“And spin,” a deep voice bellowed the instruction out. The man the voice belonged to sat comfortably in a very prestigious and regal looking chair, arms carelessly thrown on the armrests. His eyes were trained intensely on me as I stood in the middle of the room, over the Persian rug wearing a rather expensive dress. I offered my acquiescence, following his orders by gripping tightly onto skirt part of the dress and spun around. As my turn ended, I swiped my right leg over my left and bowed slightly.

            “Was that good, sir?” I politely tried to inquire while facing the man in front of me. His lips curved up into a smirk as he stood up from his royal seat. As he walked over to me, his hands quickly adjusted the jacket on his suit.

            “I think you are ready, daughter,” he proudly announced which was quickly followed by the applause of the maids.

            “Madam, it is time to wake up!” I heard a voice call from the other side of my door. My eyelids fluttered open before blinking a few times to help me adjust to the light.

            “Thank you,” I finally exclaimed, allowing the service girl to leave to the next room. Slowly and groggily, my legs swung out from under the covers. The time showed that I had an hour to get ready and go to the dining hall to eat breakfast. Every morning, I need quite a bit of that time just to clean up. My hand reached out to the side and picked up my neatly folded uniform on the dresser as I made my way to the bathroom.

            I twisted the knob on the shower to the correct temperature setting and stripped off my pink silk sleeping gown. My eyes trailed down my unusually thin body, lingering longer on my slender legs and feminine hips. In particular, I could help but stare at my flat chest. When the bathroom was suddenly filled with steam, I was snapped out of my trance. I stepped under the artificial rain and let the hot water to pound against my skin. Instinctively, I grabbed the light blue razor and can of shaving cream.

            And thus, I began the mutilation of my body to fit the ideals of beauty towards women. From my armpits to my legs, I shaved every centimeter of skin, ridding it of any fragment of hair. Once I was pleased, I tossed aside the equipment and moved onto my tweezers. Using the mirror suction-cupped to the wall, I plucked roughly at my eyebrows. Individually grabbing each hair and pulling them off, I shaped my eyebrows into a more feminine and neat look. The rest of my shower consisted of me lathering my body and hair with flower scented cleansing agents.

            I grabbed the fluffy pink towel on the rack and carefully patted myself dry. Throwing my towel aside, I pulled on my undergarments. I bunched up a few tissues before stuffing it into my bra. Once I was satisfied, I slipped on my white button-up shirt and tucked it neatly into my navy blue pleated skirt. As I exited the bathroom, I slipped on my navy blue jacket.

            “Madam, this is your second call,” another service girl announced before leaving. Now I have thirty minutes before my first class. Once my jacket was nicely buttoned up until three buttons to the top, I shoved my legs into my knee high socks. I neatly tied my red ribbon into a bow around my neck as I stuffed my clothed feet into the brown boots the girls are assigned to wear. My fingers ran through my hair, combing and sorting out the mess. I exhaled sharply before exiting out of my dorm room and into the busy hallway.
