Prologue;

Baekhyun always had a habit of sitting in the corn fields when the days at school got just too much for him. It was a way to clear his head, he told most people who cared, which was seldom few. But only he knew that was not the case.

It was the first and last place he met Zhang Yixing. Yixing was the fresh faced boy who had cascaded into his life just as quick as he left, leaving Baekhyun with a broken heart and shattered dreams. All the days he imagined spending with Yixing would only ever be a figure of his imagination, almost real enough to see, to touch, but never quiet enough. Never enough for the smile to re-appear on Baekhyuns face like it used too.

For Baekhyun was a lonely boy, his books and the birds being his only source of comfort for the times he needed it. His mother was a paranoid schizophrenic who kept trying to make it as a landscape painter, while trying to fight her daily battle between living and dying, his father was buried in the local graveyard after a tragic accident involving the villages’ stone well, and his little sister ran away in fear of catching the Byun’s disease – death. Baekhyun was the only sane one left.

But he feared that his time was coming. For he thought he was going to die from his broken heart, which counting all the factors seemed logical for the poor, poor boy.

If only Yixing had given him a chance to explain.
