Like a bird trapped in it's cage
Lavender Love [HIATUS]Hyun Joong’s POV:
Na Eun’s mum ran towards her, “Na Eun!! Na Eun!!”
Without thinking, I abandoned the race and ran towards. “Na Eun!! Na Eun!! Na Eun!!”
“Someone call the ambulance!! Faster!!” Mum called out as she held onto her unconscious daughter, sobbing.
~
The doctor wheeled Na Eun into the emergency room as I ran behind her.
*Na Eun! You’ve got to be okay. Please don’t leave me.* I told her silently as she disappeared into the emergency room.
All sorts of emotions overwhelm me as well waited for Na Eun outside. Fear. I might not get to see her again. Anguish, for not being able to do anything. Sadness, for Na Eun not being able to lead a normal life. Anger towards Min Ji and Chae Rim for causing this to happen to Na Eun. I finally broke down…
It was the first time I felt Na Eun would leave me, but I never thought that I would be the one leaving her first.
~
45mins later, the doctor came out.
“Excuse me.” The doctor called out to Na Eun’s mum.
“Na Eun can’t run anymore. It’s going to be fatal if she ever runs again.”
“I know.”
~
Mom’s flashback:
“They have inherited their father’s chronic heart disease. They need medication to control the disease throughout their life.”
~
“I’ll be more careful next time.”, Na Eun’s mum said.
“Omma..”
“It’s okay Na Na. It’s just that she can’t run anymore, she can still walk.” Mom composed herself as she reassured Na Na.
~
Mom’s POV:
Not wanting to break down in front of her daughters, she walks to the corridors.
Na Na and Na Eun have heart disease. Their arteries are underdeveloped and it’s impossible to do a heart transplant for them. Since you’re a nurse, you will understand it. Although they can live normally, they will become weaker as they age and eventually die. But with medical developments, there might be a cure in the future.
She felt really helpless not knowing how to help her precious daughters.
“Mrs Kim…”
Quickly wiping away her tears, she turns towards Hyun Joong.
“Is Na Eun up yet?”
“The doctor told us to let her rest.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know she would faint. Otherwise, I wouldn’t..”
“Everything’s fine now. Na Eun is just feeling weak now. Don’t worry.” I cut in before he could say further.
Being Na Eun’s best friend since they start elementary school, they are really close. He must have very guilty now.
Na Eun’s POV:
“Na Eun…You’re awake”
“Unnie..”
“Are you okay? Does it still hurt?”
“Kwenchana..Just a little tired”
“The doctor says you have to remain here for six days.”
“Ne…”

Everyday Mum, Na Na and Hyun Joong will come and visit me while I’m stuck in the hospital room. I long to go outside and take a walk. But the doctor wouldn’t allow it, saying that my heart is still weak and I should take some rest.
I’m lying on my bed as my sister feed me some fruits as I stare out of the window.
“You’re bored right? You can’t play or go out, unable to do anything. This illness only makes people lonely.” Na Na said.
“Unnie, I’ll accompany you.” I said as I hold onto her hand. “Then you won’t be lonely.”
Although she smiles at me, there’s a hint of sadness in her eyes.
