Broken Hearts
Pieces of My HeartWhen I found Krystal she was sleeping alone on a park bench. I could see the tears dried on her face as I sat down quietly next to her feet. I was afraid to wake her up for fear of her remembering her hurt. At least when she was asleep she wouldn't feel it. I waited like this for a half hour before I finally woke her for fear of freezing to death.
"Hey, I heard what happened.." I said gently. She immediately began to cry and laid her head on my lap, not answering. I saw something clutched in her hand.
"Krystal what's that?" I asked pulling her fist toward me. She violently ripped her hand away and threw whatever it was across the park into the darkness.
"I don't want to look at it." she sobbbed.
"Let's get you home, ok?" I helped her up and began to walk her to my car. She quickly fell back asleep once in my passenger seat. I began to drive her home. Once at her house I helped her up to her room and into her bed. On the way out, I locked her door. Once to my car, I tried to decide what to do. My phone suddenly buzzed with a message from Hyosung asking if I wanted to hang out. I answered her and headed to her house.
"Hey girl." she greeted when I entered her room.
"Hey."
"So how was Krystal's thingy with Junhyung? She never answered my text."
"They broke up." I sighed.
"I knew it." Hyosung smirked evilly. "I never liked him. You know, you guys should listen to me more often. I know men. I can tell you who deserves you and who doesn't. I also know ho you do and don't deserve. Go head, appeal to my knowledge."
"I'm not in the mood for this Hyosung." I flopped down onto her bed.
"I am. But whatever. We never talk about what I want. Wanna hear some good news?"
"Sure.. Lets hear it."
"David and I are official.." She winked at me. "Do you think it's too soon to rub it in Krystal's face?"
"Yes. Hyosung, come on. If you are going to keep being like this I'm going to go home. I am happy for you and all, but I am not happy about what Junhyung did to Krystal."
"God, you'd think you were the one broken up with."
"She's my friend, I hurt for her."
"You don't hurt for me." Hyosung whined.
"I do too Hyosung and you know it" I swear she was being like this just because the focus wasn't on her.
"I'm sorry." Finally Hyosung was going to stop being so moody. When she appologized were some of the moments I cherished in our friendship. She very rarely appologized, only when she knew I was at the end of my rope. It wasn't the appology I was after, but what followed. Hyosung would spend the rest of the evening being the friend I needed at that moment. Her generosity and vulnerablity didn't show for anyone. I was the only one who recieved this special treatment. "Will you stay here tonight? We can paint our nails and watch a movie.
" Hyosung asked nervously, even though she knew I would accept. I always did.
"Of course." I gave her a small smile as she jumped up off the bed to get her nail polish.
