Chapter 15

Love You More

Byunghun was roaming around the streets casually while waiting for Ji Kyung’s Saturday class to end. It was a nice sunny day, so he walked along the busy streets in lighthearted steps, his eyes darting from left to right looking at the living people around him. There were kids bouncing excitedly around the clown to get themselves a free balloon, there were the teenagers who were occupied with taking photos of themselves holding their precious snacks, then there were adults who seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere, evident in their quickened pace and tensed eyebrows, even on such a nice weekend. He will never understand the rush of the adults, and he will no longer get a chance to experience that. Unknowingly, a sigh escaped from his mouth, but he quickly cleared the regretful thoughts away. He tried to focus back on capturing all that was happening before his eyes, even the little boring things, into his memory. He didn’t have much time left here anyway, so he wanted to make the most out of it.

I will surely miss this place.

Another sigh.

As he was walking and looking around, he noticed two mysterious beings, both shrouded in a dark, hooded robe, standing in front of the bus stop a couple of steps away. He couldn’t help but shiver when he recognized them as the Grim Reapers. The two were seemingly talking to each other and checking the cards on their hands, and Byunghun quickly realized that someone was going to die, probably from a deadly accident. However, he didn’t idle at his spot for long, because he knew that bumping into them would be of nothing good for him, so he decided to turn to the other direction and escape from the scene.

Unfortunately, he managed to only take one step forward when a voice, which sent a shiver down his spine, called out to him.

You’ve seen us, why are you pretending not to?

Byunghun didn’t reply, but he was rooted in his spot fearfully.

Lee Byunghun-sshi?

One of the Grim Reaper appeared right before his eyes, and stared down at his lowered head. Byunghun had no choice but to timidly raise his head to greet the Grim Reaper in a tensed smile. The Grim Reaper continued to stare on for a while, so Byunghun hastily spoke.

I-I have a permit to stay here!

Yes, I’m well aware of that, Byunghun-sshi. But I’m going to remind you again that you only have 7 days left to stay here. No more excuses after that, understand?

Ok…

See you at the bridge. Remember, if you don’t show up on time, I might actually bring you to somewhere that’s worse than “not-so-nice”.

“Is there a way to un-love someone?” She asked, looking innocently at the psychologist who was seated across her in a collected composure.

The older woman chuckled at the younger one's question, then shook her head to disagree with Ji Kyung.

“As far as I know, I’m afraid not. You can, however, change the way you perceive the person or learn the ways to live without them. It will be a long process, but I’m sure you’ll be able to heal from it after some time. We can work on this issue step by step in the next few sessions. Besides, you have a great healer by your side that will ease your journey, don’t you?”

She grinned to herself dreamily as she reminisced about the session with her psychologist, she knew the “healer” that was mentioned referred to none other than Myungsoo. Anyways, after a few sessions, she came to realize that therapy really wasn’t as intimidating as it sounds, and with Myungsoo checking up on her every now and then, she felt safe and glad that she had started this journey after all.

Ji Kyung’s consciousness continued to be drifted away from the lecture, and was only brought back to the present moment when her phone buzzed busily on the table. She then immediately realized that it was time for her to take her medications upon checking her phone, so she rummaged through her bag to find the packets of pills. Her actions had caught Luna’s attention, so her friend was now eyeing her from aside with an inquiring look.

“Is this really necessary?” The short girl questioned as she sees Ji Kyung swallowing the pills.

“Yeah, don’t worry. I’m positive I won’t be taking them for a lifetime.” The latter one nodded as she assures her worried friend by tapping her shoulder softly multiple times. “I guess.” She added in a whisper, inaudible to her friend. There was a slight doubt in her two words, and Ji Kyung wouldn’t deny that part of herself was certainly worried about taking these pills to keep her emotions under control. Nonetheless, she did remember that her therapist had told her that she can stop them when she no longer experience intrusive memories of the traumatic incident. Thus, Ji Kyung tried to convince herself in order not to dwell too much on the medications and just go with the flow for the time being.

Fortunately, her concerned thoughts were washed away once again when the lecturer had dismissed the class, and Myungsoo was already waiting outside to pick her up.

---

The couple were having their late lunch in a nice restaurant. It was a date Myungsoo had suggested, said it was kind of a reward for his sweetheart because she followed through the therapy well. Moreover, it's been awhile since they went for a proper date, so he picked today to just do whatever typical couples do. They booked a movie after lunch, and was planning to chill at the beach later in the day when the sun has set.

As expected, his girlfriend was delighted to carry out their plans for the day, and it was obvious in her bouncy movements as well as the constant grin on her face. However, when the both were waiting for the dessert to be served, he noticed that she had regained her composure, and he became curious to her sudden change of behavior. When the girl was questioned about it, she then explained that it felt weird to not see Byunghun around as usual. Myungsoo nodded in agreement upon realization. Slight feelings of uneasiness crept up to her mind, but she tried shaking it off with the thought that she had already promised to start learning the ways to live without him, as her therapist had mentioned.

Little did they know, Byunghun was actually there with the couple, but he didn't want to interrupt the couple’s quality time anymore because he wanted his girl to get used to his absence. He also didn't have the heart to keep messing with her feelings and their relationship. As cruel as it can be, he had started to see himself as the outsider that didn't belong anywhere. Truth to be told, he didn't even belong here in the living world anymore since that fateful day. Hence, he made a stern decision to gradually back off their lives with his remaining days here.

---

The hours went by in a blink when the lovely duo were having fun on their date. They were now on their last meal of the day in a café nearby their condo while the moon slowly replaced the sun in the sky. As Ji Kyung drinks her iced chocolate, Myungsoo was smiling at her, as if he was waiting for the right timing to say something. Ji Kyung bobbed her head to the side cutely to stare back at him, and his smile instantly turned into a chuckle. Then, he finally cleared his throat and asked, “Ji Kyung, have you made up your mind?”

Neither of them needed to specifically point out about what topic they were on, but both were already on the same page. Ji Kyung gulped down a mouth of her drink, then placed the glass down slowly on the table and fixated her sincere gaze on her boyfriend who was waiting for her answer.

“About that…”

Her tone was poised, but Myungsoo still grew anxious at the suspense she was giving off. He started to fidget with his fingers, slowly inhaling and exhaling. He noticed that the smile on her face had faded into a stoic expression, and his heart skipped a beat in nervousness.

“It’s a yes.” She finally said, giggling playfully upon seeing her boyfriend getting tensed up.

Myungsoo could then release his breath in relief after hearing her words, and soon enough, his lips curled up as he took her delicate hand in his. He fished out the ring that had been lying in his pocket for the past few days, then slide it into her finger as the both smile in their brightest smile.

Congratulations.

The familiar voice of a male rang in their ears. By instinct, the two looked around to find Byunghun, only to see him leaning casually by the wall across their table. Byunghun shushed the both of them when they were about to speak something, then proceed to nod his head in assurance and fade away shortly after, leaving only a sentence in the couple’s ears.

I’m happy for you both, truthfully.

Hello guys, did anyone seem to figure out that the first scene looked familiar? *winks*
It's my subtle throwback to Goblin: The Lonely and Great God if you haven't notice yet xDD
It's my favourite drama by the way~ I'm glad I could somehow manage to insert a little shoutout here haha!
Anyways, I've been slowing down the updates because there are not much left, and also because I was busy with something else lately~
But I assure you that the story will be completed either by this week or latest next week so Stay Tuned!
