The Fourteenth Letter
Letters to Chen
Dear Chen,
"To protect whom they loved most," as you said.
Whom do I value most? My classmates? My parents? You?
I think I can scratch out the first choice, but I am not sure about some of the others.
My parents tend to misunderstand me at times.
Why I am silent, why I am not an over-achiever, why I have an odd dream.
But I guess I should still consider them important, right?
Don't worry, I consider you very, very valuable,
Yoojin.
Dear Yoojin,
From what I know about you, you are quiet because it is hard for you to open up to this distant society.
You also consider yourself average. However, that is because it is only your opinion. Your parents may be more content with your current status than they let you know.
But I cannot say much about them not understanding your dream since I don't know what you really want to do.
What is your dream, anyways? What do you hope to do in the future?
You, too, are a significant person in my life,
Chen.
