Can I Borrow Some Sugar?

After looking at himself in the mirror for a good half an hour--and yes, he would argue against being conceited in the littlest fraction, though he did know dress well in a suit--Choi Minho still couldn’t wrap his head around it all yet. He isn’t a or a clueless idiot of any kind when it comes to going on dates and knowing what can be expected to happen on them. In fact, he can confidently say that his previous relationship has given him enough experience to work with for the rest of his life.

So, he thought….and then it all went out the window in a whisper of a single man’s name.   Lee Taemin.   If having his sugar ‘borrowed’ (the quotes were needed because up to this day, Minho’s sugar hadn’t been returned or replaced, just stolen) every now and then and his life flipped upside down and changed had taught him anything, then it was that a date with his quirky neighbour wouldn’t be like any of the other dates he had been on.    And unlike those other dates, his date wouldn’t be a woman. Sure, Taemin could pose as a woman if he wanted to but it would only make the university student all the more uncomfortable; to see a pretty girl knowing that under her skirt is a....Just the thought alone was enough to put Minho in a fit of violent coughs, challenging him to go there again but not come out of it like a pathetic little boy.   Nothing about tonight could possibly be normal. Taemin certainly wasn’t normal. The amount of sugar he consumed isn’t normal. And neither is Minho’s abrupt change in ual preference. Well, actually so to speak, Minho still liked girls. He was sure that what he was feeling in his stomach while he was in the presence of his neighbour was just admiration, a new form of liking or a small crush.   Seriously. The other day, Minho dreamed that he was in a harem full of beautiful women who were serving him drinks, snacks and giving his toned back a long awaited massage. And then Taemin came in unexpectedly like his usual self (which let out a scream from Minho in a high pitch he didn’t know he could do), announcing that he wanted to make banana chocolate-chip pancakes again but didn’t have any sugar.   A crazy guy with no logical or sense of reality was sure to disrupt the fantasy and kill Minho’s …One would think. It in fact only heightened the wonderland dream, because between Taemin’s sudden arrival and the surrounding women, Minho had time to imagine Taemin as one of those women and serving him those pancakes he so badly had an urge to make.   At that point, Minho woke up and dragged himself in to his kitchen to practically drown himself in a glass of water, where he later came to the conclusion that he happened to be ill and couldn’t understand anything that wasn’t the blinding time of ten past three.   Everything was moving in a different direction, and it was throwing out all of Minho’s plans at a rate faster than he would’ve liked. It was only a few months ago he moved out and bought a new apartment for himself and his new life as a university student with Astronomy and Creative Writing as his chosen majors. And it was only a few months ago when he and Seoyun were a happy loved couple.   And yet, Minho’s change of perspective and how he’d had to adjust to a few things hasn’t gone unnoticed, but it isn’t all bad. Learning to swim after he had forgotten how was a useful skill, and he would admit to enjoying his time on the ice and chasing his date in circles in-between and around other skaters.   But still, he couldn’t…it was all just too…   To put it simply, he didn’t think that months of scolding his neighbour, being molested and robbed of sugar by his neighbour and kidnapped and kicked--which is abuse--by his neighbour would lead him to have an infatuation of some sort for him!   Taemin always stood out; blonde hair, odd ways and all. But those visuals about him couldn’t compare to the bright  qualities he had inside of him--those crazy ones that, no matter how much would get on your nerves, would never leave your mind because they were unique, another kind of taste and exciting--because no minute with Taemin would occur again, not even remotely.   Minho could tolerate the nervous rushes he often felt in his stomach whenever he was around Taemin, because sooner or later he would get used to it.   One thing he wouldn’t be able to get used to however was Taemin acting on his own accord and being so spontaneous without letting his companion know about it, especially when his actions involved them as well.   It would seem as though one of them--Minho--had misunderstood vital information--that Taemin hadn’t delivered, and so they were both eyeing each other up and down out of confusion. “What the--Are you serious?! What on earth are you doing dressed in your pyjamas?!” Minho questioned, hoping he was yelling loud enough to scare away the blush that appeared on his face.   Taemin, dressed in adorable baby-blue pyjamas with ducks on them and fluffy-pink monster slippers, only blinked at him. “Didn’t I tell you earlier that this would be a pyjama party date?”   “No, you forgot to mention that part to me completely!”   “Oh, then…Surprise!” Anything--Trust this crazy-odd blonde to make anything sound like it was his original way of having fun. Taemin was sure his aegyo would excuse his absent-mindedness, but ended up panicking and clinging to his date moments later once he announced he wanted to go. “Stop, you can’t! I don’t understand where you thought we would go at this time of night anyway!”   “I thought that--I mean, I just assumed that…” At night, Minho was used to fine dining with his previous girlfriend and clubbing with his close friends, not this. It was all new to him to a nerve-wrecking extent. “I thought you and I would go out to dinner or something, I don’t know!”   “Dinner is at six and it’s nine.”   “Yeah…and?”   “And at nine, I like to get in my pyjamas, snuggle up on the couch and watch a good movie before I got to bed!” Taemin announced excitedly, like a small child relaying his plans for Christmas.   Philosophy--This crazy-odd blonde had absolutely no philosophy at all in Minho’s perspective. “That tells me that you don’t have a social life.” He says, flatly.   “I’m a simp
