Lee Dohun was certain that he'd been summoned by The Ringmaster until the moment he arrived at the meeting point. Everything was dark with the exception of a light exuding in the distance. Yeo would have never been so cryptic, and Dohun should have realized that when he received the invitation in the first place.
His bright blue eyes adjusted slowly to the darkness as a figure emerged from the darkness. He narrowed his eyes, mostly to try and make out who was coming towards him. His fingers twitched at his side, feeling the tips of his fingers start to freeze in anticipation.
The stranger must have felt the chill in the air, but that didn't stop his slow footsteps towards Dohun. "There's no need for that, Demon."
"Well, I don't know that yet. You know who I am, but you won't let me see you." The coldness of the dry ice at his fingertips cooled the dusk even more. "Stop hiding."
A light illuminated the space between the two just as soon as the words left Dohun's lips. His eyes had to adjust once more— this time to the sudden brightness.
"Is that better?" The stranger asked, and now Dohun could finally see who he was facing. The man was leather-clad on the bottom, just as he was himself. The top was barely covered in a black and white crop top that covered all of the man's arms but none of his lower abdomen. There was a slight smirk to his lips that only grew when he saw the recognition in Dohun's eyes. "Hello again, Demon."
"Luck—" He started to say the man's hero name but stopped himself before he finished the second syllable. "Checkered," Dohun corrected himself. "To what do I owe the pleasure?" He still wasn't sure what the other wanted from him. They hadn't seen each other since Dohun was still training in The Might program and The Checkered was a hero. However, he did soften his features, allowing a small but cautious smile on his own lips.
The Checkered turned his body to the side, gesturing behind him to where the majority of the light was coming from. "Why don't you join me, and we can talk properly?"
Bright blue eyes flickered from the unknown destination back to The Checkered quickly, anxiously. Dohun choked out a chuckle. "You know I'm smarter than that."
He was only acknowledged by a head nod before The Checkered turned his back. "I do. That's why Ouroboros and I requested your presence. But I'll be happy to let him know that you've refused—"
"Ouroboros? So, you're leading me into one of his little worlds where I won't be able to use my powers? It sounds like a set up to me, Checkered."
With his back still to Dohun, The Checkered shook his head with a sigh. His hand moved up to rearrange the hair that framed his face in annoyance. "You were invited here as a kind gesture. Of course, Ouroboros and I would feel better if you joined us in his 'little world', as you call it. Do you think we'd chance getting burned to ashes, like your family?"
It took just one blink for Dohun's bright eyes to turn blood red. The chill in the air was immediately replaced with a dryness as flames rose from nothing on the ground around his feet.
"Enough." The third voice seemed to come from nowhere until Ouroboros himself stepped out from the darkness into Dohun's view, standing beside The Checkered. "I'm tired of the back and forth. We have invited you in for a reason, Demon. Let's work together to fight the real enemy."
The flames slowly smothered itself into the dirt. Dohun relaxed his hands, not even realizing that he'd balled them into fists. The Checkered looked over his shoulder with the same smug smirk he'd greeted Dohun with. Ouroboros extended an arm, waiting patiently for the man to walk towards them. Against all of Lee Dohun's better judgment, he stepped forward until Ouroboros arm was around him while they walked into the man's pocket dimension.
