I’m in a meadow, there’s nothing but grass and trees around me. I frown, trying to understand what I’m doing here. As I look up, I can see a phone booth and I instantly know what I need to do. It’s too weird for a phone booth to just be there, so it must mean I have to use it.

I walk out of the car and slowly make my way to the booth. I don’t know why my hands are shaking when I bring the phone to my ear. Maybe it’s the anticipation of things finally moving. Maybe it’s me who can’t handle another ignored phone call.

I dial the number and wait. Again. I take a deep breath, feeling tears forming at the corner of my eyes. I can’t do this anymore. I can’t wait any longer.

Just as I was about to hang up, I hear something at the other end of the line and I’m surprised to hear my own voice. I wasn’t expecting that.
