*All the lessons will be romanized until I edit the chapters.  My computer just got reset so I don't have the Korean keyboard yet.

My friends had a big argument over the meaning of "본다".*sigh* People who don't know what their talking about.

The source of the discussion? B1A4's 걸어 본다 (Tried to Walk).

There's a line in the song that says, "걸어 본다, 본다 (Gul-uh bon-da, bon-da~)"Being a song (therefore a poem) it can have more than one meaning. 

NOTE: Korean is a whole new different language and the grammer rules are different too.  While learning korean PLEASE don't get mixed up because of the Grammer differences.

본다 means seeing. But it can mean trying. This is where it gets confusing.

The seeing 본다 is as close as it can get to a verb.  But not exactly...

내가 너를 본다 (Nae-gah nuh-lul bon-da). 내 (I) - 가 (am) 너 (you) - 를(makes you an object) 본다 (seeing).  I am seeing (looking at) you. 

The trying bonda cannot stand on its own.  There always has to be some type of verb before the trying bonda. I guess you could call it a supporting verb? Even if you say you are trying. You are trying to DO something, so do will be the verb and trying will support the doing (REMEMBER THIS IS KOREAN! ENGLISH RULES ARE INVALID). 

걸어 본다. 걸어 (walk) 본다 (try). Try to walk. 

Tried to walk? Hum… It sounds familiar…
