Don't Cry My Lover
"Aunt Hayounggggg!"
Hayoung opened one eye, and immediately closed it again as the strong, intense sunlight forced it close. She was planning to sleep all the way until noon if she could, but Daesoo had, unfortunately, ruined her plans once again.
"Aunt Hayoung! I'm hungry!"
He's starting to sound more and more like a spoilt kid.
"I want to sleep," she pulled the blanket over her face, and tried to block him out, to no avail. Daesoo kept tugging at the edges of the blanket, and eventually Hayoung was so annoyed that she got up and scowled a little.
"I want pancakes!"
"Dae-"
"With chocolate milk!"
"I give up!" Hayoung got up of bed, and stomped to the kitchen to wash up before making breakfast for Daesoo. She grumbled inwardly while brushing her teeth, wishing that her sister would hopefully be back soon, or she would go crazy. She half-understood why Daesoo was left behind, and that thought made her felt slightly guilty that she was starting to find Daesoo a burden.
"Aunt Hayoung, your phone is ringing!"
With half-opened eyes, Hayoung picked up her phone and stared suspiciously at the number. It was an unknown caller, and she had no intention of wasting call time on people doing market surveys. However, some gut instinct told her that it was important, and she answered the call apprehensively.
"Hello?"
"Hey. Kris here."
Kris?
"I'm sorry but I don't know-"
"The guy at the toy shop."
Hayoung heard the guy sigh slightly over the phone, and when she finally realized who he was, she mentally facepalmed herself.
"Oh my goodness I'm so sorry I forgot who you were I thought you forgot about me too is it anything important?" Hayoung blurted everything out at one go, and Kris couldn't help but smirk at the other end.
"Didn't you say that you were looking for a job?"
"Yeah. I still haven't found one."
"I've found you one."
"Oh-what?!"
Hayoung gripped her phone tightly, and hardly daring to breathe.
Is this real? I finally found a job? Is he trolling me?
"Come down later this afternoon if you're interested."
YES!
Hayoung breathed a silent prayer of thanks, and even flashed a huge toothy grin at Daesoo, who was looking at her curiously, not quite knowing what was going on, or what was worth being happy over when he was hungry.
"No word of thanks?" Kris' deep voice had a slight tinge of disappointment, and Hayoung had to calm all that excitement down before thanking him.
"You have no idea how thankful I am. Thanks to you, we might not starve anymore!"
"Wait, you guys were starving?"
"Literally."
And as if just on cue, Daesoo started yelling for pancakes again, and Hayoung pinched her eyebrows together while Kris chuckled over the phone.
"Could tell. Anyway, remember to come down this afternoon."
"You haven't told me what job-"
"You'll know when you come down."
"Wait-"
The line went dead, and Hayoung looked at her phone in disbelief.
Did he just hang up on me like that? Honestly?
However, she was too grateful to him to call back and give him a lecture on manners, and couldn't help but smile at her phone.
"Aunt Hayoung~"
"Coming! I'll make your favourite pancakes! Drizzled with maple syrup and a cube of butter! Oh and chocolate milk to top them all off!" She had never been in a happier mood, and ruffled Daesoo's hair before walking to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
All is well. For now.
