The Thirteenth Letter
Letters to Chen
Dear Chen,
Do not ask me how my teacher has a basis for grading this project because I do not have even a gist of an idea.
I also do not yet know my grade, but I do know that we should continue conversing until the end of the year.
On the topic of school, I have an interesting homework for History class.
"In your point of view, write an essay on the Japanese soldier's actions during the Second World War."
I do not know what to write. Can you help me?
Back to high school lessons!
Yoojin.
Dear Yoojin,
So I'm indebted to you for half a year more? The joy! No, really :)
Anyways, on the topic of your homework, you do know that "point of view" means "opinionated" (obviously).
So my opinion may differ from yours. Therefore, do not reprimand me if my view angers you.
I believe that most Japanese, like many soldiers, did not have any malicious intent while in combat.
In the only way possible, they simply fought to protect what or whom they valued most.
Back to high school! It's quite intersting, actually,
Chen.
