Prologue

The sun shined brightly as sixteen year old Melinda Page and Jinki Lee laid next to each other on the grass. Days like this meant a lot to them. They were very rare in their lives; since it seems like life for them meant nothing but trouble. To them, sunshine meant that everything is going to get better.

It was always sunny in California, though; but not the kind of sunny that they wanted. The sunny many people expect from Cali is the “beach” sun; they loved the sunshine that shown even on their darkest days.

This is one of those days. The day Melinda found out Jinki had gotten her pregnant.
