Mixed Drinks and Emotions
Hyoyeon swallowed hard at the sight of the karaoke machine. The big metallic object, all set up and ready to go, was the first thing she saw when she walked into the bar the next night. She felt incredibly guilty over forcing Eunhyuk into singing, but she didn't quite have the nerve to get up and sing in front of everyone. Hyoyeon had always considered herself as more of a dancer than a singer, and as of lately, she didn't even seem to have the nerve to really dance in front of others.
She was relieved to find that Eunhyuk hadn't arrived yet. Although he didn't seem very angry or upset the day before, she believed there was a possibility that he would hold a grudge after all this.
But then Hyoyeon began to question all her worrying; why should she care if he held a grudge- it wasnt like they were friends or anything... Although.. he did help her out the other day when she was drenched by the rain. But any civilized person would've done the same thing, right?
Hyoyeon was so consumed in her thoughts that she didn't notice the door swing open. When she did look up she found herself staring at Eunhyuk who was making his way to the employees only room. The two briefly made eye contact before Hyo self-consciously looked away; busying herself with some pointless task at the bar. He closed the door to get changed and she stopped, slumping her shoulders dejectedly.
He was angry, she was sure of it.
On the other side of the room, Tiffany, Sooyoung and Jessica watched the blonde curiously as she moped by the bar. They gave eachother knowing looks and Tiffany stifled an amused giggle. "Our naive little Hyoyeon~~" Sooyoung cooed.
Eunhyuk reemerged, gaining the trio's full attention as they watched very intently.
Hyoyeon jumped at the sound of the door reopening and frantically began wiping the bar. She could practically feel his body heat with how close he was standing next to her but she focused all her attention on her cleaning.
"Hey, don't forget. You owe me one after this." he said briskly
If she would've looked up at him, she would've seen a small grin lingering at his lips, but she didn't and therefore she was sure his briefness was due to irritation rather than mild amusement.
She cleared giving a quick nod.
The three onlookers couldn't hear what was said, but the Hyoyeon's behavior was obvious enough for them to know it wasn't going well on her end.
Jessica sighed "What are we gonna do with this girl?"
Opening time came and a good amount of customers flooded the bar. Word of a karaoke night at Tigress Bar and Grill, ( A rumor most likely started by the Boss who spent much of his time socializing at various places throughout the city in the morning), had spread throughout the day, producing a nice increase in customers that night.
The Boss himself had even decided to stop by and supervise that night, most likely to see if his idea was successful. Or maybe he just enjoyed karaoke. The Boss was actually pretty weird and kinda mysterious.
Hyoyeon eyed the machine begrudgingly. Eunhyuk would have to make his "debut" soon. She couldn't help but feel nervous for him.
"It's not a big deal."
Hyo turned to the familiar voice and Jessica smiled. "Calm down."
She knew it shouldnt be a big deal, but again, she wasn't sure what to expect from Eunhyuk. What if he did bad or embarassed himself and ended up blaming her.
Needless to say, Hyoyeon was overthinking the situation.
It was time. Eunhyuk slowly made his way to the machine. Hyoyeon watched closely.
He picked up the mic and tapped it twice, testing to see if it was working. Everyone's attention was soon on him.
"Hello everbody, welcome to Tigress Bar and Grill. As you've noticed, today's a special night. So we'd like for you all to relax, have a good time and enjoy yourselves tonight."
Everyone began to clap and cheered as Eunhyuk turned to pick a song.
Hyoyeon was feeling hopeful. He didnt seem upset, or even nervous. In fact, he was really natural and smiled throughout the course of his little intro.
The music began to play abruptly. The Customers cheered and Hyoyeon held her breath.
She recognized the beat immediately- Rainism by Rain Bi ( if you dont know the song, look it up xD )
The girl finally exhaled and watched in amazement.
It wasn't so much his singing that stood out, but his charisma. The boy had amazing stage presence. It didn't take long before she was humming the addictive tune, her head bobbing along to the beat.
As Eunhyuk sang the lines, "Im gonna be a bad boy. I'm gonna be a bad bad boy." she found herself smiling. It was funny to think only recently she had him pinned as this really horrible, jerk of a guy. Now, watching him sing in front of everyone, he just seemed goofy, charming and utterly harmless.
"It's Time to Get Down"
The dance break portion came, and Eunhyuk surprised everyone by first looseningng his bow tie. He then unbottoned the three top buttons of his shirt, causing most of the women in the bar to squeal in delight. Hyoyeon could've sworn she heard Tiffany among them.
Eunhyuk suddenly looked over at Hyoyeon. Her smile faded and a questioning look took its place. He responded with a sly smile and a y wink.
Hyoyeon took only a second to process his ridiculous behavior before she exploded into laughter. She responded by lifting her hands in the air and cheering loudly along with the audience.
"Wooh! Go Eunhyuk!!"she shouted enthusiastically. She watched the rest of his performance with a large smile glued to her face, occassionally cheering or laughing as well.
When he finished, the audience appluaded loudly and he gave an exagerated bow before handing the mic off to an eager-to-sing customer and making his way back to the bar.
Hyoyeon greeted him with a small round of applause. He grinned.
"What did you think. I was just like Rain wasn't I?"
Hyoyeon lifted her hand to as was her habbit when she laughed heartily and lightly slapped his arm.
Why had she been so worried? She should've realized this cheeky guy would be good at this sort of thing.
