Living Hell [HIATUS]

This takes place about two weeks after the last chapter

-----

“What about that girl?” Minwoo whispered kind of loudly next to my ear as we moved slowly through the hallway. I looked down to see his hand against his chest, index finger pointing quite obviously to a girl on our left.

“Nah, she looks too timid,” I shrugged after shaking my head. Soon after, I nonchalantly glanced at the clock to see we had a few minutes before our first class. Minwoo and I leaned against the lockers as the people around us were walking past or gathered in their cliques, chatting and gossiping idly.

“Hey, that girl looks interested in you,” Minwoo nudged me while motioning his head to a group of girls. I glanced over from the corner of my eye. My eyes widened when I caught sight of a girl, staring with big eyes and a creepy smile.

“Oh god no,” I cried, shaking my head repeatedly to Minwoo.

“Why not? She looked like she really likes you.”

“I could see the crazy in her eyes,” I explained, shivering as I did. “If you get her, I will kill you.”

“Come on, she didn’t look that ba- oh god, what was I thinking?!” he tried to convince me, but ended up freaking out himself when he took another glance over. I couldn’t help but laugh, and he quickly joined in. We glanced over every now and then to the girl, but it only fueled our laughter even more. In the end, we probably looked like maniacs with our fists pounding against the lockers and our teeth showing as we smiled through the giggles. The girl’s freaky smile eventually died down as her friends tried to cheer her up. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea to laugh crazily while glancing at her.

“We should probably be getting to class,” I finally managed to say after calming myself slightly. Minwoo took a quick look towards the clock before nodding in agreement. We dashed to our classroom, barely making it in time. Our teacher gave us a slight glare which easily gave me discomfort. I just meekly made my way to my seat and sat with my head low. Minwoo, however, proudly pranced to his seat, being as flamboyant as he could. This of course earned a deeper glare from our teacher.

“Rebels,” Yuri teasingly whispered to me as I passed by her. It left me a little less uncomfortable, and I chuckled softly at it. As class dragged on, I mostly thought of what Minwoo had told me the other day.

‘You seriously don’t know any of the girls?’ Minwoo scoffed in disbelief.

‘I don’t know anybody except for you, Yuri and Kwangmin really,” I explained as I awkwardly rubbed the back of my neck. Minwoo slouched further in my couch as he covered his face with his hands.

‘We are screwed!’ he cried as he made noises that you’d most likely hear from a crying puppy. I patted the top of his head to sooth his stressed self.

‘It’ll be okay,” I tried to reassure him. “It’s not like I at talking to people. If I just see that I can get along with that person, everything will go swimmingly.’

‘Good. Keep that attitude in mind because I want you to look around during class to see who you could get along with,” he suddenly snapped into serious mode within seconds as he instructed me.

‘Look around,’ I thought to myself as a reminder. I observed people’s action as the teacher lectured away. I tried to focus on what girls did, and typically avoided the guys. Seeing as this was one of the first times, I’ve opened myself to people beyond my friends, I felt weird. Even if I was talking to them, it was… strange to look deeply at people who I didn’t normally focus on. It was almost like I was seeing the world differently. Most of the girls didn’t act like how Yuri did in class, usually just sat around, flipping her pencil between her fingers. Some sneakily glanced around, their lips at the sight of a guy they liked. Others stared intently at the board, hands scrambling to get all the notes down.

‘How the heck am I supposed to know if a girl and I could be compatible from just how they work in class?’ I internally whined as I let out a small sigh. I took a look to my left only to make eye contact with Minwoo. He kind of mouthed out something that was totally incoherent. When I sent him a shrug, he gave me a tempered expression and began mouthing more furiously. Surprisingly enough, I was actually able to get a few words this time like ‘look’ and ‘girls’. I shaped my lips to show that I understood and nodded. He gave me an eager look before turning back to the board, just in case our teacher turned around.

In all honesty, I was ready to give up. However, whenever I looked back to Minwoo, he gave me quick glances that basically said death if I quit. Letting out a sigh, I began to fidget in my seat. I was bouncing my feet on the balls, knees jumping up and down. My index fingers lightly drummed against the side of my desk, but even with that, I could still hear the sound of a pencil breaking behind me. Soon after, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

“Hey, Youngmin,” the person behind me whispered. I slowly looked over my shoulder to be face to face with somebody that I, of course, never really noticed. Somehow though, I found myself wishing that I did. The girl had such a sweet smile and shining eyes. Her hand held up her broken pencil so I could see it.

“Y-yes?” I ended up stuttering. I cursed myself mentally for acting so nervous, but her cuteness was so overwhelming.

“May I borrow a pencil, p-please?” she kindly and politely asked before waving her broken pencil for emphasis. I chuckled lowly at her actions and turned back around to my desk. Without thinking, I just grabbed the pencil I had laid out and handed it to her. Her small sweet smile widened, showing off her pearly whites. It radiated with happiness as she reached her hand forward. Her fingers lightly grazed against mine before she took hold of the pencil.

“Thank you,” she whispered softly before slowly sliding the writing utensil out of my grasp. I stupidly nodded, dumbstruck from her smile. Her gaze went from my fingers to my face, lingering slightly before it fell to her notebook. I saw that her cheeks were slightly flushed, and I couldn’t help but feel happy from that. However, the pang in my heart when I turned back around to see Yuri in front of me made me rethink that feeling.

The bell eventually rang, and our teacher dismissed us. The girl, whose name I still had yet to find out, bowed slightly in front of my desk, handed me back my pencil and skipped out of the classroom. While I stayed in my seat, completely baffled, Minwoo came over to me. I really didn’t realize he was there until he flicked my forehead.

