TEASER 02
The Owner
“I’ll do cashier today. You should focus on learning all the drinks.”
The owner of Lavender Teahouse is an odd one. Sometimes he stands at the cash register and personally takes orders. Sometimes he sits near the window with a cup of tea, watching the busy street outside. Other times he sweeps half-heartedly, more often leaning against the broom lost in his own world. But most times, he holes himself up in the back office, typing away on his computer doing… something. The seasoned workers say he’s very busy taking care of inventory and financial things. They would know, since they’ve known him for a long time, but in reality, who knows what the truth is?
The truth may be what they’re saying, or it may be that he’s a lazy freeloader who lets his staff do all the work and he just profits off of their labors. But one thing is for sure: whatever he’s doing, it’s working. Every day, the shop earns more than the equivalent of an entry-level office job. No wonder the part-time workers busted for this opportunity! A mere three months of work will earn them enough to buy half a year’s worth of groceries! In fact, in the entire time the shop’s been open, he’s made enough money to sustain himself, the staff, and the rent and utilities with so much more to spare. Honestly, the newest full-time staff whispers, he could probably shut the store down and be able to survive until his death