As the two of them chatted, SicSooFany watched from afar, eyeing the two like hawks hounding their prey. The three girls exchanged very satisfied and slightly mischevious smiles.
The rest of the night seemed to fly by. Hyoyeon actually enjoyed the singing, especially the ones sung by the more inebriated of customers as they were quite comical. Towards the end of the night, Sooyoung and Tiffany finally got a chance to try the karaoke. The two girls chose to sing "I'm a Guy Like This" by DJ DOC.
Hyoyeon was enjoying their performance from behind the bar, dancing a little bit and singing along. Suddenly, she felt a light nudge to her side.
"Why don't you go up too?" She looked over to see Eunhyuk with that same sly smile. She had begun to protest when he placed his hand on her shoulder and added, "If I had to do it, you do too. You didn't think I'd let you off that easy, did you?"
Hyoyeon recalled how guilty she had felt earlier and how he really did do her a favor.
She scanned the room and felt a more brave now that many of the customers had left. Plus, she might not consider herself a singer, but she didn't think she was a bad rappper. So, after slight hesitation, she made her way over to the waitresses who gladly welcomed her into their medley. Hyoyeon rapped most of the second half of the song, and when the little bit of audience that remained began to praise them by clapping and shouting, Jessica included, she began to dance a little, doing some silly dance moves with Tiffany while Sooyoung led the rap. This time, Eunhyuk was the one rooting for her and in place of his sly smile was a cute, gummy one.
The night came to end pretty quickly, and although they were rather exhauseted, everyone seemed to be in high spirits.The boss was very satisfied by the results of the karaoke night.
As they finished cleaning, Hyoyeon walked up to Jessica "You ready to go Sica?"
"Oh! Actually, Tiffany and Sooyoung are gonna walk with me tonight!" Sica responded cheerfully
"Okay, then I'll go with you guys-"
"No no! It's okay! My house is out of the way for you anyway."
Hyoyeon was going to protest again but Sooyoung and Tiffany walked up and quickly said their goodbyes before practically running out the door.
How weird Hyoyeon thought as she watched the girls retreat down the street.
Sighing, she grabbed her bag and left the bar.
Hyoyeon was just beginning her walk home when that vespa she'd come to know all too well pulled up beside her.
"Care for a ride Miss?"
Hyoyeon turned to Eunhyuk and arched her eyebrow. She tried to seem very nonchalant but a small smile was tugging at the corner of .
"Well... I mean, If you insist." She said with mock exasperation.He chuckled and tossed her the other helmet. She strapped it on and hopped on the back his vespa. Hyoyeon wouldn't say it but she was actually really grateful for the ride.
"Just do me a favor Eunhyuk,"
"Hmm?"
"Drive like a sane person. I'd like to make it home in one piece" She added sarcastically while placing her hands on his waist.
"Okay, but in return, do me a favor and don't forget to hold on tight" he retorted and grasped her hands with his own before pulling them around his waist like some sort of makeshift seatbelt. Still not quite accusotm to the close proximity, her heart began to race ever so slightly.
As they began to drive back Hyoyeon replayed that night's events, particulary Eunhyuk's performance. She snickered into his back.
"Hey, what's so funny Hyoyeon?"
"Nothing.. It's just... You were really into your performance tonight." She laughed again.
"Are you mocking me?..Yah, you can't deny that I was good!" He said, acting offended by her laughter.
"Haha, yeah yeah! All the ahjummas were going wild~!" She teased.
They continued with this banter unitl they arrived at her appartment complex.
"Thank you~" She handed the helmet back to him.
"You're welcome. I hope to see you at my next show. I'll get you special VIP tickets"
She laughed and said goodnight before turning to walk to the door.
it was weird. When did they start getting along so well? Didn't she hate him? Then again, did she ever really hate him? It seemed more like a silly grudge that started only a few days ago now.
Just as she got to the front door she spun around.
"Hyukjae!"
He was about to scold her for using the name but she interrupted.
"I guess we're kinda friends now aren't we?" She said with an impish smile, her head tipping to the side slightly.
He laughed and looked at her for a second, as if trying to figure out the mysery that was Kim Hyoyeon. "I guess we are."
Hyoyeon gave him an "OK" sign before turning and heading in. Her hands were shoved in her pockets and she was humming Rainism
Eunhyuk watched until she was out of sight. He was really happy for the development, but a part of him couldn't help but feel like he'd just been friend-zoned..
Hi Everyone and Happy Soshi Comeback! And Happy New year! What better way to start off the Year than with another installment of Hyohyuk, no? Well, to make up for my slow updates, I did 3 pics and wrote a pretty long chapter.
For the record, I think Hyoyeon is a FABULOUS singer. (Anyone catch YulHyoHenry performance at Romantic Fantasy?! IF you haven't you must.) Yeah, well, for the story's sake I made her just a tad bit timid about singing. But Hyoyeon Herself has said that sometimes she gets awkward in front of cameras and stuff, so it's believable. Right...? Aughh, Its getting so hard to draw/color the hair since they're always changing it these daysdsfsgsdg. I also had a hard time picking songs for them to sing, so I picked some older songs that weren't suju or soshi just to make the story more believeable yaknow. I also remember one time when the Girls were at Sukira, someone mentioned how Leeteuk sang AND danced to Rainism, so I could definitely see Eunhyuk doing it as well.
