I looked up at him and saw his hurt eyes. Those eyes were a mess… but a beauty all in one. They showed the feelings of both he and I. I dare not look away, but study his features to see what was being felt. His eyes grew watery and shined in a dark hurt manner. By the look and feel all around him, he was hurt… lost… dazed at the sound of my words.

“We have to break up.”

And the world stood still.

Why would I say that? Why would I feel that? Why would I leave him… why would I stay when I know that we’ll go right back to hurting each other?

A year with each other by our sides… A year, we had, together. We laughed, smiled, cried, hurt, and loved… all together. Things went wrong when the small things started becoming rough. The strong, hopeful shine in his eyes died a little bit more inside every time a hurtful word left our mouths about the other in a hard time.

Why would I stand for that? I know… we were in love… we were happily in love, holding onto each other, supporting each other…  as well, we were hurting and destroy each other little by little. Kai… he’s the love of my life… was for all the time we knew each other… and yet I see how bad we are for each other… how badly we’re hurting each other… and how he seems to die a little more and more every day with me.

I cupped his cheek, rubbing my thumb gently across it. I saw his hurt eyes flutter shut, with his voice shaking in a whimper. He leaned closer to my hand, with his lip bitten to hold in a whimper. He was strong still… he was able to hold himself from breaking down… I knew that it would change if I didn’t leave.

“You need to meet a better girl. A girl who is way better than me… It’ll just be a moment and you’ll forget me... It will become better than now.”
