Asianfanfics vs. Livejournal
Things I Cannot StandI know several other people have already commented about this before, but I felt like touching upon the topic anyways.
Many people use asianfanfics as a site to post their fanfics, however many also use Livejournal. I actually use both, so I believe that I know enough about both sites to give a fairly accurate description and judgement on both.
Both sites have their advantages and disadvantages. For example, asianfanfics offers better support for chaptered stories.
However, personally, I have to say I prefer reading on Livejournal.
In my experience, the quality of fics on Livejournal are generally just so much higher than the quality of those on asianfanfics. That's not to say there aren't 'good' and 'bad' fics on both sites, but I've come across far fewer bad fics on Livejournal (and if there are 'bad' fics, then few people read them.)
I have several theories for why this is true, one of which is that since people already have such a high standard of fics on Livejournal, people whose fics are not as 'good' are more intimidated to post. Another is that the 'you/oc' fics that tend to dominate asianfanfics are largely absent on Livejournal, and those are the fics that are most often targeted as 'bad.'
But think about it. For example, all of the 'famous' EXO fics (Absolute Chanyeol, Arbitrage, Anterograde Tomorrow, etc) were all posted on Livejournal first.
Coincidence?
I think not.
What's weird, though, is that although so many people complain about 'bad fics' on asianfanfics and say Livejournal is better, many of the Livejournal writers who also have asianfanfics accounts have little to no subscribers. This is something I just don't understand...
