The doctor recommended that the six men take the back door out of the hospital.  That way they could avoid the fans and walk straight to the park adjoined to the building.  The six hat and shades cladded men emerged into the crisp midday air.  A slight chill blew through them and Hyesung shivered in response.  Winter was slowly turning into spring, the snow had long since melted, but the freezing north winds remained.  Hyesung crossed his arms over his chest in an attempt to keep warm.  A blanket fluttered into view and strong hands lay it over the slim man.  Hyesung looked up into Eric’s face.

              “Thought you’d be cold, so I brought this with us,” the leader grinned down.  Hyesung’s face broke into a small smile in response.  Hyesung took a moment to appreciate the older man’s consideration.  Everything that Eric did brought warmth to Hyesung’s soul and gave him the strength to continue in this sometimes seemingly hellish reality.

              They quickly reached the entrance to the park and set out along the path.  The park was very beautiful and well kept.  It was a private park, only meant for the hospital and the apartment building on the other side; so they didn’t have to worry about being disturbed by fans.  The six men kept up a leisurely pace and simple conversations as they enjoyed the warm sunshine together.  Hyesung wasn’t really paying attention to his five friends, he was too busy breathing in the fresh air and appreciating the sunlight.  The path cut through a small grove of trees and Hyesung couldn't help but gaze in awe at the intricate patterns the sunshine through the foliage made on the ground.  How had Hyesung missed all this beauty before?  Being deprived of the simple luxuries in life for two weeks was enough to make the vocalist appreciate everything so much more.

              Eric was constantly keeping an eye on the younger man in the wheelchair.  He didn’t join the other members’ conversation; he was perfectly content with watching Hyesung’s face.  He was amused by the singer’s fascination with the environment around him.  Eric could compare Hyesung’s attitude to that of a child coming to a park for the first time with his innocent attraction to the small things like the flowers and trees.  Eric’s heart welled seeing his best friend in such a good mood.  As time went on, Eric noticed the enthusiasm leave the younger man’s face; which had settled into a look of satisfaction.  As more time passed, satisfaction was replaced by sleepiness.  How long had they been walking?  Eric checked his watch; they had been wandering for forty minutes.  Luckily none of the members had schedules that day.  When the leader looked back, he found the younger man’s eyes closed in slumber.  Eric lightly tapped Dongwan who was at his side.  Dongwan turned his smiling face towards the leader.  Eric gestured to Hyesung without the other members noticing.  Dongwan studied the singer’s sleeping face with a slight frown.  The shorter man checked his watch to confirm the time and his eyebrows raised in surprise.  They had been out for almost an hour.  Despite Hyesung’s rapid recovery thus far, he knew that they couldn’t put too much strain on the injured man.  Dongwan cleared his throat.

              “I think we better start heading back, Hyesung’s had enough,” Dongwan lightly interrupted the other men’s conversation.  Andy stopped pushing the wheelchair and peered over to look at his sleeping hyung’s face; Minwoo and Junjin copied.  They all silently agreed and turned around to head back down the path.  Junjin took Hyesung from Andy and pushed his hyung towards the hospital.  The hospital slowly crept into view.  With just meters to go before reaching the white building, the group of men was interrupted by a pair of excited, teenage girls cutting off their path.

              “Omo!  It is Shinhwa!” One girl squealed.

              “I couldn’t believe it at first.  But you were right?  What a coincidence seeing them here,” The other girl chattered in response.  All of the members were taken aback for a second and were too flustered to respond.

              “Could this possibly be…” the first girl glanced down at the unconscious Hyesung.

              “Hyesung Oppa!” The second girl screamed and then leaned down into the sleeping man’s face to get a better look.  Junjin pulled back the wheelchair protectively.  Eric took a step forward and was about to scold the two fans, but he never got the opportunity to.

              “Hey, he’s a patient, remember?  Don’t be so rude,” An older girl arrived and yanked the teenager back.

              “I’m sorry if they were disrespectful,” The young woman in her 20s bowed politely.  Eric bowed slightly in response.

              “They’re my younger sister and her friend,” She explained while yanking on both of the teenagers’ collars.  The woman turned her attention to Hyesung’s sleeping form.

              “We’re all big Shinhwa fans, when we heard the news we were devastated,” The members listened quietly.

              “I just want to tell you that you don’t have to worry about us fans,” She sent the five men a reassuring smile.

              “We all support Shinhwa and hope for Hyesung’s speedy recovery.  Even when Hyesung returns, we will support him no matter what limits he will have,” the young woman finished and bowed again.  She sent a stern look to the two younger girls and walked away with the teenagers trailing behind.  There was a long pause as each of the men processed what had just happened.

