I wake up and open my eyes, but as I look around me, it seems that I was already awake. At least, I’m standing up, and I don’t think I’m a sleepwalker. So I must have been awake for a while.

As I look around me, nothing feels familiar. The room is big and dark, as if it wasn’t finished and the walls don’t exist yet. They seem to spring into existence as I walk around the room, each corner revealing itself only when I reach it.

I bring my hands before my eyes and the same thing is happening. They appear in front of me out of nowhere and I’m not even sure I am real. But I can feel my heart beating in my chest. Or maybe I’m making that up too.

A door appears on the far wall, and I decide to take it. I find myself outside, or at least I think it’s outside because there’s a sidewalk and the light from the moon is shining through, but it feels like I’m still inside. There’s something in front of me, covered by a sheet. I decide to check it out, and as I lift up the cover, I realize there’s a car.

Is it mine? Am I allowed to use it? I have no idea where I am, nor how I ended up here. I walk around the car to inspect it, and it seems in good shape. I try to open the front door, and miss a breath when I realize it’s unlocked. The key is laying on the console.

I close the door and continue inspecting the car. I hesitate for a moment, then decide to check the trunk. I open it slowly, and as soon as I see what’s inside I frown. The
