Call me if you get any trouble.” Soohyun nodded and followed Kevin to the hallway. “Don’t worry. I know she will love it.” Soohyun nodded and gave a faint smile. “I hope you are right.” Kevin flashed a breathtaking smile. “I’m always right.”

“This place looks so familiar.” Soohyun stared at the huge white mansion like house before him. He took a deep breath and walked up to the front door. His hand was slightly shaking as he rang the doorbell. Soohyun’s eyes went wide when he saw his father’s high school friend Mr Mun look back at him. “Soohyun? What a pleasant surprise!” Mr Mun wrapped his arms around Soohyun in a warm fatherly hug. “What brings you’re here?” Soohyun stood dumbfounded at looked at Mr Mun. “I didn’t even consider this.” Soohyun blinked a few times before he spoke. “Well I have a matter to discuss with you.” Mr Mun kindly smiled and gestured for Soohyun to enter the house. “Let’s go to my study.”

“Did you by any chance used to have a daughter?” Mr Mun’s eyes got big. “How do you know about that?” Soohyun gulped. “I think I’m dating her.” Mr Mun tilted his head in confusion. “Her name is Jia and she had a brother.. I mean cousin called Nickhun. She just recently found out that she had been kidnapped when she was a baby.” Soohyun noticed the relived expression on Mr Mun’s face. “We have been searching for year.” Mr Mun’s voice was trembling as he held in his tears of joy. “Do you have a picture of her?” Soohyun nodded and took out his phone, showing a picture he took of her and Dongho a few weeks ago. Mr Mun held a hand over his mouth as he saw the resemblance of Jia and her real mother. “It’s her.” Soohyun couldn’t help but smile as he looked at the utterly happy face Mr Mun was making. “She doesn’t know I’m here. I wanted to make sure this was the right place so she didn’t end up disappointed. She is really longing to meet you and your wife.” Mr Mun nodded and called for his wife. “What is it dear? Oh hello Soohyun. What brings you here?” Soohyun bowed and was just about to say something when Mr Mun stopped him. “This brings him here.” Mr Mun showed the picture of Jia and Dongho to Mrs Mun. “Is that?.. Are you… Are you sure?” Mrs Mun started to tear up as she looked at the picture. “She looks like you.” Mr Mun lovingly said as he put a arm around his wife. “She found out who we are and wants to meet us.” Mrs Mun flashed a big happy smile. “She may look like me but she has your eyes. Oh I want to hold her in my arms.” Soohyun smiled as Mr and Mrs Mun hugged each other. ”Me too honey, me too.”

Jia was sitting in her office watching Dongho play on the floor. “I wonder was Soohyun is doing. He left so suddenly and didn’t even tell me anything. It seemed important.” Jia sighed as she turned to her computer screen. “Better work.” She quickly stopped working when she heard her door open. “Soohyun?” She called out as she got up. Dongho quickly ran to the door and started to exclaim “daddy” all over the place. Jia chuckled as she left her office. Jia froze as she saw two strangers in her apartment. “They look like me. Could they be?” Soohyun walked over and took Jia’s hand in his. “This is my father’s high school friend and his wife. Mr and Mrs Mun… Your parents Jia.” Jia’s mouth slightly opened as she stared at the two new people before her. She felt tears start to form in her eyes. Jia slowly started to walk closer to them. “We’ve missed you.” Mr Mun said and pulled Jia in for a tight family hug with Mrs Mun. Mrs Mun immediately started crying and Mr Mun soon followed. They had been waiting for so many years and now they could finally hold their daughter in their arms. Jia sobbed against her father’s shoulder as Dongho tugged on the white dress she was wearing. “Don’t cry mommy.” Jia couldn’t help but smile as she got down on her knees. “It is happy tears Dongho, so don’t worry.” Jia ruffled the little boy’s hair and turned to her parents again. “When did you become a mother?” Mrs Mun happily asked. Jia put her hands up and shook her head. “No no no. Dongho is not mine. I wish he were though. He is an amazing little boy.” Both Mr and Mrs Mun lovingly smiled at Jia. “We need to catch up on you.” Mr Mun started. “Are you free to come to our home on Saturday?” Jia quickly nodded her head. “Great.” Mr Mun said and pulled Jia in for another hug. “It’s so good to finally have you with us.” Jia hugged her father back. “This may sound stupid but I feel like I’ve know you forever.” Jia said and pulled away from her father and took both his and her mother’s hand. “I’m so happy I could die.” Jia exclaimed as a new set of tears streamed down her cheeks. “We would love to stay longer but sadly business calls.” Mr Mun said and hugged her once again. Mrs Mun gave Jia a motherly kiss on the cheek before she followed her husband to the door. “See you Saturday, our beautiful daughter.” Mrs Mun said and waved as her and her husband walked down the stairs.

Jia turned to Soohyun and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Do you have any idea how happy you just made me?” Soohyun flashed a pleased smile and pecked Jia’s lips. “Why don’t you show me?” Soohyun smirked and winked at her. Jia slightly blushed and looked away for a second. When she turned her face back to Soohyun’s she pressed her lips against his in a loving kiss. Soohyun pulled her closer by the waist and gently against her bottom lip. Jia parted her lips and Soohyun slid in his tongue. They both gave pleased sighs as they slowly pulled away. “Thank you Soohyun.” Soohyun shook his head. “You should thank Eli and Kevin. I believe they found the address.” Jia smiled. “I’ll thank them too then.” Soohyun flashed a breathtaking smile. “I love you.” Jia whispered as she brought her face close to Soohyun’s. “I love you too, my princess.” Jia giggled and captured Soohyun’s lips in another sweet and deep kiss.
