Chapter 3
HenMi - Sunny Day“Erm… so… Cho Kyuhyun is your ex?”
He shrugged.
“Yeah, Kui Xian is my ex. But we left each other without making a fuss about it. We didn’t love each other anymore.”
I wanted to slap myself, but I couldn’t do this in front of him so I did it mentally only. Of course Kyu wanted to match me with this guy… He knew him. He knew him and he knew that guy’s personality. And maybe that guy’s money too.
“And… do you… erm…?”
“Still like him? Nah, I don’t even talk to him anymore. I don’t hate him, but we’re not really even friends anymore.”
I nodded softly without knowing why I was nodding exactly.
“Okay…”
Awkward silence. I promised myself I would have to punch Kyuhyun in the face the next time I would see him. How could he let me alone with a guy I didn’t know? Plus, this guy was his ex! Why did he want to match me with his ex?
“Henry?”
I blinked.
“Zhou Mi?”
“Does it bother you that Kui Xian is my ex?”
“The only thing bothering me is that he’s playing matchmaker with a guy he once loved… I don’t know, it just… doesn’t feel right.”
He smiled softly but shrugged.
“Well, he did like me a lot and I did like him a lot. But we weren’t meant for each other, and I think both of us knew it even when we started this relationship. It took months before we could trust each other.”
“What about me?”
I put both of my hands on my mouth. Stupid! Why did you even ask? This is not about you…
Mi seemed surprised, but he still smiled brightly.
“Well, I never bring people I don’t trust home.”
“I may seem stupid, but… does this mean that you trust me?”
He laughed and hugged me tightly.
“Of course it does! And you’re not stupid. Nobody is.”
“Nobody?”
“People just have different types of intelligence. So, nobody’s stupid.”
He was so cool. Being able to say these words was a thing, but really meaning them was another thing. I looked at him with admiration and he laughed again, his bright smile just making the days sunnier.
“You’re so cute, Henry! Hey, shall we go and walk around like we said we would do? Today is a beautiful day, it would be a waste to stay inside.”
“Your smile is more beautiful than the weather outside.”
I put my hands on my mouth again. I had said weird things… again! But… Zhou Mi wasn’t a person who would be very shy about this. He smiled and hugged me tight.
“You’re so nice! Thanks a lot! Then, for you, I’ll smile more! Okay?”
I couldn’t help but laugh softly.
“Smile more? You’re already smiling a lot! Your jaws will be painful.”
“Not if I smile for you.”
I blushed. This guy… just how could he be so sweet and look so innocent while saying things like this? He was so… well, sweet! I wasn’t able to say stuff like this… and when I said them, it was either because I thought before saying them, or because my mouth said it before my brain could approve of it. He didn’t seem like he had to think about it before saying it, and it was obvious that his mind approved of what he said…
“Zhou Mi-ah, how can you be so sweet?”
“Henry-ah, how can you be so adorably cute?”
I pouted because he had replied something sweet again and he laughed. Maybe Kyu knew I would get along very well with Zhou Mi. Maybe I wouldn’t punch him in the face after all…
