Fatal attraction

Author's note: So, on twitter I asked you guys if it's okay for me to post chapter(s) that has not been sent for proofread and you guys said it's okay. Thank you so much for the feedbacks. Proofreading process could take a while and things were so much easier back then when I don't have to send the chapters for proofread. You're about to read awkward sentences or major grammatical errors, so please read at your own risk ^^ I'm still going to send the chapters for proofread so if some of you want to wait for that, I will let you know the updates on twitter (my_hoyadori). But I can't promise how long it would take because it will depends on my proofreaders and I don't want to pressure them because they have their own lives to attend to. So without further ado, here's an update and happy reading :)

Yoonji POV

“Ahjusshi, you’re here.”

I mentally cursed at myself for forgetting to tell him that Mr.Li had arrived. I muttered an apology but he gave a quick wave of dismissal on my apology. He handed Woohyun a navy colored bag which I hadn’t realized it was even there with him before. Woohyun then gave it to me and I looked at both of them blankly.

“There are some clothes in there. For you.”

I left both of them to attend their private conversation and headed back to the room. There was a few clothes in the bag, including some undergarments and I felt embarrassed to find them fitted me perfectly. Even the bras.

Jeez, man and their hawk eyes.

My phone was still charging and I switched it to flight mode so the battery would be full quickly; a tip I learned from my best friend. I changed my clothes into something more appropriate although I liked being in his shirts and sweatpants. Disappointment hit me when I realized Mr.Li was nowhere to be seen when I went back downstairs. It wasn’t because I hated being with him but I would prefer another person’s accompany with us rather than being alone with him. And after what happened earlier on, adding another reason why I should stay away from him.

Woohyun helped me preparing the breakfast and I would have to admit that I was pretty surprised to see his skill in the kitchen. Although he wasn’t perfect but it was very rare to see a single man like him knowing more than the basics in cooking. We ate while chatting; mostly it was me asking him questions. About his experiences while working in the industry and how he achieved his success at such a young age. I couldn’t help but to admire this man in front of me. I wished I had at least half of his courage in me.

He was looking for something in his pockets; a piece of paper, and gave it to me. His lips curled into a big, genuine smile.

“Thank you for doing my work for me, and I’m sorry for being a jerk. I’ll make it up to you.”

It was my medical leave note with a big “YOU’RE WELCOME”; my handwritten on it. I shrugged, trying to be nonchalant and cool about it but failed miserably. I had to taper my smile as I ate my breakfast.

“Hey, do you want to take a ride around the place?”

I jerked back to the reality and he looked at me funnily; like I had just come back from floating in the air, which I did. Too much thinking did that to me sometimes. We went outside and there was a bicycle parked in front of the door. At first I thought we were going to ride a motorcycle.

Hmm, this is going to be interesting.

But the problem was there’s only one bicycle when there were two of us. I looked at him and then to the bicycle. He just smiled and hopped onto the front seat. I didn’t have any choice but to take the back seat and held my arms tightly around my side; trying not to be awkward about it but I’m probably am right now. Woohyun shook his head and sighed. He then reached out for my arms and wrapped them around his waist, tightly.

He showed me around the place; from the horse’s field and to the garden. Woohyun wanted to show me the horses but after the accident I had with a horse when I was a little, I politely declined his offer. We also met some of his workers along the way and I couldn’t help but to watch him secretly as he talked to them. The bag he was carrying in front of him was filled with mineral bottles and snacks so he could pass those along to them. Watching their interactions was fun. Woohyun joked around them a lot and suddenly I saw something different in him. That different side of him unlike of what I’ve read in the tabloid or the magazines.

Unlike his professional self at the office or his strict ethics in front of his workers. Right now I saw a relaxed and playful Nam Woohyun. I didn’t know how but when he smiled, everything else seems to be smiling back at him. And it made me smiled too.

We were heading back when I came across this beautiful lake just near the house. As if he could hear my mind, he stopped the bicycle and I didn’t wait to see what he wanted to do as I hopped off to admire the surrounding. I looked around at the landscape but I couldn’t see where the end of the lake was. I could tell it was pretty far away from where we were. A dragon fly landed on my hand when I dipped it in the water. Its wings were blue and red with a few stripes of yellow and I could easily say that this was the loveliest dragon fly I’ve ever seen so far. It flew when I moved and perched on the flower that was floating on the lake. It’s been a while since the last time I had been to countryside and this reminded me of my home so much. I looked back to see Woohyun grinning at me.

