4:34PM – Music and Lyrics

You and Minwoo were in the recording studio working on the lyrics when Minwoo gets a video call from Alpha and Boyfriend.

You: We are making music.
Jeongmin: When are you coming home?
You: When we finish… I don’t know how long that will take.

Minwoo hung up and gave you a worried expression.

Where was the optimistic Jenny?

“Aye… sometimes you have to be realistic. It was possible for us to finish but it would mean minimal joking around. I usually joke around a lot when I’m in the recording studio but finishing off this song was more important so yeah… I had to choose between work and variety.”

You put your head down and laughed, “I chose work. Ah… sorry…”

The scene changes back to you and Minwoo who have finally finished writing the lyrics and began recording the song.

“For this song, Jenny is singing so please give her a lot of support,” Minwoo smiled proudly.

You are in the recording booth, preparing to sing.

Minwoo leaned over the table and pressed the button, “Okay, we are ready to go.”

We know, we jumped time but…

You have just finished the performance with Boyfriend and you quickly run off to get changed for your performance with Minwoo.

You shake your hands as the make-up artist dabs tissue paper on your forehead.

“How are you feeling like now?” the writer asked you.

“Nervous for the gazillionth time on this show,” you joked.

The scene switches to Minwoo waiting for you outside the dressing room, fixing his mic while jumping up and down.

Looking fancy in a suit, Minwoo.

You stepped out of the dressing room and Minwoo’s eyes looked at you with wide eyes.

“You look… beautiful.”

You curtsied, “Thank you but do I look like I’m ready to sing…”

You frowned as you showed your palms, “They are so sweaty right now.”

Minwoo laughed, “Whose nickname is ‘Moist’?”

The scene switches to Boyfriend and Alpha walking into the audience seats, causing fans to scream and squeal.

The two groups turned around and waved at their fans and to the surprise of fans, they were holding fan signs for you and Minwoo.

How do you feel about Jenny and Minwoo’s duet?

“We are excited for them. We’ve been monitoring them the past week and we know that they can do it,” Dong Hyun answered.

“We are so proud of them. It’s nice to see them mature more as artists.”

So Yeon put two thumbs up and smiled at the camera.

“We haven’t heard the full song but we’ve heard snippets of it and we are excited,” said Min Jung.

“JENNY UNNI JJANG! MINWOO OPPA JJANG!” Ji Hae waved the signs in the air.

“Sometimes, I just feel so lonely…” the MC, Lee Hong Ki, pouted, “Sometimes, I feel like you are getting further and further away…”

Lee Hong Ki shook his head slowly, “But it’s okay, I’m not the only one feeling this way… Here is the Alpha Boyfriend sub-unit, Our Friend!”

The fans cheered as you and Minwoo walked onto the stage.

The lights dimmed and you and you immediately put your head down.

The song ended you and Minwoo bowed to the audience. Boyfriend and Alpha stood up and waved their signs up in the air.

“Whoa… the song was so daebak!” Kwangmin clapped in awe.

“That’s our Minwoo and Jenny!” Jeongmin said to Hyunseong.

The happiness didn’t last for long as you and Minwoo are ushered off somewhere.

7:24 PM - …

The Boyfriend walking towards their dorm.

“Why are we not going home with Jenny?” Hyunseong asked.

“Maybe she’s already inside waiting for us,” Dong Hyun answered.

The boys walked into the dorm but you weren’t in the living room.

“Oh, where’s Jenny?”

The twins went off to their room to look for you but you weren’t in there and your belongings were gone.

“Hyung! Hyung!”

Everyone stood dead still in the living as they huddled around a piece of paper you left for them.

“Please watch the DVD.”

The members sat down on the floor in front of the TV and played the video.

It was the first night that you were at Boyfriend’s house and you were asked to send a message to the mysterious boy group that you were to join.

You bowed and waved at the camera, “Anneonghaseyo, I am Alpha’s leader, Jenny. Even though I have taken the place of one of your member, please look kindly upon me and treat me as one of your members. I promise there will be lots of effort being put in by me. Thank you!”

The Boyfriend members kept their eyes fixed on the TV.

The footage switches to you at the recording studio, your eyes red and teary.

“Oppas… When you see this it’s been 29 days that I have been a part of the fantastic boy group, Boyfriend.”

You looked up and then back at the camera, “I never knew that being in put in a boy group would make me such a cry baby…”

You laughed.

The boys couldn’t help but laugh along with you.

“Thank you for being so supportive of me and making me comfortable during my stay. You have really taught me a lot of things and I feel like...”

You started to cry.

“Jenny ah, don’t cry,” Jeongmin spoke out to the TV.

“She’s always crying. What are we going to do with her?” Youngmin choked up a bit.

“I really felt like I was given five really great brothers…” you cried.

“Ahh… I can’t do this…” Dong Hyun wiped his tears.

“I really hope that we can meet again during our promotions,” you smiled weakly, “Please don’t walk past me like a stranger.”

You put on a brave face as you bowed and saluted, “This is Boyfriend’s jokester maknae, Jenny… signing out for the last time.”

The footage ended, leaving the Boyfriend members silently crying.

“Argh, there are so many things I want to say to her!” Kwangmin vented.

7 PM - …

The sombre mood seems to have been present in the Alpha dorm as well as the members sat on the couch, watching Minwoo’s video left for them.

“I don’t think I can go through this without crying…” So Yeon wept, “Look at me, I am already like this!”

Minwoo is smiling brightly at the camera.

“Hello, fellow Alpha members, this is your leader, Noh Minwoo. It’s been a long and enjoyable road to where we are right now, hasn’t it?”

 Minwoo stared at the ground for a while before continuing, “Thank you for always believing in me and I really can’t thank you all enough. This is an experience that I will never forget and I promise to never underestimate a girl group or any group ever again.”

The Alpha members laughed as they dabbed their eyes.

“Like how I came into your life unexpectedly, it’s time for me to make my unexpected leave.”

Rather than holding back, everyone is crying as they watch Minwoo’s video message.

“The past month, it has been a growing experience for me and I hope that we can always me friends. Just because the show ends, it doesn’t mean our relationship has to. I will support Alpha as much as Alpha has supported me.”

Minwoo bowed and looked into the camera with sad eyes.

“My last order as Alpha’s leader, don’t cry! If this episode airs and you cry…” Minwoo trailed off.

He shook his head, “Anyways, I’ll be giving you back to Jenny. Don’t seem too upset when she comes back.”

Minwoo laughed as he waved to the camera, “Bye!”

Ji Hae leaned against the table, “I promised myself that I wouldn’t cry…”

So Yeon covered her face, “Ah… I didn’t wear waterproof mascara!”

“This is not the reality that I wanted!” Sammy kicked her feet around.

The scene fades to black.

It’s not about the gender, it’s not about the company, it’s about the teamwork within these groups that make them succeed as idols. Life is hard but it’s only us who decide to let it affect us.