              “Well…that was unexpected,” Junjin finally broke the silence.

              “Yeah, I didn’t even have time to react,” Minwoo commented.

              “That was awfully nice of her to say though.  I’m sure that’s how most fans feel,” Andy smiled happily.

              “Yeah, we really have nothing to worry about,” Dongwan was grinning widely.

              “Our fans are awesome!  Manse!” Dongwan ended awkwardly, but it worked to bring up the mood.  The other members laughed and Eric found himself smiling along.

              “Mmmm,” Hyesung grumbled and all the members looked down into his face.  The singer furrowed his eyebrows and shivered, still sleeping.  The five men looked at each other.

              “Time to go,” Junjin began pushing the wheelchair again.

              It didn’t take long for the men to reach the hospital and enter the warm building once again.  Dongwan shivered at the temperature change,

              “I didn’t realize how cold it was outside,” The other members mumbled in agreement.  Eric was focused on Hyesung’s face; the younger man was still sleeping.

              The group of six bustled down the hall towards Hyesung’s room.  Once inside, the other members carefully lifted the injured man from the chair.  Eric was supporting the younger man’s head.  Hyesung groaned in irritation and clutched onto Eric’s shirt in his delirium.  The leader froze and looked down at the slender hand that was grasping a handful of his clothing.  Junjin, who was clutching onto his friend’s slender legs glanced up and noticed the elder’s tender gaze.  After a moment, Junjin’s arms began to ache and the baby bird cleared his throat startling the leader and ruining the moment.  Eric quickly continued to lift Hyesung from the wheelchair and carefully place the singer on the bed.  Even after the transfer was complete, Hyesung refused to release his grip on Eric’s shirt.  The other five members watched in amusement as their leader tried to get the sleeping Hyesung to release his hold.

              “Noooooo,” Hyesung whined cutely as Eric began to forcefully pry Hyesung’s fingers open.  When Eric was finally free he stepped back and eyed the vocalist warily.  Hyesung simply turned his head away from the older man and began to snore softly.  Eric released a relieved sigh and turned around.  The other four members were giving him knowing grins.  Minwoo winked at the older man and Dongwan wiggled his eyebrows.

              “Aish!” Eric pushed past them embarrassed as his cheeks flushed red.  Once Eric was outside the other members looked at each other and silently giggled.  It had become their new favorite hobby, watching the interactions between their leader and main vocalist.

              “Do you think they have mutual feelings for each other?” Andy raised his eyebrows excitedly.  Minwoo considered the maknae’s question before answering.

              “If you think about it, they do seem to act like people in love around each other,” The other members nodded in agreement.

              “I would support them if they get together.  Eric has been a big help to Hyesung during this tough time,” Dongwan answered after seriously contemplating the scenario.

              “And then Ricsung would be real!” Junjin chirped in excitedly.  At that comment, they all began giggling loudly.  Eric heard their loud laughter from where he stood by the window at the end of the hall.

              “Gossiping school girls,” He grumbled in their direction.

              Junjin reentered the hospital room pushing his mother bird’s wheelchair.  They had just returned from a walk in the park.  Ever since the first time he was allowed outside the hospital, he had made going to the park his daily routine.  The members and Hyesung’s family took turns taking him walking every morning.  Eric and Hyesung’s doctor were already waiting inside the room for them.  Hyesung raised an eyebrow in surprise at the two visitors’ presence.

              “What’s going on?” Hyesung asked as Junjin pushed the older man to the side of his bed and put the breaks on the chair’s wheels.  Eric was grinning widely at the lead singer much to the younger man’s confusion.

              “Today, we’ll start your rehabilitation,” The doctor explained happily.  Junjin squealed at Hyesung’s side.

              “It’s been a month since your operation.  Now you’re healed enough,” The doctor continued.

              “Isn’t that great hyung?” Junjin gently shook the singer’s shoulders.  Hyesung felt a smile break out on his face.  Physical therapy meant that he would be able to get around on his own.  He would be able to stop having to rely on those around him.  It also meant, that maybe, maybe he could start trying to walk again.

              “When do we start?  Now?” Hyesung could barely contain his excitement.  Eric couldn’t help but chuckle at the slim man’s enthusiasm.  On any other given day Hyesung would’ve yelled at the Loach for laughing at him, but not today, he was too happy to care.  He was going to start his road to recovery!  His road back to his fans!  His road back to the stage with his Shinhwa brothers!  How could he not be in a good mood?  The doctor laughed at Hyesung’s enthusiasm as well.

              “Easy there, I’ll be back in a few hours to take you to our therapy room,” The doctor walked out leaving Hyesung to count the minutes and seconds until his rehabilitation officially started.