“I know,” he said. “It’s pretty isn’t it?”

He was sitting on the grass and I went to sit next to him.

“Now I know why you like this place so much.” I said.

Without uttering a word, he lay down and placed his head on my laps. It startled me at first, his sudden action; but I relaxed and straightened my legs for him carefully. We sat in silence for few good minutes, taking in the beautiful scenery before he spoke again.

“No one else knew about this place except me. At first, I didn’t know whether it’s a good decision to bring you here, but I’m glad that I did.”

I fought the urge to smile.

“Whenever something happens, I always find myself coming back here. This place is completely different than what I’m used to. You know.. the noises of the city. At first, I found it uncomfortable being at this secluded area but then I got used to it.”

His brows furrowed as if he was thinking about something burdening. I didn’t say anything as I listened to him.

“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been surrounded with paperwork and files. I couldn’t go out to play with my friends. I couldn’t even go out without someone following me. I tried sneaking out once, but I was found out by my dad and that was the last time I ever went out alone. In the end, I just gave up and spent most of my times in the library at our house.”

He chuckled and looked up at me. “I read too you know. Sometimes, I follow my mom and help her with her garden. It was really relaxing. But after my mom passed away, I just stopped going there. I followed my father to his company after I got back from school and I pretty much spent my childhood there. It’s sad isn’t it.”

It wasn’t a question but it was rather a statement.

“My mother was the total opposite of my father. When she’s around, I felt so safe. Because I know when I fall, she will always be there to pick me up. She made sure my childhood was filled with smiles and happiness. But when she was gone, everything else was gone with her. Growing up is hard. But growing up without her is harder. When I was still young, I didn’t need to think about what I wanted to be. Or what I had to do. I can have fun without thinking too much. I didn’t know my responsibility was going to be this difficult and hard. Sometimes, I just wanted to go back to the past and enjoy my life to the fullest.”

He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath. “That’s why Peter Pan never wanted to grow up.”

My heart ached for him, but when he flashed the warmest smile I’d ever seen and my heart suddenly felt comforted.

“You don’t talk much, don’t you?”

“Well, that’s because I don’t have anything interesting to say at all.”

He laughed softly. “I’m glad that you find my stories are somewhat interesting.”

I stared at the sky, then to the lake; watching as the water flowing calmly.  “I live a simple life, Woohyun. I go to work to earn money, I read books when I’m bored, I eat when I’m hungry and I sleep when I’m sleepy. And sometimes I eat when I’m bored too.”

The defined muscles of his chest stretched across the fitted shirt he was wearing when he laughed. When I looked at him again, my eyes locked down to his and I felt my heart sped up when he smiled so deep; I could see his beautiful dimple.

I willed myself to break the eye contact before I made something embarrassing. Or stupid.

With a mental smack to my brain, I turned my attention to the sky. It was getting late. He probably noticed it too when he suddenly sat upright and got up.

“We probably should go back.”

I followed him but my legs felt numb and I almost stumbled when I tried to stand up. It must have been because I sat in the same position for too long.

“What’s wrong?”

Woohyun looked at me worriedly but I just shook my head and told him I was fine as I patted my legs so the blood could circulate better. Suddenly, he knelt in front of me and tapped on his shoulders.

“What?”

I blurted out, asking him a stupid question because it was very obvious that he was going to help me. I just stared at him, not knowing what to do.

“Let’s go.”

He hooked his arms around my legs and I jerked to him as he rose up and start walking. Neither of us said a word as he carried me. I just hope he couldn’t feel the pounding beats of my heart. I couldn’t stop chewing on my bottom lips; a nervous habit of mine. The air was thick with humidity, and I looked around to distract myself. I had a bad experience with height and although this wasn’t too bad but I still couldn’t let myself looking down at the ground because I’m afraid that he’d suddenly let go of me and I would fall down. I could tell he knew about it; maybe by the way I was holding on to him, too tightly I’m afraid.

“Hold on to me and I won’t let you fall. I promise.”

 And so I did.