“Yah!” I cried as I abruptly stood up from my seat.

“What are you so dazed about?” he questioned with an eyebrow raised. Suddenly, his demeanor changed as he got really anxious and excited. “Oh, so did you see anybody?”

“Actually-“ I turned to the door, but remembered that the girl already left.

“You did? Wow, in all honesty, I didn’t think you’d actually listen to my instructions much less find a girl,” he rambled on and on, but I wasn’t paying much attention. In fact, I grabbed my stuff and bolted out the door.  I looked anxiously around the hallway, but couldn’t seem to find the girl. Sighing, I realized that I never even got her name.

“Hey!” Minwoo yelled as he ran up to me. He slapped his hand onto my shoulder as he gasped for air. “D-don’t just run off!”

“Sorry,” I grumbled while looking at the ground. Why was I so anxious to see that girl?

“Anyways, well, I’ve rounded up a few girls. You think six is enough for you to choose from?” Minwoo eyed me skeptically but still changed the subject. I merely nodded before walking lazily to the cafeteria. Just as we made it to our table, I felt my phone vibrate.

From Taemin:

Heyy

Minwoo, who was looking over my shoulder, and I stared blankly at the phone screen. Kwangmin was just sitting in front of us, confused by the whole situation. I glanced up at Yuri who was simply just eating her food, not paying much attention to us.

“Hey, is your boyfriend texting you right now?” I called to her, snapping her out of her food trance. When she shook her head, I gave Minwoo an even more confused look. Shrugging it off, I decided to ignore it. I went to the lunch line and waited patiently for my turn. The lunch ladies placed the plated food onto a table, and I quickly grabbed one before placing it on my tray. I handed the other lady at the cash register my money before walking off. My phone vibrated again in my pocket, but I chose to ignore it until I sat down.

From Taemin:

Youngmin?

Deciding that I shouldn’t leave him hanging, I began to swiftly type my message. However, just as I was about to hit send, Taemin sent me another message.

From Taemin:

Am I being a bother?

I could practically imagine him beside me, saying that message in a small, solemn voice as he kept his eyes on his knees. I suddenly remembered how excited he was when I said we were friends, and how he told me that he wasn’t good at making friends.

To Taemin:

I was busy, sorry! ^^;; What’s up?

I hunched my shoulders as I ate my lunch lazily. Minwoo and Kwangmin were in an intense yet humorous conversation while Yuri sat on the sidelines, laughing. Throughout lunch, they chatted together, completely indulged in each other’s presence. I occasionally joined in, but was always stopped when Taemin texted me. By the end, we were all walking off in our separate directions, but Yuri suddenly pulled me aside.

“Hey, are you busy later?” she smiled after asking. When I shook my head, her smile widened. “Come over?”

“Why?” I laughed at her eagerness.

“The first episode of that show Taemin is in will be airing tonight,” she explained before dancing in excitement. People began to look at us weirdly, and I quickly held her shoulders to keep her from shaking.

“I’ll come,” I assured her, giving a smile to double the impact.

“It starts at seven!” she exclaimed before skipping off to her own class. Sighing, I turned to walk to my own, only to crash right into somebody. Luckily for me, I was able to steady myself before falling over. However, based on the squeal the other person made, they obviously weren’t as lucky.

“I’m sorry,” I bent down in front of the girl who was sitting on her and leaning her weight into her palms. While I was picking up her stuff, she just continued to stay in her spot.

“It’s okay, Youngmin,” she reassured me with a sweet voice. When she said my name, I immediately turned to face her. I was utterly shocked to see it was the girl from earlier.

“It’s you!” I accidently yelled at her. Soon after, I slapped my freehand over my mouth which seemed to elicit a laugh from her.

“Glad you are excited to see me,” she smiled before reaching her arms out. She gestured with her hands to give her her things, and I immediately obliged. When she made a move to stand, I quickly got up and offered her a hand. She gladly took it, snuggling her soft small hand into mine. I carefully squeezed it before pulling her up to her feet. Even once she was standing, however, we never let go of each other’s hand. We just stared into each other’s eyes, not knowing what else to do or say. It wasn’t until the bell rang again that we separated.

“Oh, gosh, I got to get to class,” she spluttered, looking around the now empty hallway. I was shocked to see that time flew so quickly, and that we were now both late. She began to walk backwards, that way she would still be facing me.

“I’ll see you around?” I asked hopefully. She gave me a smile and a nod before turning around and running off properly.

“Bye Youngmin!” she called as she turned and disappeared.

“Bye-“ I started to whisper, but then stopped myself when I realized something. “Ugh, I forgot to ask for her name again!”

Author’s Note: … I’m so stuck. This chapter was so… T_T I’m so sorry! Anyways, I thought I’d add some girl to throw everybody off their seats. She’ll probably end up being his fake girlfriend, but her identity is still a mystery to me. I don’t know A Pink too well, and the Sistar unnies are a lot older than Youngminnie. Hmm… I might just make her an OC or something. Well, we’ll see. :) I hope it wasn’t… too horrible. The drama is coming in sooner or later. :P Oh, before I go, would you guys do me a huge favor and answer this poll? Haha, I’m curious if from just a few appearances, would you rather Youngmin end up with that new girl instead of Yuri? Mmm, until next time! :) I might take a while to update since I’m going to the beach tomorrow! :D but, I’ll try and think of what to write. Oh, and I'm writing a new story! :) To all you, fans, it's called Secretly Male! okay, bye bye! :)
